Why is bsc game cancelled ?
Covid related or ?
God knows but, this is the third friendly in a week we've had cancelled. Now trying to arrange a friendly with Cumnock who we were due to play last week.
Must be a real frustration for players and management. They did manage to get a game against Queen of The South on Thursday night but don't think anyone was supposed to know about that one.

Small plug for the Stranraer FC Fans Fundraising group.
The group have raised around £6000 for the club in six weeks through various raffles, prize draws etc. We are now looking to use this help more than just the football club and will be walking from Stair Park to Galabank for our first away game of the season. All money raised will be split between MND Scotland and Stranraer FC Fans Fundraising.
The route will cover 94.5 miles, which we plan to cover over three days, hoping to make it in time for kick off on the 24th of October.
Any donation or mention is most welcome.
You can donate at -
Many thanks,
Matt

Game against an English side fell through, we’ll now play Ballymena at Stair Park instead.Sheffield United wanted a game against us but was before we are even due to start training.

No free entrance for kids this season .
Hopefully no more moves to push supporters or potential support away.
We were on to a good thing last season with the youngsters last seasons real shame to let it slip.
Credit were credit is due. Guys running the club have revisited this.
Well done all.

Good listen cheers. Steve Farrell always comes across well post match interviews.
Nice to listen to something a bit more in-depth.1 -

Jamie Adams has signed for Creetown on the basis that he only plays on grass parks. Great signing for Creetown none the less!
A fair coup for Creetown. A fit Jamie Adams wouldn’t of been shy of offers.
Unfortunately the boy has a nightmare with injuries. Still a managed to have a decent career which is testament to his character.
Jamie was offered a deal at Stranraer but, felt League 2 might be too much for his body. Admire him for recognising this. Many a player over the years has been happy to sit and take a pay packet knowing fine well they’re not up to it.
Looking forward to seeing a good competitive Creetown side.

So apparently the virus can only survive for a few hours on hard surfaces apart from in unused football facilities where it can survive for monthsEven at that cost and the cost of testing for Covid at every league game we still have change from the £50000 grant every club received.

Great news tonight about Andy Stirling. If Faz can get him anywhere near back to his best we’ll be on to something.
Slightly disappointed with the other news tonight regarding season tickets.
£180 for 14 games compared to £215 for 18 last season.
£12.85 per game compared to £11.94 a game on last seasons.
Add in that general admission this season is cheaper than last it makes it even worse value.
In addition to this we’re a league below last with a manager who could only muster two league wins.
Around £8000 raised by supporters in recent months. It would of been nice to see a thank you reflected in the price of the season ticket.
No doubt this comes across as me being very tight, for the record I’ll be stupid or loyal enough still to pay it.
Detailed realises from the club on this -
The shorter season effectively ment reductions on season ticket could not be as much as usual with the outcome being its effectively just over one game free and we are aware that to some who know beforehand that they may miss games, it is not a cost effective as normal. The alternative as some clubs have taken the choice is not to produce season tickets for season 20/21.
The club to start up again will have to put a lot of time, effort and cost into this happening. It may well be a bus and individual cars are required for the squad and managementeven to attend games. Deep clean stadium pre-start will be in the region of 5K with ongoing cleaning cost to SFA covid awareness standard at a much higher cost than normal measures. Marking ect for social distancing all have be put in place with hospitality, if allowed at all, cut dramatically. Then we have the real financial drain, if still the process, of player and backroom staff testing either once at £1500 a week or twice at £3000. All these factors while trying to give the manager a budget that allows him to put together a competitive squad that entertains and hopefully excites the fans all put together mean it is a huge juggling act for our tresurer to fund all aspects of the club0 -

glad to see prices drop by a quid for a lower league. Any chance the two threads can be merged admin
Should be £150 a game to celebrate 150 years.

Fraser Cantley?Jeez that’s a haunting memory.
His goals conceded per game average could be the worst in the country.
To put a positive spin on he did help us see the back of Derek Ferguson.1 -

Paul Cairney back at Stair Park next season with Albion Rovers. Hopefully the shapeless one we saw in his early days with Stranraer.

Is it just Lewis Mccintyre that has made step up from the reserves ?
Believ so. Apparently Scott Phillips has been invited to pre season training.

Mark McGeown played for us for 10 years, he was one of a quartet of excellent goalkeepers who had a run of 30 years in the team from 1969 - Geordie Young, Graham Arthur, Andy Graham and Mark gave very few opportunities to their reserves most of whom disappeared into history. One of the few other names I can recall from that era was Lindsay Hamilton and that only because of his disastrous 4 game loan spell from Rangers with us. Given his long career he must have been better that he showed for the Albion.
Think he joined Stranraer at the same time as Andy Patterson from Stirling Albion.
Was excited about both joining but Patterson hardly kicked a ball for us. Bad luck with injuries.0 -

One of their Reserves works for me and he says they’ve made really good signings and he fully expects them to compete at the right end of League 2 this Season ! I still believe there’ll be limited opportunities for these young lads although I might be wrong and time will tell
Would guess it will be much the same. First team running with a small squad, fill the bench with reserves when there are injuries or suspensions, take them up to Angus Or Elgin and give them two minutes football.
Don’t think the manager realises how good some of there boys are. Not one of them has looked out of place when given the opportunity.
Credit to the South team last season, second half of the season they were losing their best players week in week out and still looked a terrific team.1 -
In recent years it would have to be David Mitchel and Max Currie. Both came in as young boys with little experience, got a few seasons under the belts and got a move. Two fantastic keepers.
We had David McGurn for a short time. Looked a very solid keeper and highly rated everywhere else he’s been.
Going back to the last time we won the league Michael McGovern was fantastic. Has went on to have a good career for himself too.
Some hold Cammy Belford in high regards but I thinking he was a clown. More interested in being a show pony. Mistake away to Ayr United was embarrassing.
Worst recently would have to be Connor Brennan. He didn’t stick about too long as he was recalled by Kilmarnock. I’m guessing he’s improved or just has a really good agent.
Since I started following Stranraer we’ve had guys like, Barney Duffy, Gary Matthews, John Hillcoat and Mark McGeown. All very good.

And Joao is back!
Hopefully a full season a full season with us will bring out the best in him.
Showed us in glimpses what he can do.Quite a few offensive players now in Joao, Hilton, Elliot, Duffy, Orr and Paton.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Andy Stirling to that list. Didn’t do much last season, but who did? We all know what he can do.3 -

Started early this season Mattmc on the negative posts, thankfully we had Hamill to but balls in the box last season I personally have never saw Jamie putting aimless balls in, one of his strengths is perfectly weighted balls up field . My opinion
Fingers crossed I’m proven wrong. More than happy to construct something more positive if it’s warranted.
If you have the time scroll through P&B and you’ll see I have been complementary of Jamie Hamill at times. As I said if Duffy can get on the end of these balls he’ll be fine. To me that’s a positive. If he can’t get on the end of them, that would be negative.

I see a few of the WOS big boys have decided to withdraw from their league this season, notably Talbot. Any scope to pick up a few players?
Not that are squad is in desperate need of it.
