  1. Finishing 7th in that league possibly puts them on a par with Rothes in the Highland League, and thats being generous. Difficult as it is to judge these things on a one-off game, it's all I've got for reference, and the EoS champions Whitehill Welfare laboured badly to beat Lossie in the Scottish Cup last year, and Annan finished years behind them. I think Annans last attempt at HFL opposition was against an average Huntly side in Annan a few years ago and they got their melvins.

 @ anyone who says Caley couldn't have done this on their own.

  2. Futureheads on Friday at Moshulu- woot can't wait.

Apparently I am going to this too. I don't know who they are or what kind of a place Moshulu is. Could be interesting.

  3. I don't see any reason why Caledonian couldn't have gone up a few divisions, and peaked in the First Division. Had Thistle got in as well, I can't see a reason why they wouldn't just be another Elgin, thats if they even got in. Things weren't that smooth with them when the merger went down, I believe.

  4. No one ever really hated Thistle, except my grandfather who spent many an afternoon at Kingsmills howling abuse at Thistle directors for being sponsored by a whisky brand owned by the Japanese.

Caledonian were always the bad guys, except when playing Elgin when they became everyones buddy.

Clach still have 'an element' in their support.

  5. I'm going to see them Monday night in Manchester. Its a special gig they're filming for a DVD so I imagine they'll put a decent bit effort in.

They were filmin in Aberdeen on Friday and Saturday and they phoned in their performance at least on Saturday. Didn't hear much good news about Friday either.

  6. Apparently I'm going to see some Arctic Monkeys in Aberdeen on Saturday. I say apparently because I don't remember asking to go or for a ticket, but the need to sleep on my floor seems to have managed to get me one for nowt. I didn't like them much at T In The Park and the singers voice gets on my tits, so there will be a fair scoop before.

  7. Now my father is one of these ex Caley fans who will not go to ICT games purely due to him being stubborn as a mule, yet when I go to visit him he always asks how so and so is playing for ICT, and what was the game like etc. So in his own perverse way he still supports a team that he once loved and played for himself , but he just cant go the last yard and go watch ICT,which I find really sad.

He doesn't support them, he's just making sure he knows how much they are getting beat by.

  8. There are indeed only 15 teams. The search is permanently on for a 16th (as far as I'm concerned we're three short, not one) but theres debate over whether theres anyone of the standard (seriously).

Other than Golspie, Banks O'Dee are the closest thing to a 16th team now, and take part in the Aberdeenshire FA pots. I don't know if they plan on stepping up this summer. Other names touted are the usual Strathspey Thistle, Dufftown, Alness, Invergordon, Turriff United, Ellon, etc., but no one seems to be able to get it together. Now the Scottish Cup features us all, it might tempt more out of the darkness.

  9. ICT have done so well against all the odds

This also is shite. A club formed with the assets of two to dispose of, two grounds, two squads of players to start with, the good side of the local and national press, the bending-over-backwards-to-help attitude of HIE, and the total shambolic state of the lower leagues in this country meant that if ICT were pretty much guaranteed to rocket up the leagues.

As a franchise, they have done well, but theres not been much to stand in their way, has there?
