  1. Transfer deadline day on the tele is overhyped pish. No real big deals happen to justify the round the clock coverage it gets. I know that sky sports news and their like have hours to fill, but there is a good few hours they could cut out of it. All the hype, guys stood at training grounds to report that nothings happening jim. They are looking for a repeat of the torres/saurez deal that came through unexpectedly.

    Not sure that’s unpopular?

It was a novelty the first few times when the windows were introduced but now it is utter pish.

Just another marketing excuse for sky sports to overhype something ridiculously. Staples like Jim whites fucking tie or Harry redknapp in his car are just to appeal to the modern idiot football fanboy.

    Rant over. Sorry.
  2. Just been told by the physio I need to change my trainers and get support ones as opposed to neutral. My right foot is pulling in apparently. Adidas ultra boost or ASICS we’re my previous brands but I don’t like the fit of either now they’re getting too loose as I have narrow feet. Any recommendations?

Depending on where you live, try and find a run4it shop. They’ll get you to do a light jog on the treadmill and they’ll film it etc to get the right type of trainer for you.

I thought it might be a bit of a gimmick but it’s actually really good, the trainers I’m on now are 100x better than the off the shelf Nike’s I previously had.
  3. Sensible opinions thread for this pish.
The sooner shite like Greggs, Starbucks and Tesco are obliterated the better IMO.

It’s the soulless fucking shopping centres or business parks that get me.

A supermarket, a boots, a b&m stores, a cinema maybe, a fast food outlet and a frankie and fucking bennies for the goblins to feed in after their depressing shop.

    Repeat across the country.

Great work. It takes time but that's excellent progress. It also gets more difficult the lower you get.

Yeah I'm going to try and not get too hung up on weight now.  Keep working my plan and stay in a calorie deficit, focus on fitness/marathon training and the weight will hopefully come naturally.

  5. 29th January and this has slipped to page 3 of the forum.  Get working you lazy fuckers

Anyway, sorry to be an annoying c**t but I weighed in this morning at 89.5kg, below 90kg for the first time since early 2017 and coming from 105kg 4 months ago.

Not target weight but given I literally couldn't look myself in the mirror back in September, such was my disgust at the fat c**t staring back at me, this is a happy moment :)

  6. I can’t remeber when I last posted on here but I’m sure it was after I came off my medication myself ( fluoxetine) and was doing well.
Last month (probably longer) I’ve been feeling awful but masking it big time, feeling run down both physically and mentally and exhausted all the time but can’t sleep and I’ve came to the assumption it’s stress.
Work isn’t great but I need it to keep me sane as being off makes me worse so I’ve ruled that out for being a big issue (maybe doing too many hours but cut down this year)
Not has a break in terms of our daughter, last time someone else watched her for us was  early December and as much as I love her with all my heart she can be hard work, been up every night for what feels like the last month so not getting a full night sleep ever. Her family aren’t much help despite her maw living across the road she sees the bairn for about 20 minutes and that’s her away to sit in her housecoat watching tv again.
Came to a head yesterday when the bairn was screaming in my ear as her as the tv wasn’t getting turned on and the wife was no great help just kept saying no over and over again which set her off big time and I just broke down couldn’t stop crying and screaming into my pillow in pain (mental pain) everything just came to the surface and it didn’t stop for about 20 minutes.
Wish the bairn hadn’t seen it but it couldn’t be stopped, she grabbed me and I did push her away as i didn’t want to be touched by anything or anyone. Mrs just let her stand there which has annoyed me and didn’t do anything tbh. Later on telling me “that was a bit much wasn’t it”
Came close to going to the hospital to check myself in but bottled out of it after a shower and some reflection afterwards.
Caleld the doctors this morning and can’t get an appointment until next Tuesday and don’t know what to do until then. Can’t sleep and when I do it’s only a few hours at a time, when I get to bed my brain is wide awake and can’t shut off at all.
Feeling bit better today but really need some help from the docs to get a night sleep.

    aaaaaaaand breathe.

Sounds shit mate. I can only imagine how difficult it must be balancing parenting and a mental health issue, particularly when sleep is deprived.

Is the mrs aware of your health beyond normal parental stress?

It seems to be a popular view on Sportsound now that managers can't shout at players and go mental ala the hairdryer treatment type of stuff.

Apparently players today are too soft plus it will get you in trouble with HR.

