Mind you, as a supporter of a club who was once told by our board that our stadium was 'not fit for purpose' and we definitely had to leave it (spoiler alert - we didn't), I wouldn't be taking the assertion that they absolutely have to leave Pittodrie as gospel quite yet.
Aye, but this is a totally different situation. Pittodrie is in breach of a number of UEFA regulations that definitely exist, and costs a billion mega-pounds a day to maintain.

I was reading an article about direct debits this morning but I can't find it again.
It talked about people who had huge credits on their accounts. One guy had over £1000 on his account and his energy company still massively increased his direct debit and wouldn't agree to reduce it. The advice to the guy was to make a complaint to OFGEM.
Am I missing something here? Is there a reason why people are not simply cancelling their direct debits and paying as the bills come in?
I wonder if direct debits are about to become the next major financial scandal.
Some (all?) energy suppliers charge a higher tariff if you don't pay by DD. I got fed up with SSE setting my Electricity DD far too high for my usage (which I track pretty closely) so I switched to paying on receipt of the bill and found that out! My gas is still on an inflated DD with SSE but I figure at least they're not getting too much of my money up front. b*****ds.

That somehow managed to both suck and blow.

Decent catch that!

When Saturday Comes is an excellent publication that I've subscribed to for decades but I was disappointed to see that they'd bought into the fairy tale in their wee piece about this programme in a recent issue. However someone has written in to the latest issue and put them straight on a few things:
"... there is an inescapable suspicion that there may be some at the club who are happy to bask in a level of publicity that only exists because the team's results are consistently abysmal and much of their off-field organisation is completely shambolic."
Bob McPherson, Dundee, WSC 426.
A doff of the cap to Bob!

Preston last season; WE NEED VAR IN OUR GAME.
Preston yesterday; VAR IS RUINING OUR GAME.
I'm holding him entirely responsible to be honest.
I'm happy to to pin the climate emergency and the cost of living crisis on him too.

The main man himself netted direct from a corner in Wigan's win against Blackpool today. I'm envisioning some proper heads-gone from the poppy fascists in the stands. Lovely stuff.

Did Roos have ANY saves to make?
One fairly simple one from a Fletcher header, and he clawed away a cross in the first half that might have been on target. That's all I can remember.

We didn't play well and were really under the cosh for most of that second half, but a couple of close-range chances for Fletcher and that time the ball got flashed low across goal was all United could come up with.

Scott Brown v Joey Barton was "a terrific rivalry"?! Aye right you are Kenny.

McCann is an absolute slevver.

That's a goal surely.

Tommy Wright was garbage. Among the worst I've seen play for us in my 36 years going to Pittodrie.

I'm going to guess McLean was boo'd because a reasonable proportion of Scottish folk, and therefore of the Tartan Army, are staunch AF poppy-shaggers. It might have been a small minority but it doesn't take that many people boo'ing for it to be heard on the telly and that.

You are 100% correct.
The point is that IFAB need to get that in the bin - get together again (without the malts and cognac this time) and rethink that whole rule.
VAR exacerbates it - but it’s the rule rather than VAR that is a problem with handball these days. It’s wrecking fitba
My solution - indirect free kick unless it’s clearly intentional. My solution is to reinstate the old law - deliberate handball is a foul and accidental handball isn't a foul. The referee decides whether it's deliberate or not based on his assessment / balance of probabilities / whether or not the attacking team is Rangers or Celtic / etc.
It worked fine for 100 years until arsehole fans started shouting "handball!" whenever the ball hit a hand accidentally in the penalty box and idiot pundits on MOTD started reacting to this and demanding a completely unnecessary law change because they're too ignorant to read and understand the fucking laws of the game.
If your team gets a shot on goal blocked by the ball accidentally hits a defender's hand (eg. the United penalty yesterday) then tough luck, it's the rules.

Delighted at the return of Duncan and Duncan
"Remember to breathe, Duncan" was the best line of the episode IMHO. Although the presenter boy ripping into St Johnstone was pretty good as well.

Any Gamepass users on here having trouble getting access? I've been trying on two PCs plus a phone but just can't get past the first page! So annoying.
Back up now - looks like there was a lot of Twitter rage about it. Ah well, my Redzone is starting at 6pm like every other week....

Interesting, first VAR intervention goes in favour of one of the bigots?
55 minutes ago, Rugster said:Well, no. The first intervention was to give a penalty against Celtic.
