  1. Just catching up on p and b after a busy week.

Quite funny this social media saga, the more Dom speaks, you just know the club have made the right decision.

Questioning why John hasn’t spent more time appealing a decision to the SPFL sums up this joker.

Why would the club want  to broadcast the current stage of proceedings.

Canny mind the lads name from 2 or 3 seasons ago he left for similar reasons. Thought he was decent as well.

Im led to believe the current squad train at Haddington. Would a training base in the alnwick morpeth area no help and it's only yer match day travelling to worry aboot.

Worth a stab in the dark compared to what s currently happening  ?

Like has been said it'll only get worse competing for central belt LL players should the disaster happen ?

We've recently had people down to Morpeth looking at players.

Reason is doesn't work just now is that travelling to Peterhead and Elgin is a massive problem as well as training.

If we were in the Lowland League the players travelling from the North East  will end up playing for nothing due to extremley low wages on offer.

Why would it end Berwick Rangers as a club , it hasn't ended East Stirling?

If we kept the same playing budget as now, we would get one attempt at getting back up and even then that would mean huge losses.

We would have to cut our cloth accordingly which means survival but also a club that would become a mid-tabe lowand league outfit at best.

We will be playing in the Lowland League next season, with the only glimmer of good news that we are almost certain to be about 8 points adrift come May, so can't start getting all bitter about Clydegate.

The only tiny glimmer of hope is if we immediately replace Harvey with someone who can organise a football team. Even then though, should that person exist, it is hard to imagine how he can tighten up a team with nobody who has a clue how to defend in midfield.

So, sadly for John Bell, he will have to spend a few months working out a strategy to compete for players with the likes of Spartans, Bonnyrigg etc etc. The parachute payment may give us one decent chance to get back up to the SPFL and if we fail, our overheads/debts and especially our location will mean we will stay there for ever, and maybe disappear altogether.

There are do many culpable people for our sad demise. I think we need another of Dutch's dodgy polls to see who we think wins the overall gong.

Lowland League still isn't worth thinking about bud, one season down there will end us. We have 8 games to SAVE OUR CLUB.

The parachute payment is around 40k which is half this year's contribution from the SPFL and we are still loosing 40k on those figures. We couldnt afford to keep the same playing budget and lose 80k next season, probably more with fewer people attending, that would wipe us out.

Came across a set of accounts from my days 2005/06, the playing budget was 135k and we lost about 20k on the year. Now we are paying around 25k less on players and losing 40k on the year.

Berwick Rangers have a terminal illness right now and its bloody painful watching the club die.

That’s doesn’t make great reading that, granted JH came to us 7/8 games in but we had already picked up 6 points in that time. Think that backs up that there has been no improvement since his arrival actually significantly worse. Harvey has also been backed a lot more than horn was in terms of finances. @Disc Potato would be able to clear that up?

How would I know what money Robbie had or Johnny got. I am fan that goes along to games and help where I can.

  6. Look at the state of the rules for this.

    F Players
    Registration and Eligibility
F1 Subject to these Rules and the Player Regulations, to be eligible to Play for a Club a Player must be League Registered with that Club in accordance with these Rules and the Player Regulations.
F2 A breach of or failure to comply with the Player Regulations shall constitute a breach of these Rules.

Find it amazing that people don’t think a change in manager can change fortunes with the same players. Being unable to set  a team up and not winning a game in months is unforgivable. A competent manager could easily come in and make this dross hard to beat.

Right now we have our own troubles to deal with.

Spend your time a little more wisely, maybe start by looking at all the illegal irregulaties that happened when McDougall sold Cowden.

Tend to agree that you can't change manager every 5 minutes, or in March.

But I disagree that this team has "organisation".  Today was an organisational shambles, real schoolboy stuff with no obvious plan and everyone racing around in their own little bubble.

Fair assumption mate, respect your opinion about today as wasn’t there.

Of course a new manager could change it, the new manager has JUST realised Hume is shite! Just realised Murphy is Better than most options in the middle. And as a known fact most of the players can’t stand him as with most of the other managers in the league, comments from mcdonagh post match wed saying Harvey’s previous post match interviews was all the motivation they needed on Wednesday.