Nonsense of course. It's far more accurate to say that it's probably not an effective way of management, especially when used for everyone. It still has its place but it simply isn't going to work with everyone and probably comes across as a bit 'old fashioned' in terms of motivation, and if used too often just loses it's weight in terms of effectiveness.

Players today are definitely different than in the days of someone like Jim McLean or even Alex Ferguson, and shouting in their faces and calling them shit whilst flipping over tables and punching walls simply won't motivate people. It's not a bad thing, it's just different. You need to take a more individual approach to motivation. Some will definitely react to a bollocking and take it as a kick up the arse but others will just go in to their shell. Say what you will about that but it's the manager's failing there, especially if being unable to get the best out of their players causes them their job.

TL;DR version; all the former players from the 80s and 90s continue on their path to full 'yer da'

Tbf the general consensus was that Lennon had to change his approach.

They probably came across a little 'yer da' because they all love him and are loathed to go full out calling him a dinosaur.

Scott Burns (usually spot on with these things) saying we’re now in for Hayes on loan.

Again not mad keen on the loan but not exactly a case of us developing him for them like it was with Christie.

I love Jonny, he went directly from Aberdeen to the OF and I still hold him in high regard, that's a monumental feat from anyone.

BUT, I just don't feel great about bringing him back.  Nevermind not playing against Celtic, I just don't think he'll be anything like the player he was.

I've not listened to it, but Michael Stewart has seemingly gone on a "kids these days" rant.

The generation of footballer now to when Lennon was a player is different, no question, and that is reflective in wider society too.

Stewart also said it's not necessarily a bad change, its just different and Lennon needs to adapt.

  10. Some of his crackers from Donstalk.

" Hibs chief wants mciness to replace Lennon..
Aberdeen will be approached after matters are
    Settled with old regime."

"Secret plans to save pittodrie have been drawn up ... :
Architects have drawn up a plan B if kingsford drags on any
Longer , training ground would be safe but a planned redevelopment
Starting at south stand , then merkland then main stand .
Pitch getting moved 15metres away from main stand to allow space for new
    Stand .
It’s a 6 year project costed at 47m, capacity would range from 17k to 24k incorporating
    Safe standing ."

    Re: Dundee/Dundee Utd

Top secret deals in merging both Dundee teams
    To a seperate unit..

2 closely  linked American business men will migrate both clubs to 1 keeping
Their history’s & orgins in tact , move to new 15k stadium & sell both old grounds
With assistance from Dundee Council to find part of it ,new ground would have flexibility to make
3 stands safe standing taking it to 23k.

Loss of fans from both clubs put at 20% but after 3/5 years
Clubs fan base would be back up to premeger levels.

New name To be city of Dundee.

Looks like America has there team!

    Lovely stuff. Sounds exciting.
  11. Unfortunately, Wright is as soft as shite. Seems like every time he's started a game over the last year he's down holding his leg or ankle after 10 minutes.
He's had more than enough chances at Aberdeen, but sadly he isn't up to it. Contrast Wright with McLennan, who has the physical attributes as well as ability.
I'm not sure he'll be able to handle the physical requirements of the Championship, and if he does go to Ayr he'll spend most of his time injured.  On the plus side, he'll get to play against Partick Thistle again.

I tend to agree but you never know he might do a pawlett.

However if I was a betting man id say he was done with us.

  12. What’s he like?

Is he a winger or a striker?

Often utilised as a winger but played very well off the striker against st mirren early season.

Skilful player but physically pretty small/weak and not as quick as you might think. Good technique and can strike a ball.

Clearly talent there but really needs to prove he can cut it at this level. Really needs to be playing regularly so hope it happens.

  13. I’m not trying to troll when I say I think he is alright but I should have put it more in context as I think he alright considering he is a snooty, Eton graduate Tory who has come from a very wealthy and privileged background. I can relate to him more than Theresa May, David Cameron and Bojo for example and think he is more in touch than he gets credit for. And he’s quite funny

Yes, he’s just more likeable than some of the odious Tory c***s out there. Michael gove makes my skin crawl.

His politics are still appalling in my view, doesn’t mean you have to think he’s the spawn of Satan.
  14. There’s plenty of abuse dished out on this thread, but sometimes you need to give them credit- Paul Mitchell and Jim Goodwin have been superb on the St Mirren-Hibs game. Such a shame that Gordon Smith and p***k You g have dragged the overall standard down.

Jim Goodwin is very good, speaks a lot of sense and very knowledgeable.
