  1. Basically any 'fad' diet or get slim quick programme. Almost the entire 'health' industry is based around people who can't be arsed putting in the work over a long period of time to live right. And I say this is as someone who has been slim, fat, back to slim, to very fat and on my way back to slim
  2. As others have said the devil is in the detail here. If sky want to take Scottish football seriously and promote the whole league great but I have more than heavy doubts. Their coverage currently has nailed their colours to the mast on that one. They see it as an Old Firm novelty act to attract the casual English viewer when their EPL matches aren't on. An increased deal will probably be welcome and healthy for clubs that are struggling, however it won't improve the product on the pitch significantly and as PauloPerth noted it will not filter down to ticket prices etc. Simply put, TV is designed for the mass market, not the dedicated fan, this is as true in England as it is in Scotland, it just so happens that England have a far more marketable product and they attract some world class talent because of it. I will be stunned if this new TV deal has any benefit to average match going Scottish football fan either financially or simply the enjoyment of what they're seeing. That's my cheery, optimistic view.
  3. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aberdeen-sell-more-13000-tickets-13547925 "Aberdeen were left-raced after battling for a 50-50 split with Rangers only to sell less than 10,000." Presume they were going for left red-faced but still...
  4. You've made a judgement already and are asking people to be impartial
  5. Of course it is. The point was it doesn’t matter, as the whole narrative is just an emotional pull.
  6. That's just modern politics in general surely. Most politicians know that the majority of people will not read detailed manifesto's/policies, economic research etc etc. Winning votes is all about a quick, emotional hit. It's why people like Farage etc gain so much traction. They appeal to the 'working man' and decry 'the elite' as out of touch. Now I'm not saying that's right or wrong but people will respond to that before they go and do any independent research into what those politicians are actually proposing, let alone what they would actually implement. Project Fear, the romanticising of armed forces, all of this is to trigger an emotional reaction because people simply don't want to put the work in to be informed.
  7. It's a good thing our justice system doesn't work like that then.
  8. I think it's a horrible, distasteful "joke" and these are clearly not right minded people. However, just because the victims are majority black does not make it a racially motivated act. I think that's a really dangerous road to go down.
  9. So we're through the first round of games (yes I know we still need to play Livi) so my thoughts on the season so far. Overall - 5.5/10 I would say. Performances generally been pretty poor but results have been surprisingly ok given the way we've been playing. Cup final, not "too" bad a league position and the effort against Burnley was admirable. Positives: - Results despite the performances - McKenna/Devlin looks like a great centre back pairing in the making - Lewis Ferguson has been a brilliant find especially for his age - GMS finding a decent consistency of form this season - Bruce Anderson looks like he is almost ready to play regularly and looks a proper goal threat. Negatives...: - The fullback problem - This to me is where we seem most vulnerable defensively. Logan is having an uncharacteristically bad season so far, Considine has his limitations at fullback. Lowe looks like he could be a decent find however he's only here until January as it stands. The game against Rangers at Hampden hammered this home for me, they looked dangerous in wide areas and neither Logan or Considine were coping very well. We were slightly fortunate that the final ball was so poor. - The midfield problem - This is the biggest issue we've had so far this season for me and was epitomised at Killie on Sunday. I think the failure (so far) of Gleeson and Forrester is key to this. They were signed as a Jack/Mclean type players respectively and both have failed miserably so far. It means we're very disjointed transitioning from defence to attack. Ball/Shinnie are effective at breaking up play, Shinnie can provide energy and drive on the ball but neither provide very much quality either at retaining possession or creatively. Ferguson could do this in future but I don't think he's quite there yet. What we see instead is rather aimless balls either out wide or up to the front man, none of whom are really effective target men at all. The result is being overly reliant on someone picking up the second ball and gaining a bit of space that way. It's awful to watch and hasn't resulted in us creating a lot of chances. Gleeson/Forrester either need to step up or they need moved on so we can find players who can do the Jack/Mclean roles/ - The front three problem - Our biggest creative threat is our two wide men in MCginn and GMS, but none of our strikers really thrive off balls into the box, so again we're disjointed in the final third. Bruce Anderson may be a solution to this, his goal on Sunday shows what having someone with a bit of instinct in the box can do off of GMS and Mcginn's work in wider areas. Mcinnes doesn't seem to rate Anderson's hold up play based on Sunday's comments which would suggest he's not planning to start him regularly anytime soon. I'm not 100% comfortable with us going 4-4-2 to accommodate Anderson as I don't think we're strong enough in midfield to play with two out and out wingers and only the two in central midfield, especially if one is Dominic Ball. Not sure what the answer is here, over to you Derek. January could be a big window for Mcinnes although I am slightly concerned that December could break our season before we get the chance, it will be a very big month. I don't think we're a million miles away from being a decent team, sorting out that midfield will go along way to seeing us back to our best.
  10. Do leave voters still claim they knew exactly what they were voting for?
  11. Conversely there was a girl 2 or 3 years ago that was head and shoulders better than everyone every week. She was absolutely nailed on to win. Then it got to the interviews and her business idea was shite and she was binned straight away.
  12. Americans are basically incapable of knowing when to end shows that are even moderately successful.
  13. Pleasure doing battle yesterday. We all prefer it when there is a #TB4 clean sweep in a given weekend but I think we can all agree football was the winner at Rugby Park yesterday, hence why BT Sport were so keen to showcase it. I have no doubt you will sword that diddy Gorgie outfit this weekend.
  14. Agree. I've never worn one and don't think I have ever had anyone question me about it. In terms of football it makes more sense given clubs are having them sewn into the strips therefore it becomes a case of opting out of it rather than choosing to wear one. Institutions like the BBC making it compulsory to appear on the news etc with a poppy don't help either. But would say 95% of normal humans in society don't even notice.
  15. Imagine having to publicly justify not wearing a poppy. What a time to be alive.
  16. Thank you for clarifying as I had no idea what it meant originally lol
  17. Close Brothers was a short term loan that has been repaid. New Oasis are still covering the shortfall in funding otherwise.
  18. Whilst they aren't the greatest set of accounts in the world there isn't anything immediately alarming in there other than the requirement for external funding. Even then, they appear to have sufficient assurances from investors that the money will be available (the auditors will have made sure the investors confirmed that to them directly). Of course it all changes if they demand their money back or the funding dries up but it wouldn't appear that it is going to. There is nothing really interesting or exciting about these accounts at all.
