  1. Neither the PFA and SPFL have made a public statement as far as I can see and with the chancellor casting doubts over if that's what the scheme should be used for I would only be comfortable with the club following their advice if it was guaranteed, otherwise we risk the whole football club. I agree the decision making process should be given, but I actually think we have done the right thing here.
  2. It does cost the taxpayer a great deal though. I actually think the club have been perfectly sensible (unpopular opinion thread for this pish) as the chancellor has been asked about the unique circumstances footballers are in and didn't sound like he endorsed attempts by clubs to extend wages. He said that HMRC will protect the taxpayer and the scheme should be used by those in "genuine employment", it's pretty clear that despite it being a nice thing to do, extending players contracts by a month may be framed as misuse of the scheme and who knows what punishment HMRC will have dreamt up by the time the bill for this is produced. You would have hoped both the PFA and the SPFL would have spent the last 8 weeks in talks with the UK government seeking the assurances instead the SPFL have been dealing with infighting. As we get more clarity on the situation then we can out the players back on 100% of their wages or renegotiate with them to take the 80% but doing it this way will ensure should HMRC decide this is not what the scheme is to be used for we haven't promised employment longer than we can afford and haven't risked the entire clubs and the livelihoods of those effected. The entire situation is difficult, those simplifying it are I feel letting the powers above football clubs get off Scot free, the SPFL should have been on this situation straight away, the government should have clarified their policy and Universal Credit shouldn't be the cliff edge it will be if you go from £2500 to UC.
  3. Didn't see that advice, however is this the best use of public money and I think HMRC will have looking closely at this because you are effectively recontracting because the government is paying the wages rather than hoping they will be able to work for you again. The Government will be looking for any excuse at the end of this and I think it is possibly a needless risk and could risk all the government cash we have already received
  4. Nothing to suggest this won't happen again in the short term. Until we clamp down on illegal meat trade and climate change more generally "normal" life will get battered left right and centre
  5. £17.8 black hole. I hope they sell something off before writing to the chancellor. It always pissed me off the NHS write out to folk on the cheapest paper they can buy and folk are riding about in gold wagons pretending we have money to burn
  6. A guy I work with has a rare cancer and has still been going in for CT scans to keep an eye on it, hopefully this is the case for most people and if things start to get worse they can intervene.
  7. If you're accountable to the Scottish people I think she embraced the role I don't think it's wise to embrace the virus My biggest bug bear of that report was that it made us sound like we were the only one taking a different stance when in fact it's England that have basically gone "f**k the poor"
  8. Same organisation that suspended Micheal Stewart for an "biased" opinion piece. You won't be surprised to know she is as of this morning still working away.
  9. All the briefings I have seen have said only elective surgery has been cancelled. No doubt some of these will be of more immediate need than others but urgent treatments are still happening. Maybe I'm miss interpreting your post but you sound quite critical of the NHS, I think the way they have completely changed their work is incredible, most of the routine surgery that was cancelled was probably going to be for patients who were in the high risk group so shouldn't have attended a hospital anyway. I do worry about cancer screening but hopefully they can get moving again shortly. I think London was never close to the capacity of their beds by all accounts however they very nearly ran out of staff.
  10. Is @Cardinal Richelieu in favour of the churches new baptism system?
