Gruesome result against one of the few teams with, allegedly, a similarly crap budget. By all accounts, could have been 6 or 7.

Only 1 result, and we'll see what happens on Saturday. But you wouldn't get long odds on this all going seriously tits up pretty soon.

Everyone jockeying for position  and making whatever "f**k-you" decisions they can. Does anyone have the balls to bring all the fighting factions together?

    Won't hold my breath.

The important factions could well lock together, that's all that matters going forward.

A win and a clean sheet is pleasing.

Cook could be a big player for us this season.

In all fairness they are a decent team, plenty of credit due their way. Cowden only beat them 1-0. The gap has closed in recent years.

Would like to see Cook retain his place in back three rather than RB but agree with you about his input this season.

Great competition for No1 spot, impressed with both goalkeepers.

Murphy could be a gem, already see him growing in confidence. Finds space well and glides past defenders.

With a couple more additions, we can progress.

2-0 v CSS much more like it. Right sort of oppo and a wee lift before it all begins.

Wasn't as clear cut as the score suggests but a decent win on a tricky pitch. Murrell scored from the edge of the box with a lovely strike. Second was a deflected Healy shot. Two trialist's started but overall didn't convince. Excellent performances from Jack Cook (MOTM) and Gary Phillips.

  4. Saddened to hear our long term commercial manager has left the club. This is the second member of staff that has left due to a certain director. So important to get behind Robbie and the players but the club really is in bad shape right now.

Its reassuring to hear the son of our new director of football telling people his dad won't allow Robbie to sign anymore crap players. He nearly broke the club while he was manager and may just finish the job this time.

You've signed 4 players which equates to 50% of our whole budget.   - How do you know what monies have been spent to come to this conclusion?

It's a small world and players talk. Just maybe we were in for the same players.  Fair play to you for showing ambition.

The finance comes from the same as many other clubs at this level - gate money, licensing money, Scottish Cup participation, etc.  We don't have any sugar daddy.  We do have the big advantage of being based in Edinburgh, which is more attractive to many Central Belt players than having to travel three times a week to far-flung places for training and matches, so we can (sometimes) offer them a lot less money; and we don't own our own ground, which despite all the advantages that has, can also be a financial millstone.

And we are fortunate enough to have a manager who works closely with the Board and knows how much money City have to spend, and doesn't demand that the directors push the boat out.  The last player City signed that we weren't sure we could afford was Joe Mbu :thumsup2 , but that worked out rather well.  And before James McDonaugh, Gary Jardine was also closely involved with the finance side of things, and making sure that he wasn't signing players who would drag us into debt.

Both James and Gary can/could get rather testy when the suggestion goes up that City are dripping with cash.  We ain't.  Unlike Tam and Tenkay, I do have a clue about the club's finances, and I can honestly say I'd be surprised if we had a bigger income than Cowdenbeath or Berwick Rangers.

Many thanks for taking the time to write an honest reply. Agree that your income streams are likely to be on par with clubs like Berwick/Albion Rov/Cowdenbeath.

The reason I asked was, those clubs listed above couldn't compete with EC in terms of what they offered players this summer. Players now getting paid over 52 weeks and not 42 not helping any of us. You've signed 4 players which equates to 50% of our whole budget.

This wasn't a jealous post, I was just intrigued to see how this was being funded. Your directors/sponsors deserve huge praise for the big step forward you are taking, leaving other clubs well behind.

Right now Peterhead/Stirling/Clyde/EC are top four for me.

Thanks again, looking forward to our trips up there again next season.

When I play in a poor team I normally play quite bad myself. He probably didn't even like playing for Berwick and thought "f*ck this" every week.

Welcome to City Keiran you'll be appreciated here just like Lord Scullion was after Berwick fans hounded him out the club.

Because of his lack of talent, the Berwick support actually gave him some encouragement. It was usually our own players that ran out of patience with him.
