We really should have a thread purely for the BBC's f**k ups.

Click on Scottish Football > Fixtures there's never a mention of Euro ties. Apparently the Cumbernauld v Hamilton U20's is the only Scottish game on tonight then there's no other match until Saturday. Do the same on the main site Football > Fixtures and you get the lot.

Again, it's basic stuff that lot can't get right.

To be fair to the BBC, the European fixtures are always kept separately (just as they are on betting websites and other sources such as Sky Sports) and it is the same for English fixtures when there are European games on.

  2. I Sky plussed it. The two they've done before with the Sky team have been good.

On Armisted, I see she's released a statement saying that she did protest the first missed test with a written explanation but that it wasn't accepted at the time (I wonder why CAS accepted it when UKAD didn't), and that another missed test was due to the person who was assigned to make sure she didn't miss another leaving his post. All seems a bit too much like a Parlour Farce to me?

In other news, the UCI have increased the number of World Tour events and now the Tour of California and London-Surrey Classic are included at that level.

  3. The USA considering a bid for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. I think I heard the other day that RL is getting some good participation numbers in North America now. Will be interesting to see if they take the plunge and go over there.

  4. Nicholas Roche also leaving Sky to join BMC. Seemed to never do much at Sky - you'd think with his grand tour experience he'd be leading the team at the Giro or Veulta or be one of Froome's super-domestiques for the TdF.

  5. Super League in rugby used to do something like your 12 team solution which meant 4 lots of Wigan v St Helens and Leeds v Bradford games and close games neat the end of the season. At least that's how I remember it. Maybe one of the big RL fans can confirm that. It certainly seemed to work and there weren't too many complaints (although there are also play offs to decide the champions which had never really been a popular suggestion in football).

  6. We need an actual second striker as Moffat is never going to be effective on his own or with a support striker playing off him. It's a shame Paton never got any game time despite being on the bench the last two games as I'd feel a lot better with him on the right than McCabe (I'd rather anyone that McCabe in that position though to be fair). Geggan being back will be a big plus for us too. Hopefully a solid win in front of a decent crowd before two tough away games.

  7. Surely you only wear the race leader's jersey in the race you're actually leading? It's only the World Champion's Rainbow jersey and National Champion's stripes you can wear in a different race isn't it?

  8. Nobody watching the Challenge Cup semi final on BBC2? Bruising start and Wigan 6-0 up on Hull. Huge Hull support but not so much from Wigan. I cancelled my Sky Sports ages ago so I'm glad to get my RL fix.

That's why you have separate turnstiles, one turnstile for full paying adults and one for concessions. It inconveniences fans because they have the possibility of queuing twice, once at the ticket office and then again at the turnstile.

Having separate gates for adults and concessions has a bigger inconvenience for many people - adults taking young kids to a game who don't want them to be split up won't want them to go through separate queues, especially if one is a lot longer than the other.

  10. Quintana clearly had something wrong with him. Contador crashed twice was ill then abandoned, Nibili had come off a pretty tough win in the Giro (send nobody these days can do a Giro - Tour double), Porte (a former Sky donestiqueof course and now a ggenuine GC contender) should have probably been on the podium but for his mechanical then the incident on Mont Venteux... it's not as if Froome and Sky blew away a stellar field. You get the impression that they only take part in the Giro and Veulta because they have to - the other teams and riders don't think that way - and they have by far the biggest budget. Maybe it's just that simple?

  11. Having just returned from Genova I'll be paying a bit more attention to Genoa and Sampdoria this season. Went to the Genoa football museum which was quite an interesting wee diversion for only €5 but despite getting the bus past the stadium there didn't seem to be tours or anything available.

  12. Treating the Sky domestiques as if they are your run of the mill drones helping out the leader isn't quite accurate though, is it? Porte was a domestique last year and now is BMC's leader and set for a podium. Pouls, Landa and Thomas at a push could be a leader for a mid ranked team and Sky don't really care so much about the Giro or Vuelta and have a bigger and deeper squad.

  13. Cavendish will probably be a bit disappointed to miss out on the potential for another win on the Champs but with Sagan confirmed as the winner in the Green Jersey and Renshaw missing maybe it's for the best. If he can win gold in Rio I'm sure it'll be all.worth it as then he'd have the three jerseys and the medal he's missing from his collection.

  14. In Rugby League, Scotland are in one of the two 'super groups' for the World Cup 2017 (hosted by Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea) along with New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga.

  15. I see Cummings has been drafted in to the GB Olympic Squad to replace Kennaugh. Seems like they've got a bit lucky there after all the chat about him missing out after his breakaway stage win last week.

  16. I do. I believe most teams these days are mostly clean. Times aren't as crazy like they were in the Armstrong era and testing is so much better. The marginal gains philosophy is  ring copied by teams now and just like football, tennis, whatever the athletes are fitter, smarter and better looked after. I was pretty much done after Contador failed for Clenbutarol but I'm starting to believe again. Maybe that's naivete but I think there's just too much to lose now for most people  (especially Sky who would lose any good faith News Corp have gained after the phone hacking scandal) to risk it.

  17. Maybe I read different papers or websites from you but I can't ever remember Landa being mentioned asa possible doper, even when he was exceeding expectations in the Giro.

As for Dr Leinders, given he was found guilty of offenses at Rabobank and not Sky, that they came out after he was at Sky (as a freelancer, not on the staff) and that Brailsford has admitted it was a mistake at the time, I'm not sure how that's relevant to the 2016 Tour?

  18. Probably because Astana and a few others employ drug cheats and if anyone is even suspected of using drugs either now or in the past at Sky they get their contract terminated. Just look at Tiernan-Locke - possibly did something even before he joined Sky and gets drummed out. The risk to the rider is so great at Sky that you'd have to be a complete lunatic to even think about doping.
