  1. Be interesting to see who/if he rests on Tuesday. Big ask for players to play 4 90 mins at the start of the season in the space of 10 days or so. The fact that we have virtually no strength in depth probably makes his decision easier. Only players I can see us realistically resting, would be Mercer (Semple), Bell/Jacobs (Murray) and Stirling (Todd). Keeping wise fatigue shouldn’t be an issue, would still like to have Aldo in goals though. I’d go Martin; Marshall, Fordyce, Semple, Doyle; Todd, Harkins, Bell, Murray; Dykes Dobbie If Jacobs is fully fit I’d probably have him in for Bell, but Saturday looked nasty (+ I’m fairly sure Owen Bell is capable of dealing with John Rankin)
  2. Doyle was first class, played CB, RB and RM. Owen Bell was good, expect he’ll be better in CM though but done a job on the wing. Harkins was a class act as usual. Would definitely sign both CB’s, but we need to sign Doyle, he’s the exact player we need. Experienced at this level, versatile, and a leader. Only thing that worries me is his height, along with Fordyce not being the tallest, I suspect set pieces Issues could be similar to last season.
  3. Didn’t enjoy playing under GN. Much like many young players I assume, considering the only one who remains is Owen Bell.
  4. By my reckoning Scott Mercer is a RB so it would make some sort of sense if he was to play there. Brownlie would play CB but he’s obviously out till Christmas minimum. We need in my opinion a new CB (possibly another on loan), a CM, a RM and a striker. Nat Wedderburn would be a decent option (if he’s still available). Big strong player who could play CM or CB
  5. Marshall. Good player that clearly didn’t want to be at Queens. Definitely not worth the wait
  6. could be the club are waiting until 3 o’clock to announce the new number 3 - Bob Harris. Im overthinking a s**t ton but this wait has been hell
  7. I can’t recall the last time Queens announced that there’d be a signing before actually announcing the signing - they must be decent
  8. Gavin Reilly not signing on at St. Mirren. This summer will now have seen Reilly, Clark, Lyle, Holt and Durnan on the move. Would you rather have those 5 in our team, or Stephen Dobbie?
  9. “When you go to rangers, you don’t expect to be paying every game” (or words to that affect). I still believe Nicky Clark would’ve been better at Queens. If you are to be a premiership quality player , you have to be playing virtually every week when you’re 21/22. I see the appeal of moving to Rangers, big club, boyhood fan etc, but that move potentially cost him a more successful career. In saying that he still has time on his side.
  10. Interesting to see Laszlo letting Scott Fraser go, arguably their best player. Would take both him and Durnan in a heartbeat, however I wouldn’t be surprised to see vinnie go to Falkirk.
  11. Genuinely excited for next season now. Players will mark Dobbie tightly, giving Harkins space to do his thing. If they manage to keep both quiet, I can only imagine how much space that leaves Dykes with. His best trait imo is running into space behind the defence, and judging by his performances of late, his finishing has improved. June 30 can’t come quick enough
  12. As Naysmith said, it can’t be a coincidence that when Todd came in (as well as Lyndon going up top) our results picked up. We still need replacements for Rooney, Marshall, Thomson, Rankin, Thomas and Del i’d say. Delighted wity Todd though, a good start to a massive season ahead.
  13. They won the league last year and the majority are now playing at Annan now. And this seasons team has very much been 16/17/18 year olds with the odd experienced player in it. I’d be surprised if they don’t finish top 2 next year.
  14. Fordyce was a player with injury problems and ended up getting 2nd in players player of the year. I’d take Grant in an instant.
  15. Falkirk release Tom Taiwo, Paul Watson and Peter Grant amongst others. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if we signed any of these 3
  16. Yes just read his contracf is not being renewed, along with 13 other saints players...
  17. Completely slipped my mind, like Fergusson and Bell, I’d imagine he’ll be signed up, has a lot of potential. Don’t think he’s ready for a regular starting birth yet, and can’t see Stirling being a regular. God forbid Lyndon plays LM, as he’s 100x (if not more) better up top, as proven in his last 5 games. Connor’s probably got next season to make the position his own, if not struggle to see him staying beyond next.
  18. Next seasons sqaud currently looks like this: Alan Martin (GK) Jack Leighfield (GK) Scott Mercer (RB/LB) Calum Fordyce (RB/CB) Darren Brownlie (CB) Kyle Jacobs (CM) Andy Stirling (RM/LM) Lyndon Dykes (ST/LM) Stephen Dobbie (ST) judging by that we need: LB RB [preferbaly one of the two being able to fill in at CB] RM CM CM CM [Owen Bell would likely take one of these postions] LM ST ST [i will assume that Ross Fergusson will fill one of these positions] Assuming we get Fergusson and Bell signed up, it leave so us needing 7 new players in ideal circumstances. Would take Joe Thomson, Josh Todd and Dom Thomas in an absolute heartbeat, but can’t see Todd being able to leave. Kevin Holt is a potential LB that could play CB, however would imagine Dundee will keep him, regardless of whether they come down or not.
  19. Josh Todd put in a brilliant shift on the wing today, exactly the type of player we need. Not as good as Morgan, Magennis etc but definitely talent in the boy, only 23 as well (our 2nd oldest player on the pitch tonight). I’m assuming he won’t be signed on with you boys next season?
  20. A bit out there but I always liked Kevin Smith (think he was over 6ft?) he was a rare bright in the 11/12 season, and actually started the first couple games under AJ in 12/13 before getting injured. After that he was well down the pecking order, below Clark Reilly and Tan Man. Was relatively fast for a tall man as well, felt sorry for him being frozen out but I suppose when you have a striker bagging 41 goals a season in, it’s hard to get in the team edit to add: not as good as O’Connor or Weatherston, but a good player nonetheless
