  1. I would love to know what Boris thinks of himself, does he lack the self awareness to think everyone thinks he's doing a good job and he doesn't need to appear more than once a fortnight at the max or does he really not care. The First Minister has been doing a briefing 6 days a week for as long as this has been going on, I can see how some of the decisions can be criticized but in terms of being open and transparent she is doing well. Also pisses me off that the UK briefing has never had a Northern Irish publication asking questions as far as I know and almost never has regional news asking questions.
  2. Proof that voting for a rosette doesn't work, who in their right mind would vote for her. She shouldn't be elected never mind a minister doesn't look like she has control of her thoughts never mind a government department.
  3. I personally don't think we should rename anything that has a troubled past, if people don't educate themselves then I don't know what we can do. The caveat I would add is that I'm a white guy the street is named after a nasty white guy but if it made people of other ethnicities uncomfortable then I would say take it down but it should absolutely make white Scots feel uncomfortable that our countrymen profited from the sale of humans. There is a reason the fairfone isn't a market leader... In Britian I worry that this is just one big social media stunt I hope things change but I very much doubt it. If the amount of people I saw do blackout Tuesday actually made one change in their lives the world would be a better place already.
  4. Forgive my ignorance but I guess the reason we are taught about the Atlantic Slave Trade is because that's what we (the Scots/ Brits) were closest aligned to and made a hell of a lot of cash from. The other slave trades to mention as far as I know didn't have the same level of UK interference. There is a lot of evil shit in the world but I don't thin it's realistic to teach everyone everything at school, for example the street names in Glasgow in particular if you didn't know that why not? Take some interest in where you live and the people that lived there only by doing that will we avoid the atrocities the generations made before. As for modern slavery I did learn about that at school but not in any great detail however I doubt folk care now if they can't see people in chains they will brush it off. A number of companies that trade in the UK use prison labour in the US which is basically slavery. I don't think people will stop using Asda or McDonald's - price is the big driver in the UK and US not ethics
  5. I have seen quite a few posts about Slavery being taught in schools. It is in Scotland. Maybe not as well as I can be but it is being taught.
  6. I would imagine that traveling from the UK to anywhere with a lower R will require a 2 week quarantine (Spain saying all arrivals pre 1st July just now but I think that will be extended) also looks like the North of England are seeing their infection rate rise again so localised lockdowns may be back before you can travel to Yorkshire to leave the UK.
  7. He made it back in peak lockdown. Tbh I think he would suit a war zone
  8. I'm all their modelling will be done with no inside contact, we all know the virus can survive on hard surfaces inside for a lot longer than then it can outside, so unless the entire bathroom is being sterilised between visits then its a totally unnecessary risk. I think the rules are lenient enough looking forward to seeing my uncle for the first time in 13 weeks but I wont be going inside or staying long enough to need the toilet, I could see him every day now if I wanted. The only thing I would change is publishing the risk so people know just how risky it is to sit with someone outside less than 2 meters away and use the same toilet etc. The virus hasn't disappeared and its a bit of a shame aren't following the guidance to the letter because I really don't fancy another prolonged lockdown.
  9. I agree it's an easy way for the police to lock folk up, however America like the UK prefers to ignore it's difficult history. America is the riches country in the world thanks entirely to their slave trade. It's no wonder that they still have people in power who treat black people like shit. I don't think legalising weed is the big win people think it would be, I doubt in America you would be able to buy it before you're 21 so the police will still be able to lock up hundreds of young black men as they do now. Education would hopefully crack the system open.
  10. There should be news in the next week or 2, hopefully it will relax things enough for you to see her but I doubt it will be anything more than a physically distanced chat in her house. It's really tough, which is why I find it so infuriating that folk are taking the piss when other folk are still in a very restricted lockdown.
  11. If she is in the shielding category she shouldn't be seeing anyone outwith her house hold, other than a care provider, until June 12th at the earliest. She should also be limiting the contact she has with non shielding members of her household where possible.
  12. That's a fantastic speech but tells you everything that's wrong with the US that the most liberal issue he can think of is the legalization of Cannabis, f**k free health care, don't fancy gun control, abortion rights, free education or ending salve labour in US prisons. It's utterly unbelievable. I despair that the international community haven't really called the US out more, if this level of state violence was seen in the middle east, Africa or Asia there would be serious international condemnation
  13. I assume as airlines can prevent you from boarding without a mask could the train operators not do the same, it would mean you could sit closer than 2m
  14. Doesn't Scotland's largest population centers already have the highest levels of infection? Asking people to stay in their local area is clear guidance. It would be a real worry if the country could only follow laws rather than sensible advice.
  15. If I was to choose any poster to be pilling up on me (not euph) it would be you.
  16. The most outrageous thing is that Boris has Dom and 3 other advisors all of which are paid between £140,000 and £145,000 of public money this sorry state really does beg the question how shite are the other three picking up nearly half a million pounds of public coin if they can't run the show
  17. Quite a few ways in or out, one of my biggest bug bears is that you can't get up to Downing Street, no reason it shouldn't be open to pedestrians.
  18. Pretty difficult to get to his workplace unless you have a press pass
  19. The latest scandal is Give revealing he took 7 attempts to pass his driving test, he should be left alone with an electric sharpener let alone a government department. Also he too drives to check his eyesight.
