    Hmm, perhaps like Gary Harkins?

Signed by a well regarded manager at Morton. I guess that would have been seen as seriously lazy too? Certainly some of our supporters would be apoplectic with rage.emoji16.png

However, perhaps Duffy thinks there is potential there to be exploited. Here's a thought...perhaps Houston thinks the same about Harris.

    okay Alex we get it.

Harris was being played in behind the striker towards the end of the season and had apparently been trained to play there since January. He could've been a very good player If some motherwell clogger hadn't broken his ankle. Don't expect him to go into a 50/50 as he is about a 9 in the shinnie shitebag ratings.

Cant see him being used there at all with Craigen and potentially Sibbald, wide right aw day.

Has anyone actually thought that as much as they may not have been the greatest at previous clubs they might actually fit in and do a decent job for us and Houston might see something in them we don't, we wouldn't be signing them if they were gash (Rankin aside although am pretty sure Yogi was after him in the past for us).  How many players have been signed in the past and you have thought f**k me he will never be decent yet have went on to surprise us,

personally its a bit meh, club cant say this is 'our time' then sign a player who couldnt even make the hibs bench before being loaned out to a mid table team and being bang average.

Dear heavens the Bairns seem constantly in a state of rage

Also they seem to have plenty spare time, are you all living off the state

Get a job and keep my pension up :whistle

Believe it or not but businesses through here actually have this crazy invention called computers, probably an alien concept to a Paisley mutant tho.

I forgot about the betfred cup that nearly put me off going back three penalties at Perth losing to stirling Albion. Realising kidd and Rankin were the new hope. hope we get off to a better start this season

Aye hopefully get a fairly easy group so we can test out new signings (if any) and young players e.g Shephard, O'Hara etc. The less said about the cup last year the better

How is he similar to Shepherd other than being ginger?

aye pretty much this, Murray picks up the ball just off the centre circle and defenders back off every time, i think the spittal goals says it all, 5 players around him and no one picking up the wide man, shite defending i know but they also clearly identified him as the big threat.

Although on the subject of Shepherd I actually want to see him play a lot of the pre season and Betfred cup just to see if there is a player in there to warrant the 2 year deal.

I'd happily put a bet on with you about that if I could think of a way of winning it. Unfortunately the chances of getting the gaffer to make a public statement about a young player who's signed for another club are pretty much non-existent.

You'ld probably be surprised about how extensive a knowledge the coaching staff - and manager - have of players elsewhere. Which is why I think a lot of the stick they get is unfair and tend to defend them both on here and COYB.

Put it this way - over the next month or so, you'll see the club announcing signings from a similar level to Albion Rovers. These will be youngsters who'll play for either the U20s or U18 sides next year. If we can identify players at a younger age, then it's a reasonable assumption that we knew about the guy you're referring to.

Who are you talking about BTW? I was looking at the St Mirren website and it shows a 22 year old goalie from Albion Rovers (Ross Stewart) and a 25-year old midfielder from Alloa (Jordan Kirkpatrick) who scored 17 goals. I can't find:

They are both called Ross Stewart I believe.

I get you. Rory Loy does that for me, though. And I think he's more realistic. He can beat a man, score a pile driver or slip someone through. Going back to his goal against us at St Mirren away in the 2-1 when he rolled the defender and squeezed it in with his weaker foot, his poachers volley for Saints at TFS and then his belter for us in the 3-2 at Hearts, he can do it all. Also think he'd be a great partner for Austin.

Said that as soon as it was confirmed that we are staying down, will easily get us 15+ goals and aye should be good next to Austin, I moaned at him in his last year with Falkirk cause he was a bit lazy but if someone next to him can do the running I would take the back in a second.

I'd love Botti back. Not sure Botti and Austin would work as a partnership and Houston would never do it but I would be up for it.

I just really want a striker similar to the way Simon Murray plays, in those play off games he made me scared anytime he picked up the ball near our box, as much as I love Austin I don't think he does that.

He only signed for them last summer, I doubt Albion Rovers did a 72 game season.

Tbf if you look on the St Mirren website they said 12 in 72 I was just going from that, fair play if its 12 in 25 not bad for someone his age.

Be a bit like us signing Austin last year I guess

Wouldn't say so, Austin was practically scoring every game for East Fife and was player of the year in that division, appreciate the guy is young but he has scored 12 in 72 apps, not really what we should be looking at.

i like baird as well but if he stays houston has to think about when to use him..ie its not a good idea to stick him up front (at times this season on his lonesome)...& hoof high balls in his general dierection...hes a niggly little all action type who must be murder to play against but he doesnt have the build to be physical...as an impact sub to make the difference in a tight game id deffo keep him

He's never made an impact from the bench so idk what your basing that on, I honestly love Bairdy, been brilliant during his time at the club but hopefully his time is done he can move on and we can sign an actual consistent goalscorer on his wages.

100% agree. Let's see what happens in the next few weeks. Houston is due us a gem and an out the blue signing that no other manager thought of and beat everyone else in the league to! We can dream!! Lol

Personally I would be looking at players released from League 1/2 teams from England like Vaulks was, real hunger for it and a point to prove, also agree with people on this and question Houston's interest in speaking to other players.

We need to add quality and really go for it this season. None of this tippy, tappy, conservative, let's see it out, boring shite tactics from Houston. With Hearts, Hibs and Sevco gone surely we can't be scared of anyone and resort to negative, keep it tight football. Free flowing football and plenty of points on the board from the start next season will get the fans on board and increase numbers. Is this in Houstons makeup though or is it win at all costs and bore us all to tears!!

I would say the best thing to get fans on board at this time of the year is with some solid signings to show a sign on intent from the get go, Kerr at CM again isn't making me rush out to get my season ticket.
