  1. He said in the summer he'd only sign to improve the squad, not just make up the numbers and we ended up only signing three permanent players in the summer with four loans. He's kept the same policy in this window and we've not brought in anyone, whilst also losing a key player. I'd stick my house on us signing a couple of people on loan before the end of the month. It's a hard one, he's happy with what he has, we're 5 clear at the top of the league, the players we have used thus far have achieved that. That being said, we've rode our luck in games, late winner against Edinburgh, late winner against Alloa of the top of my head. 2/4 strikers have been injured for large parts of the season, however we've been okay with injuries and suspensions but I'm sure that won't last.
  2. 100% - how can we genuinely be looking at PCA's if we don't know what division we'll be in for sure, unless it's guys happy enough to play either Champ or L1.
  3. Well we know how much Meggle wanted PG following our 1-4 thumping of them. I’d be shocked if other board members had the same opinion, never mind a majority. Listen, I’m just venting, fed up with how the window has gone, I know there’s hard work going in everywhere behind the scenes. Lose a key player, don’t replace him (yes I’m sure we tried), dropping more silly points. We can’t really afford to wait until the end of February to recruit, four games minimum but potentially five if the crunch game with Falkirk gets announced.
  4. Maybe not overly attractive but also not the most unattractive. I’d say players wouldn’t hate the idea of joining Dunfermline or Falkirk with a a realistic chance of a league winners medal or promotion then a crack at the Championship. Well obviously they’ve helped pay for more things than paying off two failed managers, but let’s face it, the Rosyth facility doesn’t look any different to what it was, windows all boarded up. I know there was issues with planning etc but there was no clarity in the recent meeting, just a quick move on from the chairman. Yes, there’s more people on the board than the Germans but it seems to me like they had the say with the chairman. What’s the point in me going off at McCarthur, he’s gone. I actually do think the Germans with Cook have a bigger say about what goes on. Meggle is supposed to be the sporting director, where’s the European players we were supposed to be looking at in previous windows. None of them are getting off without blame, manager, chairman, board, investors are all at fault. It’s a disappointing window for a number of reasons, some out with our control ie Nisbet, however our closest rival in the league has hit some good form, binned duds and strengthened and we’re pissing about hoping that some sort of superstar is going to fall into our lap. Needs to be better than what we have, let me tell you, what we have isn’t that great, we’ve rode our luck a number of times this season and that won’t last.
  5. Surely if he has say five targets they’re not all rejecting deals to come here? Or to twist it, has he not got a plan B if only focussing on one target? You’re right about the investors not just spending on the first team, but they’ve spent little money on anything else, oh apart from the pay off for the massive disaster that was Peter Grant and possibly Yogi both of which were entirely their fault.
  6. Because, it’s been the same crap all through the summer window and now all through the winter window. Trying to get players in, has to be right etc. Will 100% cost us. Yes and no. Plenty games to play between now and the end of February, potentially even the rescheduled Falkirk game. Waiting until near the end of the loan window closes could cost us dearly. Everyone else manages to make signings and improve their squads, we’ve lost one and not replaced, a failure of a window. My thoughts exactly. Went along to the PSC meeting hoping to hear an update about the training ground and Dave Cook said straight away that there was work being done but little updates to share. Meggle was actually there sitting in the crowd along with other board members, didn’t say a word. Be nice to hear a bit more from these guys. I know Dave Cook plans on doing an interview this week that will be posted so he might have more to share.
  7. Just read that, pathetic. Sick of hearing how hard they’re working behind the scenes. Be class when players arrive at the end of February when we’ve inevitably dropped more points.
  8. That better be his poker face. Very irritating him talking about the summer, won’t matter worth a f**k if we’re still playing league 1 football.
  9. I’d be shocked if we were even in the same sentence as Lafferty tbh. He wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I’d absolutely take him if it was possible, again I think that’s not the case. Wonder could he end up at Queens Park? Simon Murray has just moved to Ross County, they’d be able to throw plenty cash I’m sure.
  10. If it’s his choice I think he’ll end up with us, he didn’t leave on terrible terms, Killie came in for him, offered more coin and a sensible move where he did go on to win the Championship. He also understands the Dunfermline/Falkirk rivalry, captained us to the win between the two in the league cup during covid times and scored if I’m not mistaken. Still he could just fancy something new and end up at TFS. If it comes down to Hartlepool they might have a preference, it may depend how offers more cash.
  11. Be a welcome addition. My thoughts, he would have played in a back two with Bene at Raith before he came to us, however probably managed by McGlynn too, not that these things matter.
  12. Craig Cairns reporting we're hopeful of two coming in today.
  13. Some deadline day developments. Craig Cairns of the Courier has responded to a fan, said we're working on one but like with a few others it relies on business being done elsewhere. If it doesn't happen today, then we're going to make it a loan for now. Also, he's just posted a new article that says Wigan likely to make a new offer for Nisbet which could bag us £££.
  14. Poor result for us at the weekend past, hoping the team can get back to winning ways, however it'll be no easy feat given that the team we're playing are the only team to defeat us in the league this season. Reckon it'll be as tight as it was at East End in August where the Pars ran out 1-0 winners after a late Nikolay Todorov goal. Not sure if we'll have any new faces in, would love to but would say it's unlikely, purely because McPake will only add if they can improve the first 11, whereas we 100% need some freshening up.
  15. I'm shocked to see that the latter has featured a bit with Killie in the Prem this season
  16. Maybe we don't want any new signings actually, put me right off my appetite!
  17. Ooh that could be a go-er, especially since Shaun Maloney just took over and would have worked with Nizzy.
  18. Well folks, do we anticipate another tumbleweed day or do we think there may well be some movement?
  19. Not entirely true. We created enough chances yesterday to win our next five games, we just couldn’t finish them, so I’d argue the strikers we have are the issue, they all seem to have the same mentality where they go missing for spells, unfortunately for us all seem to do it in the same game. After Clyde scored yesterday we took centre and should have scored straight away, then could have had another four in the 15 minutes that followed. If there was any word I’d use to describe our four strikers it would be wasteful.
  20. His finish home to Peterhead the other week but excellent, great ball in, just opened up his foot and placed it into the corner, not an easy finish but he made it look easy. He seems to do the hard stuff really well.
  21. Just took a trip down memory lane, after watching the highlights I came across “Going Up” from the 1999/2000 promotion season. It was the first year I had a full season ticket IIRC, think I might have got a half season ticket the year we went down. Couldn’t help but admire the squad of players we had, especially attacking. Andy Smith, Petrie, Crawford, Coyle, Bullen, Moss, Hampshire. A lot of big characters in that squad that were well known in Scottish football, then the season after we’d began our European signing spree with Jimmy C bringing in a lot of Dutch guys, plus Skerla etc. good times. Great seeing some of the old stadiums packed out with big travelling supports (and home). I was never at Brockville but from the clips online it looked like the perfect setting for a derby game. The old away end at Love Street also brilliant, I was there for the Sombreros and Beachballs win, maybe one other time too. Then it goes to Ayr & Morton, exactly the same as they are now . Seemed like we just made signings whenever then, was there no transfer window? Or is it just the way the video has been edited? Blethering on a bit but how bloody good was Stevie Crawford?
  22. They didn’t even show half of them on the highlights. Mochrie’s chance right after they scored and Wighton’s header just after that, should have been goals. Totally right, all four of them are so wasteful/bit panicky.
