Aye you’re right. My mate was at the game and said Cole scored but he was horrendous, then he went on to say it was Cole Starrs. We played a relative young reserve squad against a full Killie first team. Devante Cole is still nursing an injury but from what I’ve been told he’s been class when he has trained.

Our reserves played yesterday against a Killie first team. We lost 3-1 but Cole scored a screamer. Sloth and Tanner both got minutes.

Wouldn’t it be less disappointing? If you had got to see him play and he was the next big thing and a club came in and he left, you like the rest of us would be up in arms. No point thinking what this youngster could have done for us as a first team, very low possibility MacLear or McKinstry would have been in our first team this year. They also didn’t feature much at all last season for the reserves, mostly playing u18s until Maurice Ross came in and started giving them chances near the end of the season. Its their choice they were offered the chance to stay at the club and given tasters what they could get first team wise. In a sense turned their head for money (understandably) going from 150 a week to about 700+ at 16/17. They chose not to stay exact same as Hastie in a sense, no big loss to see a youngster go, plenty more and we got plenty cash for it, 250k for MacLear and probably similar for McKinstry.

I think sloth will challenge Polworth for a place. Heard Cole had a niggle and struggling to gain fitness at the moment, hopefully he can prove an asset to our team. Have some good depth out wide with Seedorf with possibly the opportunity of using Long, Cole and Manzinga out wide aswell. Still with Tanner and Turnbull we have some great depth.

What I’ve been told and I’m inclined to believe, it seems Lafferty splits opinion but I wouldn’t be in the sign him section I’d rather see someone else with a better scoring record if we were to blow the budget on them. I also fear it could be Josh Magennis, that rumour could be total nonsense but you never know, NI connection aswell...I wouldn’t like us to sign him either, was pretty poor when he was up here.

Any ideas of the actual result and who else played?

I don’t think it will be a striker I’d presume a midfielder or centre back but only a CB as cover but Maguire could still play there.

I get that there may be pointless things posted but I don’t want things to disappear like “an excellent save” “a good opportunity” or even the subs that have been made in a game. Not just goal updates. I liked the after post match interviews with the players I hope they don’t get rid of that. Has been disappointing not to hear quick interviews from every new signing, or updates from the manger etc. I understand getting rid of stupid things that aren’t essential and I like the recent videos with players for example Hylton and Donnelly.

Lets see what the competitive games bring in terms of our strongest team and who is good enough from the new signings. After Ilic I’d say that we are sorted until after Betfred Cup. We then re-assess and look to see where we can improve upon and look at who’s available nearer the end of the window.

Re-signing players has evidently worked for us many times. Not only have they performed but gives the fans that extra bit of buzz. For example, Skippy pivotal in keeping us up against the h***, Pearson aswell. Faddy at first was immense when he came back, the list goes on. Of course it won’t work with times like McCormack and Clarkson. Always worth the chance IMO, only if they are available and in budget with something to offer to the squad.

Haha it’s not unknown that he was here as a boy he signed for Watford from Motherwell as he was correct me if any knows not one who they were looking to sign full time, so he pursued another option, we got a nominal compensation fee. On the point regarding Murphy, if rangers are shipping him out (who he has played well for) and in our price range I’d take him back in a heartbeat an excellent player.

If we don’t put at least 6 by them we riot. I suspect our team will be mainly full of some youngsters and any of the trialists with a few who seem to be lacking fitness.

How’d the trialist play ? And what position? Just had a quick watch and he was number 12 and is 100% a different player to the other night.

250k-300k minimum for Cadden. If still under contract he’d easily be 500k upwards, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Hopefully it is just pre cautionary or nothing serious as he has a real platform to perform here and I see him actually being able to do well for us. How has Hylton played so far I like the look of him and obviously had an excellent season last year and hopefully he can carry on that form with his goals and assists.

The thing is we actually got pipped to signing dembele and basically Kipre was second choice to him as he performed decently on trial and ultimately he made the club a million and possibly more.
