New kits; 2023/24 Edition (bits and bobs from overseas)
Doakes replied to DutchBorderer's topic in Misc Other Fitba Chat
Not sure if I'm just becoming harder to please with kits, but genuinely don't think I've seen one this year that I really like That Inter kit is rotten Adidas should bin the new logo and go back to their original one for all kits -

Echo a lot of the previous comments, squad looks good. I think we could use another winger if we're being greedy... -
100% the type of p***k that was bullied at school and uses the restrictions as a way to feel a bit of power A super-grass

True, depends on the severity. But if you suffer from asthma you've got to weigh up the risks of A) potentially getting covid B) potentially having an asthma attack Can really depend on the day, where you are, the air quality etc. Anything that irritates or inflames your airways can really make things difficult. I guess there's an argument that the mask could help in certain situations, but hinder in others. If you become short of breath things can become scary quite quickly so you might need to remove the mask and wear your badge. I don't think people should be judged for making a medical decision.

You ever had asthma? Genuine question

We either win the league, flirt with relegation, get relegated or win a cup. Can't remember the last boring season we had! -

Doakes replied to Ray Patterson's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
You don't follow St Mirren if you want St Johnstone-style, mid table, dull, mediocrity. We're either really really good or really really shite. It's very rare we have a boring season, rollercoaster club. You'd need buddie to understand it fully -

From where we were under Stubbs it was a fantastic achievement to stay up. Well worth a pitch invasion. McCoist was loving it in the BT box -

From what I've seen of united, I'd be looking to attack both fullbacks in the home game, Connolly and to a lesser extent Reynolds look suspect, Robson (I think) was struggling against McAllister so maybe something we can exploit. Think playing 2 up top at home will cause more problems, Cody was a bit isolated -

Is that what he was doing? Saw him making gestures up towards us and got pelters back then a few folk pointing and shouting scum at him Nazis in Dundee -

I can see this going to penalties, which gives me the absolute fear Thought Gary MacKenzie was class at the back last night. McAllister was bright. For United, McMullen was definitely the standout performer Really could go either way in Paisley - lively home crowd should help, the ground has a good atmosphere when it's packed -

Don't think that's true, the away end is never available on our ticket site, and you'd need to be a member on our system to get access to buy one. Can't imagine any United fans being registered as a St Mirren fan. Maybe the guy who bought 60 will sell you one... -

Folk being allowed to buy 60 tickets is wild Feel for Guy, you'd be raging being out in the cold for 12 hours to get f**k all Both sets of fans very up for this it seems.. -
I imagine we'll have sold well over 2k after tomorrow since the ticket office is open late Certainly have a good following

St Mirren v Accies: Monday Night Madness
Doakes replied to accies1874's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Tbh I respect the few Accies fans that actually follow their club, seem to have a small hardcore band of them home and away Never understood why so few people in Hamilton follow them That said, hoping our crowd can make the difference and give the team a boost - this one really could go either way! -

No doubt a few clubs will be asking the question now that it's been in the media. I did think at the time it was a bit weird that photos of him training appeared in the S*n -

Decent. Is Gary Mac still available for selection? Guess it's a shop window, live on BT Sport, no other games on etc Have a feeling we'll be playing Cody Cooke rather than Mullen -

Been trying to work out what kind of formation we might play on Friday Stubbs has previously used both 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 formations with Hibs, would like to see us try a 4-4-2, but not sure we've got the personnel... Had a look on the Hibs forum at a "Alan Stubbs tactics" thread, main criticism seemed to be not changing things quickly enough during a game. He sounds a bit similar to JR in that respect! Obviously has faith in his style, which isn't always a bad thing http://www.hibs.net/showthread.php?301064-Alan-Stubbs-Tactics&s=ede649db387088edaf2630d236112d69 -
The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread
Doakes replied to djchapsticks's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
To be fair, I didnae use the word experience, in my point I said they were already established at clubs of a similar level to ours. I like the idea of signing young players, just think getting rid of 2 proven defenders is a risky move, especially when our defence was decent last season. Only left those 2 out because you had already mentioned them in our debate! If by some bizarre reason I found myself in Alan Stubbs shoes - I would have kept Gary Mac at the least. Probably would have brought in a player like Heaton if available, tall and definitely has potential, but yer MacKenzie type players can prove vital when you’re needing a bit of extra stability in a game, or contending with an aerial threat.
