  1. Gullan is a decent signing but won’t bring us the goals we need

That’s untrue. His goal record for us isn’t far off a goal every other game, most strikers would be more than happy with that. I’m struggling to understand the overwhelming lack of excitement of his signing. I don’t care if he’s a number 9, as long as he gets us goals which his record proves he does. Not only that, we’ve got the likes of him, Ross, Stanton, Vaughan tied down on good term deals.
  2. This is fundamentally untrue.

At centre back, Musonda is another league. At RB however, is a different story. Falkirk away is a prime example that he’s totally uncomfortable there. The barely found his own man from when he came in, pointlessly lumping it up the line hoping someone would be there. People seem to have short memories and are doing a dis-service to MacKay.
  3. I don’t get the campaign to keep Frankie, especially if he’s keen to go.
As I mentioned, I imagine he’ll be one of the higher earners that is currently warming the bench most weeks and 4th choice for his natural position. That money could be better used to strengthen where we need it most which is currently a CM and a goal scorer.
There us no point keeping someone if money can be better spent.
For those who argue he can cover at full back, I’d like to remind you that we have Young and MacKay (come Jan) that can cover either side. MacKay is no worse at RB than Musonda.
We’re not blessed with a large budget so i’d like to see that money being used to fund someone like Gullan on loan.

  4. Absolutely. He's had to fit in at different parts of the pitch and in different roles and never been anything less than a 7/10. And last season he showed just how good he is at centre half when he gets a run of games. Even Bene can't get into that position at the moment, so it's no reflection on Frankie Musonda.
Unless he's desperate to get back down south, it's a no-brainer to get him signed on again. I'd go further than just the end of the season, I'd give him another 18 months. He's only 24 (today - happy birthday Frankie!) and he's a class act. He'll only get better with experience.

Is it a no-brainer though? And I question that for both parties. He’s fourth choice in his preferred position. He’d of been off if it wasn’t for his injury. Quality or not, i’d rather our wage budget was better spent getting quality in another positions. We also have MacKay back in Jan who can also play RB.
  5. No one will offer a fee for a player who's out of contract next month.
Really hope we can keep Musonda till the end of the season. I understand his frustration, but it's wishful thinking to suggest our defenders won't incur injuries or suspensions and Musonda has great versatility.

I get he was great last season but he can’t get in our first XI. Whilst he can cover at LB and RB, he’s not looked comfortable (see Falkirk where he could barely find his own player with a pass). I think the money could be used to get a more natural cover for the fullback positions. The market is often hard to find free agents but I wonder if we could find players with clauses who can leave for a full time team.
  6. How do you know moving to the outskirts of kirkcaldy would do nothing for the club?Thats  guess work
Kirkcaldy aint big and from say Starks Park to the outskirts its probable a mile and a half, two miles, hardly an inconvience and quite possibly more convienent for others
Followed the Rovers since the 60,s and yes see Starks Park as home but thats sentimental tosh.Sadly Starks has seen its days
Nothing can be done with the Main Stand and enclosure,,behind the dug and Railway Stand are virtually derelict

Pre-match drinks at the top of the town doesn’t seem appealing and that alone is enough for me.
  7. I really like Dylan Tait. Even when it's not working for him, he never hides and never stops trying. It's a trait that'll stand him in good stead going forward.
That said, I'd still be happier with Matthews alongside Spencer. Morton look fairly dangerous breaking through our middle.

Couldn’t disagree more. I used to be one of his biggest fans but I think he’s been really poor this season. He struggles to more than the very basic.
  8. Don’t think we should be too despondent. We are still picking up points even when we put in a sub-par performance. As Calderon said, in previous years we’d have lost that game yesterday. To be sitting one win off top spot after 13 games is tremendous. We’ve only lost three competitive fixtures all season and one of those was to Celtic. That’s a great record.
The Championship is looking ridiculously tight this year and while we not have the depth of squad to outlast someone like Kilmarnock (who I suspect will spend big in January) over 36 games, we do have a hugely talented team with a great manager, so who knows what we can achieve. As Marvin Andrew’s used to say…Believe.

