  1. £9 does seem excessive for a two year old. Obviously this game isn't on the season ticket but a kids season ticket, I think, was £30 this year which isn't bad value if they go to a go to a few games. I'm sure my first ever season ticket was £30 in 1987 so I think the club have done reasonably well with that this season. I'm sure a couple of years ago there were free season tickets under a certain age but the deal was being abused so it's a tricky balance to strike. 9 quid for a two and a half year old does seem a bit ridiculous though.
  2. The issue for any business is cash flow. You plan a budget, there will be slack in it, but if money stops coming in for a prolonged period and you've still got the usual outgoings things are going to get tight.
  3. Aye, we'll obviously have got that money and the relatively small amount from non season ticket holders but I doubt it was much in the context of the horrendous run of luck we've had with postponements. I hope we're in a position to sign someone before the cup game but, if we are, I will be surprised.
  4. I'm not sure what the rules are on payments for away tickets but I have a feeling the cash is to be paid within a set period after the game is played. Don't get me started on the Townies a few years ago! In short, I doubt we've received that money.
  5. Doubt making the game all ticket was done with a view to making a signing. I think it has been done to try to get some money in because we've not had a Saturday home game since October (unless I've forgotten one). We've still got players and bills to pay. I do assume we'll announce that it will be pay at the gate shortly.
  6. Achilles. Hope it's not a repeat of that. I'd fear it would be the end of his career if it's the same injury.
  7. Laidlaw rumoured to have a kidney injury a couple of weeks ago. No idea how long term an injury that might be.
  8. I think that's madness though. I don't think it's a risk giving him a contract. Even if he doesn't get back to the player he was beginning to look like he's still a better option than the other strikers we are paying a wage for this season, and if he does come back firing on all cylinders, someone will take him off our hands for a development fee. It doesn't have to cost us anything this season to give him an extension and it shows the player that he's valued so, to me, it's good for the player and it's good for the club so we should get on and do it. Christ, we're presumably paying for his treatment so we might as well try to get the benefit of a fit talented player at the end of it.
  9. Good news if true about Toshney and Bene. Good centre half pairing. At the risk of sounding like a broken record though, it would be a wee Christmas bonus if Vaughan got an extension too.
  10. I've done a wee bit of lurking on this thread recently like QoS75 but feel like joining in now. I've done a bit of running over the last few years including Loch Ness in 2013 and this year. My problem is that I find it difficult to motivate myself over the winter, which is part of the reason I'm now posting as I don't want to lose the benefit of the training. My girlfriend has talked me into doing a couple of obstacle course races which, to be honest, isn't really my thing but does give me an excuse to go out running occasionally. Should probably persuade myself to do the Kirkcaldy park run as it's not too far from where I live but always seem to find excuses, by which I mean, I'm not sober enough to drive there in the morning! I don't believe in New Year's resolutions as a general rule but I might have to make the park run one.
  11. It looked to me like McKinnon pretty much wanted to build his team around Vaughan and it was gutting that he picked up the injury. I doubt McKinnon will have changed his view but I'd personally like to see something firmed up (oooeeeer) sooner rather than later. I'm sure Lewis would as well.
  12. If he's not offered an extension before then the board are asleep at the wheel.
  13. Next to nothing I'd have thought. Is it done for the club?
  14. FWIW I don't think the organisers realised how quickly it would sell out this year. The general consensus, as far as I can work out, was that it had been better last year. Anyway, it's been a great night every year it's been on and there isn't a way to make sure that everyone who wants a ticket gets one. The venue isn't big enough and there isn't a realistic alternative location. Contrast it with Scotland away games, you join the supporters club but can't get to the away games you want to because 'super fans' have got more points so it ends up being a closed shop and people complain about that. You simply can't please everyone. I've gone every year but last year I only managed to get tickets that were handed back late on having misjudged how quickly they'd sell out. I was initially gutted, having been to the others, but am I really more deserving than others because I've been before? I think we should be grateful that there are committed guys that put on a great event year on year that people want to go to. And, a Wee confession, I think I might have been responsible for the last tickets going at the Adam Smith (I sent my secretary to get them for me and my mates who had all gone this year, she actually got the last 8!) I felt a bit guilty when she told me about the boy behind her in the queue so I'm glad you managed to get them later.
  15. I've got evening tickets on the Friday as well. Delighted with either of those options.
  16. The club are working pretty hard on community initiatives as the articles on the website testify. It's also fair to say that there's more direct effort going in to getting more punters through the gates. The event for kids at the QoS game being an example of that. I know that there are other initiatives to get fans back in the pipeline and there has been quite a bit of investment in the South Stand concourse to improve the match day experience. Ultimately though, it's what happens on the park that is key to getting people to keep coming back. Thus far, McKinnon is doing a great job but the Kirkcaldy (and beyond) public are going to take a bit of convincing given previous false dawns. Some ideas will work, some won't. It is, though, good to see the club trying things because for years we seemed to do nothing. FWIW I always thought a player should be linked to an individual Primary School in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes and should help with training with their school team a couple of times and hand out tickets every now and again. They could turn up at a tournament (if stuff like that happens) to support the school team. You might create a bit of rivalry between the players as well as the schools. As has been said before by a few people, who are posting here so are presumably fans, it's things like this that you remember from school. Stuff like that creates fans in my mind.
  17. Just noticed Danny Lennon has signed Andy McNeil for Alloa. We might have dodged a bullet there!
  18. You never know exactly what you're going to get with a new manager and most of us don't know much about McKinnon. Judging by the comments of Brechin fans though, they aren't exactly delighted to have lost him so that should be encouraging. Various positive comments about style of play and ability to change a game should have the "Murray out" brigade salivating so I don't really understand the negativity from some. Let's wait for the squad to take shape, he's got a fairly blank canvas, and get behind him. Unless, of course, he drops McGurn in which case, knives are oot.
  19. Murray had lost the fans and I guess the board were probably concerned about poor season ticket sales so felt they had to get rid of him. For me he was an average manager and, from the outside, it probably looked like he did a good job, like Lennon at St Mirren but, ultimately fans vote with their season ticket cash. For every Jose Mourinho though, there's a John Potter so we could definitely have done worse. Since he was sacked the club has resigned McGurn and seem to be trying to get McKinnon, who seems to have Brechin playing good football. They are basically giving the fans everything they say they want so if we start booing after ten minutes when we concede after trying to pass the ball out of defence, hell mend us. At least, after a short, but pish, playing spell with us he'll have the useful attribute of experience of being booed at Stark's.
  20. To be fair to Kirkwood before getting gigs in the Highland League he was youth coach at Ross County so he does potentially tick a few boxes. It's a bit harsh to equate him with Anelka! Adams also comes across as a pretty odious human being (kind of like Billy Davies without the Manchester swinging scene) so I can understand what Yoss is getting at. As for McVeigh, I was raging when he got the Rovers job. He was clearly a p***k but if you don't try to re write history he actually did a good job while he was with us, well, unless you were a youth player!
  21. Oh aye, we'd definitely need to strengthen the bench in the home dugout as well as the team. Mark Yardley physique
  22. There are apparently rumours up north that Davie Kirkwood will get the Rovers job. Might be rubbish though, I was under the impression he was quite settled up there. Would be quite left field if true. Not completely sure how I'd feel about him.
