  1. I think you have nailed it. Agree with that. Definitely Cochrane for Ferguson though as I’ve lost patience with his lightweight empty jersey appearances. Ditto Logan who on the highlights had a major responsibility for us shipping those two goals. Would love us to attack with pace. Sadly we will probably park the bus again. Still I have my ticket…
  2. Yes capable guy and good communicator. Should be a clue to what’s needed
  3. Yes I was defending Bartley. If had been interviewing him I would have given him the job. I liked the fresh appointment, professional approach etc. however as Einstein said the definition of madness is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. The same chap stated that the mark of intelligence is having the power to change your mind. Although Bartley looked promising last season and has been unlucky with injuries the continual Groundhog Day in team selection, three at the back, triangles etc doesn’t work and the football remains awful since injured players returned and 1 win in 9 is unacceptable. Same old and it doesn’t work. when I was still defending him we were 3-4 points off the playoffs with injured players to return. I’ve changed my mind and sadly he refuses to learn, stuck in a rut and I think he should be replaced asap. It’s that simple. I think football managers get replaced too quickly and do he was due a chance but now it’s time to go before we fall through the trap door. You need the right Board and leadership at the top but I don’t disagree that we need a manager that can recruit to get us up, can spot and obtain a player, is good on tactics and dubs and develops youth. I would go back for McCall
  4. I sit on 2 Boards of companies and you are absolutely correct. Although our current board are savvy business people and have done their best I think we need a change, ideally with the potential for fresh ideas backed by new capital investment. I do think it’s also an opportunity for a more inclusive relationship with the fan base.
  5. I wouldn’t disagree on your assessment of Mark and Craig. We owe the Blount family much in rescuing the club from the Harkness era ( George, Marks grandfather was a lovely man and supported Queens until he was 99 and I’ve known Norman for years and he is a super chap and very good businessman). The Paterson’s are Queens through and through with Craig not only being a very well respected man but his father, John, is always charming and has put in untold hours of voluntary work for the club. If they were part of a future Board then I would be delighted. We do though need to be open minded about new strategic Board leadership and we may or may not need a change of ownership to do this.
  6. My point is now is a critical time to think about the future leadership of this club to ensure future success accepting that the bid might not want to sell but anyone that might want to fundamentally invest to improve us would probably like control. I’m not suggesting we go full on Wrexham but it’s not exactly working at the moment is it. It galls me to see the likes of Airdrie doing so well and we are in the doldrums. Let’s just open our minds to all possibilities. It does irritate me like a lot of you folks that even as a shareholder we really have no say in this.
  7. You are entitled to your view but I simply want us to take an open minded approach on the way forward at this important juncture rather than the same old and us continue our slide into the nether regions of Scottish football, fan disinterest and possible oblivion. Ok hands up we may not have been this bad for 24, 30 or 50 years. I simply had no inclination to rake through years of tables. It just feels like a lifetime since we watched attractive football, actually could win a home match and looked forward to promotion and not relegation. I want to enjoy watching Queens again. It really is that simple…
  8. Possibly not but hey better to consider all options rather than sleepwalk into another arrangement that may lead to no progress in the next 30 years. I’m open minded. It surely can’t be worse than what we have suffered in the last 5 years. I’m certainly not voting as a shareholder to sell to unsuitable owners but I can’t take another season as bad as this.
  9. Thanks for the pedentary. My mistake. We are only the worst we have been in the last 30 years, that will be ok ok then
  10. Due diligence would be important but there are people that potentially would just love the challenge of getting us up the leagues that still are potentially altruistic. Of course some merely want a feeder club or to get their paws on good real estate, they would have to be vetted out. I remain open minded and see this as a great opportunity for a reset. Let’s face it we have suffered a decade of decline and are at our worst position in the Scottish football pyramid in 50 years so we have to grab this opportunity to do better. The alternative is part time status, potential relegation to division 2 and a long long time in the seaside leagues. Given our history we surely deserve better than this.
  11. Agree with that. The Norman Blount reboot post the Harkness era is a great example. All this talk of keep it local and don’t look at ‘foreign’ options smacks of small time thinking too….we need to stem the stench of decay and underachievement at Queens now. Starting with a committed, attacking performance and win at the weekend to banish the ghost of Division 2. Then let’s look at a strategic vision with competent people that can propel us upward.
  12. I didn’t go. Had a really lovely walk again. First time I’ve enjoyed a Saturday afternoon in ages. One win in the last nine. Shambolic. How many goals have we conceded from set pieces this year. Not losing next week is key. 191 formation coming up.
  13. Yes we have to go out to try and win the key games. Relegation would be a disaster. Stay up then regroup. It really has been an awful watch this season. I had such high hopes for Marv but it just isn’t working and sadly I don’t see it getting any better with injured players back. The formation, selection and tactics last Saturday were appalling. It was a horrible watch.
  14. You put it better than I ever could. Tinpot is right. This is a crucial juncture for the club and we need to consider all potential options, do due diligence and have a vision, strategy and business plan for the future. Not just punt it to Bob Smith from Thornhill and run away…I want to be surprised in a good way but if this is like their track record in identifying good managers then I’m afraid,
  15. That is slightly concerning in that it sounds a bit small time and up in the air.
  16. You got any constructive ideas then. Because I have…
  17. Not sure. Obviously need to do due diligence but I wouldn’t rule anyone out if they have vision, a strategy, business competence, deep pockets and integrity. Just being local hasn’t progressed this club in 25 years.
  18. It’s great we can always rely on you to find a negative slant! New Board and new beginnings after 7 years of decline. It’s an opportunity. Be positive!
