  1. Looking at the still shot below, there is no defender covering at the moment of the pull of the shirt. Bear in mind that by the pull has probably already cost Hamilton at least a yard.

Hamilton has a clear advantage to get the next touch of the ball which would in all likelihood have given him a clear opportunity to score as he would only have the keeper to beat.

Red card all day long and somewhat frivolous to appeal such an obvious decision.

  2. I'm a huge fan of Hamilton. He was absolutely terrorising Queens in the first half on Saturday.

He had 2 great chances. One where the goalie spreads himself well and gets lucky and one where he just misjudges the bounce of the ball. If you add in the red card then he could have had a first half hat trick.

There is no doubt that they will be working on his movement with the balls that Mullin and Millen can supply and at some point it is going to bear fruit.

For me, he leads the line all day long. The 3 in behind can do all the chasing down as, whichever 3 start, there are 3 able replacements to come on when they are goosed.

Well I’m in my late 40’s and have seen us promoted twice to the top league, the Coca Cola cup win, play in Europe, finish top six in the premier league, beat rangers in a « diddy » cup final and win promotion from 3rd their a few times and another diddy cup , happy days tbh but the real test of whether Dunfermline are a big team or not will be if there is a decent meal deal offering tomorrow 😂😂

Best part is we bought and paid for it all. 😂

Looking forward to Rovers getting a hard-fought draw, then having to forfeit the game 3-0 and getting fined because they think they know the rules better than the SFA.

There’s not another straight red card offence that fits (although, I do think it was a very harsh red card) and the suspension rules for these offences have been the same for a number of years now. I’m not sure why it seems to be getting debated.

That's my take on it. Fact it's a straight red means it has to be serious foul play, therefore suspension.

Dabrowski's weakest area is coming off his line for the ball. Some keepers are just like this and an experienced defence will compensate for this to an extent.

However in our case although we've recruited better CB options it is still our weakest part and the 2 goals on Sunday are down to defenders.

The first one is a poorly defended corner where nobody even jumps with the 2 attackers going for the ball. The second one involves Liam Dick going for a wander in Leith before the ball goes under Watsons leg's leaving the keeper unsighted.

Too often Dabrowski is being left exposed when he doesn't have the confidence or experience to come out in the way someone like MacDonald would. This needs to be a coaching priority for Thompson who himself is weak in this attribute. As well as looking at fine tuning the defence which might just need game time.

I do think this is a key point. Last season we had a keeper who had more experience than our centre halves combined, this season we have the polar opposite. Hopefully as the relationship develops Dabrowski can become more confident and assertive with his defenders. Our defence certainly has the attributes to be a decent unit but we are leaking goals just now.

It is strange that he is drawing this uncertainty from some of the crowd based on one or two dodgy kick outs and a goal conceded v Morton which was clearly much more down to very poor defending than a goalkeeping error.

A couple of saves and a clean sheet on Saturday may help however his last appearance at EEP wont do much for his confidence :)

  6. Goalie not at fault for either goal imo. Indeed he had a great save to keep it at 0-0 early in second half. Getting a bit uncomfortable at the growing number of fans being overly critical of Dabrowski when I'm not sure he has done much wrong.

We had a few chances yesterday and scored a decent goal. Thought we matched Hibs for much of the game much like we did Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in the group stages.

Just back from a weekend away so only gotten around to watching the highlights today.

The first goal is excellently worked from a Raith perspective, but you have to question what the hell our defence is doing for two players to get that much space within 10 yards of our goal. I've watched it several times and I can't even figure out who's supposed to be with Vaughan's run, while Easton's given too much room in the first place.

The penalty for the second is clearly a laughable decision, as the tone of the Raith TV commentary tells you. Surely no one other than the ref thought it was a penalty at the time.

Our first is well worked but if I was a Raith fan I'd be as pissed off with it as Morton fans about Raith's first. It's an excellent cross and header but the amount of space McGrattan has to put the cross in is ridiculous with no one bothering to track an overlapping full back.

Our second, good to see we're effective at picking up second balls when attacking set-pieces, not the first goal we've scored that way this season when it's not something we did often last season.

Broadfoot for the third is howling. It could be an overreaction to one mistake because he's been absolutely solid so far prior to that mistake having played every game, but being so far off keeping up with Smith when trying to get back in raises a question mark over whether you can depend on a player that slow to play every week. He's absolutely earned his place with performances so far but he was brought in for the Efe experienced third choice role and it'll interesting to see what happens when Baird is back fit, assuming we have a right back by then as well.

Just to add in to the Broadfoot bashing, the penalty he gave away after that was howling too. Only took a bit of magic from Jammer to keep it at 3.

I watched the video clip many times and it looks as if the defender is just standing there when Vaughan flings himself to the ground.  I don't think you can really tell from a still photo.

Regarding Quitongo last season (the 93rd minute penalty), it did look as if he was impeded and he made sure that he went down, but it wasn't a dive - IIRC the defender had grabbed him or his shirt.

Vaughan definitely plays for it, no doubt...as did Quitongo in that incident last season.

They're either both penalties or both dives. I think I'd prefer they were both classed as dives and the players booked for unsportsmanship behaviour. I'd think most football fans would think the same.

  9. The Byrne signing really solidifies the squad depth. The only position we probably have little depth is left back but everywhere else we have decent championship quality and depth/ options to withstand injuries and suspensions.

When all fit we could probably change half the outfield without reducing the quality on the park, that could be crucial in turning losses into draws and draws into wins and is an option we lacked for over 80% of games last season.

The league is going to be very tight, but Murrays been given a squad that can definitely compete.

In three of the last 19 years it's been under 1% in in 6 of the last 10 it's been under 2%

Dundee United charged £22 in the 19/20 season

Raith Rovers incidental were charging £16 in the league below nearly £10 less than today even with promotion and this year's inflation they win the "taking the piss prize"

I'm also not that keen on, in line with inflation, price rises as inflation is the cost of typical items which football clubs in many cases aren't impacted by. Yes the energy crisis will be hitting hard but the same excuse is trotted out everytime.

To be fair, our Adult price and Category A price helps us offset the cost of providing free entry to Under 12s and a heavily discounted under 16 season ticket.

I think the Rovers pricing strategy is quite clever however it does come with the risk of suppressing the crowd for our 4 biggest home games this season. Still think we'll see plenty Pars and DU fans at both games though.

Shocked at these 2 completely un-biased opinions.

It's football, impossible not to have a biased opinion. Below is a level headed opinion from one of your own:

I was listening to the game on Saturday. I've not watched the full highlights yet but I have seen the Pars Review clip taken from the Main Stand. I have to be honest, the tackle sounded way worse on the radio with Leanne Crighton, Willie Miller and the main comms all saying it was a straight red. It's not a great tackle but if one of our lot went off for that I think I'd be a bit miffed.

Going to watch the highlights shortly from the other side, see if I feel any different about it.

Elsewhere, seems Paul McGowan to Cove is just waiting to happen as the red tops are reporting it now too.
