You've been watching too much Spanish football.
Im sorry but top-flight professional footballers in any country should be wanting to get on the ball and have the basic skill set to pass it. No?

Yesterday was the first game Ive made it to this season (normally work Saturdays) and I was shocked at how little responsibility our defenders took on the ball. Not once did someone offer a short option to Cerny at goal kicks, they all just ran up the park and turned their backs on it. Has this been happening all season?

The only positive thing about Scottish journos is that none of them are Garth Crooks. He is complete bellend

Thistle just handed a penalty... Ando won the ball cleanly and clearly. Penalty given?!!!
BBC (i know) have it as a Shaughnessy foul on Nisbet. No?
Its literally the only thing they've said on the game apart from the goals. In an all premiership tie between 2 top 6 teams in the last 16 of a national cup competition...

Sanmi Odelusi has just been released by Wigan. A 6ft striker/winger recently released by a decent English club with limited experience...has all the hallmarks of an Archie type signing.

Team lacks quality, needs investment, small club, budget doesn't allow for much, etcIts nothing to do with that though is it?
Team lacks quality? - Cesnauskis is their captain ffs. Having not watched any of the games, I would doubt many, if any, would get a game for a team in the Scottish Premiership
Needs investment? - I don't know Trakai's finances but would hazard a guess that it is, at best, similar to St Johnstone's.
Small club? - UEFA rank St Johnstone 215th, Trakai 404th. St Johnstone are officially a bigger club/team.
We (Scottish clubs) need to stop making piss poor excuses like that. We continuously get outplayed technically and out-thought tactically because managers and players dont adapt to suit European football.0 -

Well, no.
I mean utter obscurity like (insert name of almost any Scottish footballer who has went to the English lower leagues in the last 15 years)
Well, no.
You mean utter obscurity like Robert Snodgrass, Graham Dorrans, Ryan Fraser, Christophe Berra, Charlie Adam, David Marshall, etc.?
Stop getting yer knickers in a twist just cause Fraser Fyvie turned out to be shite.

Jason Cummings, a player woefully unproven in the Scottish Premiership, just went to the Championship down south for a report £1million. Even taking into account strikers tend to cost more than defenders, £250k-£350k for a player the same age, who has just been named in the league TOTY, is a farce.

What exactly does being a Celtic fan have to do with the story??
Because the Daily Record, Mirror, S*n, etc. are essentially click-bait journalism. Putting that he's a Celtic fan will be seen as a way to boost readership cause most of their readers will view it as "one of our own" or "one of them". Embarrassing all round.

Blair Spittal getting linked with us from the ET.
Would be a decent signing imo. Thought for a while we should be in the market for young Scottish players from smaller, lower league clubs.

Lindsay to The Tribute Act is surely a non-starter? He's a big Celtic fan and has already stated his desire to go down south. Would be gobsmacked if he went there.

Whats Archie's contract like? How much compo would we be entitled to? If we get a fair bit, and a decent value for Lindsay, I'd happily push the boat out for Jack Ross

What are the chances McCarthy will have a prominent role in the squad next season? I would have assumed that the plan would be to send him out on loan either to the Championship or top end League 1 but if he's seen as a squad player for next season, maybe Welsh has seen that and thought his game time will be limited with Banzo/Barton/Osman/Edwards/McCarthy/Fraser(maybe) and him all competing for 3 places?
Tbh if we want to be a consistent top 6 side like St J, we need upgrades on a few of our players across the squad. IMO Welsh sadly falls into that category. Decent player at this level, but no more than that and I'd be more than happy if his place in the squad gets taken up by someone like McCarthy.0 -
Don't know about anyone else, but seeing that list of potential replacements for Hartley made me realise even more how lucky we are to have Archie and Shaggy.
I'd consider us and Dundee to be fairly similar sized clubs (if anything, they would be a slightly bigger club with a much bigger budget), so those names would likely be the same names linked with us if Archie left. A horrendous list of the usual inept managers that.
Lets just hope Archie stays for the foreseeable future!0 -
Seem to remember him being very highly rated at Preston and a big fuss being made about which Ireland he chose.
Div Wilson finally getting the loan spell he badly needs?0 -

This was posted in the Partick v ICT thread but worth raising it here. Andy Walker gives his predictions for the first round of games and his key man for Partick v ICT was an interesting selection - he plumped for Stuart Bannigan. Who didn't play. Because he was injured.
He's only been out since April mind.....

This might just take the biscuit. Minute by minute analysis of Joey "the savior of Scottish football" Barton's debut. It's mind-boggling that the beeb can't find something better to write about and think anyone in their right minds would give a flying f*ck.0
