  1. Last night, they bothered to get award winning documentary maker Margot McCuaig on to talk about the demise of Third Lanark and then let Chick "Chick" Young and Archie McFuckingPherson talk all over the top of her. What could have been an interesting segment turned into two old men saying names aloud, guessing numbers, and misremembering things.
  2. Agree with this. It's always annoyed me that there's no quick link on the header of the Football page to get to Scottish Football. There is for Women's football, which is great, but why do I need to scroll down to the bottom of the page or hope for some tidbit in the main section of the page. It'd be so easy to do but --meh -- f**k it.
  3. A couple of good guesses (Central Asian dead presidents, ridiculously specific Australian sporting leagues) inflates Friday's result up to 7/10. Huzzah!
  4. I was half-asleep this morning when I listened to this and the thought did cross my mind of, "Wait a minute. Ian Cathro's back at Hearts?"
  5. Out in February in the UK. Was in and out of town in a hurry over here.
  6. Paddington 2 -- Just perfect. Brilliant casting of Hugh Grant as the baddie and Brendon Gleeson as Knuckles McGinty. In these days of Marvel Universe pish where plot takes a backseat to CGI and things exploding and shoehorning characters just for the sake of it, it's quite rare to get a movie as joyously beautiful as this, where it's all heart and simple storytelling and genuinely laugh out loud funny. I absolutely loved it. 10/10
  7. My co-worker picked up the tab. In term of value for money, I thought the Highland Park 25 was better. $50 for a nip of that nectar feels like charity. (Almost)
  8. There’s a big city mark up too. At dinner I paid 15 for a shot of Laphroaig that I can get at home for 5. The Macallan 25 was beautiful.
  9. Here’s the whisky menu from the hotel I’m staying at in Chicago. They also have Highland Park 25 for $50 which is heavenly. Working up to asking for the Macallan 25.
  10. Used to be my local. Was a great pub when it first opened. Dozens of beers on tap and they even had a cheeky bottle of Yamazaki, which for a Japanese whisky was quite delicious. Seemed to have gone downhill a bit when I was last there, back in 2015.
  11. You get a better overall view from the Canadian side, IMO. Having said that, other than the view, the Canadian side is a tourist trap hole, you can get closer on the American side to water falling off a cliff, so it's worth while to do it from both sides if you can. It feels to me like you're cramming an awful lot of travel and hanging around airports to really enjoy it in a day. You should be able to get a car much cheaper than £80. If you book ahead on something like Priceline you could get something like a Ford Fusion for around $40.
  12. Glad it's not just me. Although, I quite liked Lithgow's pantomime baddy. I remember going to see this as the ABC in Falkirk when it came out. Ally Sheedy -- an Anna Kendrick of the 80s IMO.
  13. I can confirm it was indeed Glen-Rowths.
  14. A lovely wee art house cinema in Mystic, Connecticut.
  15. Picked up a bottle of The Glenrothes Vintage Reserve randomly in a liquor store in Mystic, Connecticut. I had to explain to the guy how to pronounce Glenrothes. You can imagine what his initial stab was. Anyway, it's quite lovely.