A new manager would hopefully have the same effect as when he arrived with 2 wins because they were quite clearly a fluke.

4pts from the last 42 is totally unacceptable.

Spoke to our captain a few weeks back and he said I honestly don’t know where our next win is coming from. He was being honest and I totally agreed with him. We had Albion as a protection blanket now we don’t.

I’m sorry but using the start of the season boardroom disputes as an excuse for the current showings on the pitch has to stop.

The current manager has brought in 10 players since his arrival, TEN! If he can’t get his players to perform as you suggest why on earth would we stick with him, we are in serious danger of losing our league status. Something that we will never retain again if we are to go down.

If you believe the rumours flying about the stands today he was getting his jotters had we got beat last week, we are now in a worse position that what we would have been if we got beaten last week.

How could a new manager benefit this squad in our final 9 games?

If it was down to a lack of effort and poor organisation then yes I could see the benefit of change. It’s not, it’s down to a lack of quality so a new manager would make next to no difference with this group.

it’s a case of sweating it out profusely over the final 9 games I’m afraid. Shitting it.

That’s not true at all, there is no precedent for cup games I don’t believe. League games are totally different anyway - what if the player in question scored all 3 goals in a 3-0 win?

Few years ago Brechin had a left back that wasn’t registered and made to replay cup-tie with Hamilton. When they found a second player ineligible, Hamilton were awarded the tie.

He's been away on trial in the USA for a couple of weeks. Philadelphia Union, I think. If it doesn't work out, he comes back to us.

Shown some flashes of skill but difficult for him to impress in a side that concedes goals for fun.

He returned to the UK earlier this week. Hopefully pushes for a starting place as he has lots of quality at this level.

  13. Todd the only one of that line-up I'd take back tbh but I agree with the point that it represents alot of change and loss of league experience mid-season.

I was surprised how poor Phillips was yesterday, always liked Gary at Berwick. Forbes was giving him a 5 yard head start and he was still leaving him for dead  down the near side in the second half.

    Incomings :-

Starting the season with that clown Adams between the sticks was a huge error, Allison although now injured did well, he'll will certainly be missed. Hopefully Sean takes his chance.

Forbes is a good right back for this league, I think he has now proved that in his performances.

Brydon will only get better and although he made a few mistakes yesterday he is still our best central defender. Great to have him back at this level.

Hume, For me just isn't up to this standard and not as good as Todd.

Barr, Different class, I'd be signing him on a longer term deal. One player we have that could mix it at a much higher level. Best business the club has done for a while.

Blues, Good player that will hopefully get better with regular football but needs to do better with his energy levels than he did yesterday.

Ahmed, For me not good enough. His second touch wasnt even a tackle yesterday as his first touch had rebounded that far away.

Adamson, Playing out of position on the right hand side but looks worth a go through the middle with Healy struggling, early days just now for him.

Overall the incomings have to be a positive but it still leaves our squad well short to compete for even the middle of the table. Need to get over the line with some positive performances and add some quality and league experience over the summer. That is easier said than done but will hopefully prove less of a challenge than the January window with more players available for free. If it means spending an extra 10k, it needs to be done to try and stabilise the club before moving forward.

Players fought hard in the second half yesterday, particularly in the latter stages of the game, leaving the impression the dressing room is right behind the manager.

  14. Brennan

    Forbes, Wilson, Brydon, Mciduff

    O'Kane Blues

    Brown Barr Oglivie

    Healy

    4-2-3-1

Smaller pitch will suit Wilson and Brydon who were promising together against Stirling and worth another go here.

We need someone to mix it and O'Kane provides good energy in the middle with Blues.

Get the three ahead of them on the ball and they will create chances.

Personally I don't give a toss if we play 8-1-1 as long as we return with at least a point.

    Come on you Gers

  15. Some great rivalry back in the day. Some very good lads in the Cowden support, Vince Sinclair, big Scottie and Wee Jimmy that sells the half-time draw. Was rooting for you in both playoffs and happy you’re still a league club. It’s in our hands to also make sure we retain our league status. Still love the Cowden away day and that is something that would certainly be missed.
