"I don't accept that our manifesto was rejected."
Yes, Kezia, it's the voters who are wrong. Christ.0 -
Coral's irritating cash out advert with the whistle. It seems to have been around for ages. I wish blowing a whistle at that calamity could make it stop.

Confirmed panel for tomorrow in Aberdeen: David Mundell, Humza Yousaf, Kezia Dugdale, Jim Sillars and Merryn Somerset-Webb.

The logic behind focusing the PEB on Dugdale will be because the polls show that many people simply don't know who she is - or, perhaps more importantly, haven't formed any strong opinion of her. I thought it was Scottish Labour's best promotional video in quite some time, but that's not saying very much.
Jenny Marra is Scottish Labour's best asset, IMO. She's more authoritative, compelling and, yes, steely than Dugdale. She's seemingly more divisive (see: ambitious) within the Party than Dugdale, but I imagine she would seek nomination if another contest arose in the near future.
It's very difficult to envisage Dugdale as First Minister (not that she should be worrying about this in the near future - or anytime in the future). As alluded to above, it's a similar image problem to the one that faced Miliband. It does matter at the ballot box - regardless of whether you're playing for first, second or third. Sturgeon doesn't have that problem, but Dugdale definitely does. Davidson doesn't really has that problem anymore, either.0 -
Peter Kay's Comedy Shuffle annoys me slightly because it highlights how far Kay has fallen since the genius of Pheonix Nights.
Well, I didn't think Car Share was too bad from what I saw of it, but there's not much beyond that.0 -

Was McGinn taking inspiration from Mark Kerr with his celebration? Looked pointed to me, but perhaps I'm getting the wrong end of the stick.
Collin's kicking was poor and he didn't look particularly comfortable at set pieces, but it is just one game and he came with good reviews. He's unlikely to be the answer, although I imagine he'll have another shot at Parkhead next week. That will be a fairer and sterner test of his abilities.0 -
A more constructive debate than in recent weeks and months, partially because of the relative lack of acrimony between the panelists - or at least the politicians.
I thought Salmond started poorly, with an ill-advised half-defence of Naz Shah. Burnham came close to tying himself in knots at the first question too. After that, both performed well - Burnham was especially strong on Hillsborough, perhaps unsurprisingly. He was also more nuanced on the EU and immigration than some in Labour. Clark didn't say too much of real note, but that's not necessarily a point of criticism.0 -
Pleased that Burnham is on for Labour; one of the few at the top of the Party who can hold his head up high this week. Pity that he'll almost certainly be on the back foot from the start.

I've said before that I've 'liked' a fair few sites like that in order to keep up to date with certain topics, find some old mates and because of the old photos that pop up but the amount of shite like the above that crops up is absolutely astounding.
On top of that there's a fair few who genuinely believe that signing up makes them something special, I'm not trying to discredit those who've been in genuine danger, I'm talking about folk like myself who spent 14 years getting absolutely shit-faced.
To be honest, I'd wager that the vast majority of people who shared that image from the aforementioned page - such as the person who caused it to appear on my News Feed - will never even have come close to serving. Some morons on social media, especially Facebook, for reasons unknown to me, just seem to take great pride in attaching themselves to the most controversial and outlandish opinions going. A desperate cry for attention, I suppose.

There is now a politics coursework element, an assignment worth 1/3 of the overall grade
Ah, I remember hearing that changes were in the offing, but wasn't sure what they contained or whether they'd been enacted. Thanks for correcting.

I made a bet with a friend that I couldn't study in my own time and sit a Higher exam and get an A. What would be the easiest Higher to get an A in? It can't be English, Maths, Geography, Chemistry or Physics. I'm rubbish at Art and languages
Opened this thread on the page of this post, and couldn't help noticing that nobody (as far as I could see) had suggested Higher Politics. That's your free pass to a guaranteed A. Should be considerably easier than some of the others mentioned.
For what it's worth, I'd say History is your second best bet and Modern Studies your third, but Politics is the safest - and easiest - option. The essay questions are basically repeated year upon year. No coursework beyond the NABs either, as far as I'm aware.

Granted the first episode hasn't even aired yet, but I already despise 'Joe & Caspar Hit The Road'. The advert has already got me seething.
Somewhere out there, there will be people desperately looking forward to that show starting. A very unpleasant thought.0 -
Haribo adverts with adults having children's voices dubbed over them. Especially the Tangfastics ones. Awful, awful things.
I was just about to post something similar. Off the top of my head, I'm struggling to think of an advert in recent history that's made me so determined to punch something. Truly appalling.

Struggling to understand what Ryan Jack is bringing to the table. He was virtually anonymous when the chips were down tonight, which is completely unacceptable for a captain. On the rare occasions he did have the ball, he was far too slow and his distribution was dire.
McLean, Shinnie, Robson and McLennan emerged with some credit.0 -
I believe that Jackson Irvine and Michael O'Halloran along with a Loan signing from and English club will be at Aberdeen on Monday. Aberdeen have allowed both players to stay until after this weekends Semi Final games. Goodwillie will be heading to St Johnstone as part of the deal for O'Halloran. A fee of around 150k will be paid for Irvine and around the same for O'Halloran with add ons.
Really hoping Goodwillie doesn't score tonight.

I believe Tansey is still a target but there may be better options out there that we don't need to pay a fee. It was only a rushed job as we weren't aware of his release clause until his agent approached us and advised us of the buy out clause. We then made an offer on the Saturday through the correct channels and didn't get a response from Inverness.
The Kemar Roofe rumours is nonsense as he has plenty offers from top Championship Clubs. The lad has really improved this season and expect him to be sold on for no less than 1 million.
Shay Logan may stay for one further year but if he is to stay it is likely to be a 3 year deal and he will be moving his family up to Aberdeen. He has potential offers from Wigan, Bolton, Oldham all around the area his family stay but I believe he would rather play his football at Aberdeen and have another shot at the Europa League and another trophy. I'm sure there will be other offers down south but he's happy here but would want his family to move up here and have the security of a 3 year contract or only stay one more year max. Its unlikely he would get any more than a 1 or 2 year deal down south.
I know we have been speaking to the agent of Alex Schalk but he is keen on a move to England but currently has had no contact from any clubs down south. Hibs,Hearts & St Johnstone have also noted interest and Ross County have offered him a 2 or 3 year deal.
Did you get this information from the same source that tipped you off about Irvine and O'Halloran? #ITK

If McLean played for Birmingham City, I very much doubt they would be content to sent him out on loan. Shinnie has only played three times for Rotherham since signing. Not in the matchday squad for recent games. Possible he's injured?

I wouldn't drop McLean for any other attacking midfielder in the league right now - he's an outstanding footballer.
There's that too.

Shinnie would get in ahead of just about anyone in your team tbh.
I wouldn't deny how good Shinnie is, but anybody proposing that we sign him should be aware that we could consequently lose one of our current starters. For instance, I seriously doubt that Kenny McLean would be content with sitting on the bench for long periods without eventually seeking a move away - and understandably so.
It's all immaterial though. Andrew Shinnie won't be signing for Aberdeen.

Shinnie
If these two were realistic targets, and they almost certainly are not, who would you drop to include them in the starting XI?

The Tube: Going Underground.

To be fair, Langfield did occasionally leave his line. Unfortunately, this often involved standing a yard behind it rather than coming to claim any crosses - successfully or otherwise.

Tremendous explanation of how arguments work, there. I had always wondered, so pleased to have it clarified.
