  1. Were any of the other eight buses run on the rim for a significant distance? I passed that bus that night. I've seen welders or angle grinders giving off less sparks. Had never quite seen anything like it...
  2. Did they tweet out the wrong team graphic then try and cover their backs by saying it was a swap, rather than their mistake?
  3. If Ryan McGowan has been told he can leave, part of that decision could be in the belief he'll be easier to fix up with another club, given how well-travelled he is. But for all he's been a better signing than I anticipated and actually had some good games in midfield, he's been soft in challenges against both Hearts and County that resulted in goals. I mean, Crawford will definitely be one of the players, but good luck trying to shift him on the wage he earns. He isn't walking away from his contract without either us subsidising it (loan) or some set of mugs being prepared to offer him the security of two years full-time. Will emphasise though that the contract he's on is in no way his fault. I guess he was just part of the "rebuilding" process...
  4. No real issue with the added on time. Hopefully keep seeing the same every week. Saints are always going to try and frustrate Celtic by slowing things down but that time should be added. It'll never stop Saints killing time at Celtic Park but will hopefully reduce the inevitability of it when the first goal is scored in games between more evenly matched sides. I don't actually think we are the worst for it across the league but no team is innocent. Spoke before the game about looking for a shape and discipline and it was on display. Hopefully a reset moment after a tough start. With another couple of signings, this is certainly going to be Steven MacLean's squad.

  6. The streets have most definitely forgotten Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson.
  7. Turning your nose up at perfectly pretty girls in the deluded hope you are going to bag prime Kylie Minogue, only to end up with Anne Widdecombe at 3:00am.
  8. Link: https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/st-johnstone/4639450/st-johnstone-need-to-modernise-their-recruitment-structure-for-the-long-term-says-steven-maclean/ Probably no coincidence that MacLean has gone down this route on the same day he's brought in a kid on loan from Burnley to fill a targeted position. The problem is we are almost throwing a dead man a life vest now. I'm certainly not throwing in the towel two games into the season but the time for this structure was long before now. Tommy Wright was asking for it 5 years ago. The reason is two-fold. If we do go down then these sort of roles are the first to go as part of cost-cutting but also, St Johnstone in the Championship don't need a recruitment structure, we have the capacity to just sign the best players available for that sort of level. It's in the Premiership that it is so much more vital to us.
  9. Who knew the attacker we'd been waiting all this time for was *double checks name* Dara Costelloe. I, for one, welcome the new Robbie Keane to McDiarmid Park.
  10. Maybe @RandomGuy. could get his great, great grandfather to tell him about this one.
  11. I did this and he says he'll pass it on to the club. Areas being dirty is one thing (and McDiarmid certainly isn't perfect) but bird shit isn't really acceptable. Zero idea what the point of stewards is at the football now either. Guys that are visiting a stadium for the first time about an hour before fans start arriving. What exactly is their role?
  12. County miles ahead of Saints yesterday, helped no doubt by a familiarity. Made a mistake in the Saints thread where I spoke about only one new signing when it was two but they looked like a team and a unit with a plan. The midfield didn't see a lot of the ball but what's the need when you can easily get at a fragile defence with diagonals or simple balls over the top. Will they do well this season? Probably not exceptionally but at this moment in time, Saints have a long way to go to even reach their level. That is the polite part. I think @SJFCtheTeamForMe mentioned it but the away section was absolutely rank. Seats and floors covered in bird shit. £28 and you can't even make the effort to clean the stand.
  13. You look rationally at it and wonder just what the manager can do with the squad he currently has available. There is zero presence up front, zero pace out wide and zero full backs full stop. How do you mould that into a team? Especially when you are playing against a side that, I think, only started one new signing yesterday? Maybe some managers could achieve it but ours is a dozen games into his career. As I say, what was/is the answer? So when he gets the injured players/new signings available he probably has around a dozen more players to pick from. That's the rational argument. But then I look at James Brown (not ours) and Nathaniel Atkinson and even when we have everyone fit we won't have anything like that quality at right back. Maybe understandable with Hearts but if County have players so much better than us, who doesn't? I understand he didn't want to release absolutely everyone (although in fairness he did come close) but James Brown (our one) as a starting full back just won't cut it and we are covering a turd in glitter with the talking up of Gallacher as well. The two new young defenders showed their naivety yesterday and will need to learn very quickly but they are getting f**k all help from the experienced faces around them. Maybe no help though is better than being moaned at constantly as is the offering from our experienced head in midfield. The best thing Liam Gordon did yesterday was tell Graham Carey to shut the f**k up and stop moaning. Of course we should feel sorry for Stevie May being asked to do what he's being tasked with but he's 30-years-old now, he needs to get the sleeves rolled up, adapt, and try to offer a bit more to a struggling side. Just fucking win some fouls at least, then at least we can let Carey put a free kick straight out of play or something. A lot of this could have been in the match thread but it did start with a general point on trying to keep a cool head. As you can see, that disappeared as the post went on. I would say another game isn't going to kill us (although a Jack Ross-type humiliation at Celtic Park might change the conversation) so need to try and just spend the next 3 weeks getting the squad in a MUCH better place.
  14. Sam North - and vloggers in general - are absolutely harmless. Zero surprise to see that bullying can be added to the anti-social behaviour of these self-appointed best fans that so many clubs seem to be garnering.
  15. Fair question but don't think it's a disaster that neither we, nor indeed the manager, know the answer yet. If he wants to play two strikers - and as a result two CMs - then they need to be able to get about the pitch. If he's playing Smith (the passer?) and McGowan or Phillips (destroyer) then does he need someone to get up in support of a striker but also do their shift in midfield? Essentially someone to compete with Ballantyne. He obviously likes him but going from where he was a few months ago to playing 30 plus games this season is a big ask.
  16. Positive they've managed to move pretty quickly on a goalkeeper. Hopefully a sign they are building a database of players. To lose two goalkeepers to breaks just about sums up our luck at the moment. The manager is remaining calm and positive and the club seem to be doing all they can to back him though. Will the support do the same?
  17. Surely the easiest way to find which poster is Macca is to ask who really hates their dad...
  18. If MacLean can add another three permanent signings then he's put a decent foundation in place. The types he's added so far have been so encouraging. Three or four guys who have serious international ambitions, maybe even all five depending on Olufunwa's situation with Nigeria. Complete contrast to last summer. It's the simplest thing in the world to just tell supporters where you are looking to strengthen then doing it. It's something Davidson just couldn't seem to comprehend with his clandestine approach. Give the supporters something to get behind.
