  1. As a general tactic going into a relegation battle I dont have a massive issue with it. It's essentially the management team trying to figure out who the players trust and, more importantly, who they dont trust.

The timing of it, however, is just bizarre. Might have made more sense a month or so ago before the run-in.

Would guess (hope?) that neither Harkins nor Storey featured much on those lists. A man who can't run and a man who can only run. As far away from the starting XI as possible please.

  2. 5 signings down and, with the possible exception of Saunders, none of them would appear to be any better than what we already have. Given the guff thats currently at Firhill, thats quite impressive.

If this is the work complete for this window and Erskine does indeed go, this would have to be one of the most underwhelming, rage-inducing transfer windows I can remember.

Reeks of preparing for League 1.

Where would we be if we hadn't flucked having a supporter that won the Euromillions?

Not top concern right now, but there has been ZERO mention of the training ground (unless on Jagzone?) So my initial thoughts are is this money related because I thought we picked the spot etc etc but has work actually started?

I don't expect Caldwell to get sacked just now, I am hoping we stay in the division and McCall becomes available.

A mate of mine is currently doing a contamination assessment for the land we have earmarked for the training ground. He says the place is a heavily contaminated swamp land, so this may explain the delay.

Others far more in the know than me might have more info though.

  4. Think its fairly clear the competitive budget thing has turned out to be utter guff.

What are the chances we had a budget in place on the provision of a) Barton, Storey and Keown all leaving and b) getting a significant chunk of money for Liam Lindsay being sold by Barnsley?

Because at this stage to not be able to fill the bench means something, somewhere is severley fucked.

If there’s a minutes silence or applause then join in of course, but this relatively modern trend of football fans using a tragic event to give their own support a pat on the back is as creepy as it is nauseating.

Ok, let me rephrase. I think it would be good for our fans to pay tribute to a young man who lost his life and used to play for our opposition today on the minute of the number he used to wear for them. That is all.

Pretty sure this didn’t happen in Scotland but always makes me chuckle and I can’t remember who it was which doesn’t help!

A club’s new manager went to another match to watch their next opponent, and a young player on the other team caught his eye. He said to his assistant manager that he thought they should sign this player, not knowing the boy was actually out on loan from their club

That was Joe Kinnear as Newcastle manager "scouting" Shane Ferguson. Who was on loan at Birmingham (i think) from....Newcastle.

Not as good as thinking Yohan Cabaye's name was Yohan Kebab though.

Barnsley boss has moved to Leeds. Will he come back in the summer to raid Barnsley? Don't know the Yorkshire politics too well but I'm assuming they would have to pay over the odds if doing buisiness with each other. Hopefully he takes Lindsay and Liam gets a little more exposure.

Leeds are an absolute basket-case of a club and Liam should stay well, well away from them.

Think the issue with Sammon would be wages, his contract at Hearts is til 2019 and I don't think they'd be difficult to deal with but at 31 he's probably going to get offered less money as time goes on so it'll come down to what sort of severance deal he can get.

Also, as good as yesterday was, we're still in the playoff spot so planning for next year isn't the easiest.

One thing about Sammon that might sway him one way or another is that I'm pretty sure I seen him walking about town with his partner and a wee baby (happy to be proven wrong on that one). Might work well for us if he's looking for somewhere to settle for family reasons?

  9. Ffs Celtic vs Brechin first up?! Sureyl the BBC showing highlights of their own live game (Aberdeen vs St Mirren) - which was a cracking game - first up? Or show the first highland league team to get into the last 16 and the only real shock in the round? Or the Lanarkshire derby?

Talking about "a bigger mismatch you couldnt imagine" between the sides as well. Yes you could. Brechin are in the Championship ffs. There is 2 whole leagues full of teams where the gulf could be bigger on paper, not even including the highland/lowland teams they could have faced. Amateur pish just pandering to the ugly sisters as per usual.

  10. We have decent options in Lindsay, McKenna, Hendry, McCrorie, Cooper and Souttar.

The problem we have is that Strachan point blank refused to give a young centre back a chance. Time to give some (or all) of these guys a good 4 or 5 friendly matches and see what they are made of, regardless of how many games they've played at senior level.

We have Tierney, Robertson and Paterson as full backs for the foreseeable future. Get a decent young partnership up and running and we could have a settled back 4 for the next 3 or 4 campaigns.

Thistle just handed a penalty... Ando won the ball cleanly and clearly. Penalty given?!!!

BBC (i know) have it as a Shaughnessy foul on Nisbet. No?

Its literally the only thing they've said on the game apart from the goals. In an all premiership tie between 2 top 6 teams in the last 16 of a national cup competition...

Team lacks quality, needs investment, small club, budget doesn't allow for much, etc

Its nothing to do with that though is it?

Team lacks quality? - Cesnauskis is their captain ffs. Having not watched any of the games, I would doubt many, if any, would get a game for a team in the Scottish Premiership
Needs investment? - I don't know Trakai's finances but would hazard a guess that it is, at best, similar to St Johnstone's.
Small club? - UEFA rank St Johnstone 215th, Trakai 404th. St Johnstone are officially a bigger club/team.

We (Scottish clubs) need to stop making piss poor excuses like that. We continuously get outplayed technically and out-thought tactically because managers and players dont adapt to suit European football.

    Well, no.

I mean utter obscurity like (insert name of almost any Scottish footballer who has went to the English lower leagues in the last 15 years)

    Well, no.

You mean utter obscurity like Robert Snodgrass, Graham Dorrans, Ryan Fraser, Christophe Berra, Charlie Adam, David Marshall, etc.?

Stop getting yer knickers in a twist just cause Fraser Fyvie turned out to be shite.