Agreed we shouldn’t get too down about picking up points when we’re performing poor but it is getting a bit of a concern how poor we’ve been receiving. When was the last time we dominated both half’s? For the last 4 games we’ve been average at best and without a clean sheet in 12. For as much as I like Varian and Poplatnik, I hope we go out and get a striker who’s going to get into double figures. We also need to stop conceding goals. No criticism against the CB’s or MacDonald but the wing backs and midfield need to do much better. Whether performances have dropped due to a lack of competition on the side lines, we’ll never know.
  9. With all due respect to Blaise Riley-Snow, I'd rather go out to left back myself. His skillset (both good and bad) seems uniquely unsuited to playing professional football.

Fixed for you. Its almost laughable about some people suggesting he shouldn’t be used as a sub. The focus should be that he isn’t anywhere near our team. This has got to be one of McGlynns worst signings (and there hasn’t been many, thankfully).
  10. Lang has looked very assured in these last two games. I’d like to see us stick with him, even if Bene is fit again.
I like Bene, he’s been a good servant to the club and has played well this season. He was still part of the calamitous partnership with Davo though, for which he wasn’t entirely blameless.
Seeing Berra with the armband on just seems right too. The guy is a model pro and has been a colossus so far. Certainly much better than Davidson, and I was a Davo fan!

McGlynn mentioned at the start of the season that he had several plans. I suspect and hope one of those would be a back 3. With Musonda near fit again, we’d have cover there if not used it the DM role. This would allow Tumilty and Dick even more freedom to get forward. How the front line would line up would cause some debating but i’d be keen to see us giving it a go.
  11. Probably an unpopular opinion but I’ll be glad once Tait is gone come January. I was a huge fan of his from the start but IMO my has been poor all season. Despite the uproar, I thought the hibs deal was good for a player who had started to go stale. Whilst he’s still young and has time on his side, his general play has been so poor and Spencer and Matthews have been papering over the cracks in the midfield. He has little to no defensive capabilities, he’s been struggling to make the most simple of passes and generally doesn’t look bothered on the pitch. His odd impressive pass has probably allowed him to get away with it. That, and the fact BRS makes him look like Iniesta. I trust McGlynn to have replacement for both Tait and BRS as well as potential Varian who has impressed me but isn’t getting us the goal return we need for someone leading the line.

  12. Was a bit surprised to see someone slate Tait earlier as he got pass marks in my books along with McDonald, Berra, Spencer and Tumilty. Blaise and Mitchell did well when they came on. Lang was stand out for me tonight. The boy was rolls royce, so calm and composed under pressure and can only recall only one mistake. Disappointed with their goal, not the defending as such but the failure to take the runner out. Someone should have taken one for the team.

We were far from our best tonight and weren’t really threatened bar Thomas’ wonder strike.

Atmosphere was great and much preferred being in the North stand. As for the fans, both were over the top with their celebrations but given we missed so much, I think we’re entitled to do so. As for the chants, I cant say I picked up anything offensive from either side but absolutely intolerable from both sides if true.

Lastly, there’s nothing you can do about the conditions but the state of that pitch was terrible. Disappointing not to see huge divots fixed during the break. I’ll take a plastic pitch over that every day of the week.

  13. Fecking hell. An entire section in which Lee Connelly is at least 4 or 5 times referred to as being on loan from Sunderland and what it would cost to get him permanently.
If only they'd done half a second's research the entire feature wouldnt have been so completely and utterly wrong!
    Poor.

Calm yourself. If you’re getting that up tight about something as little as that, then I feel for you. If it makes you feel better, you can value him at £160M all you like.
  14. Got to beat Inverness at some point, might as well be Saturday.
Spencer has been excellent recently, Dario was anonymous for large parts on Saturday, perhaps Super might think about starting Ross who looked lively. Good to have genuine options in the wide areas.
Duku to need treatment while warming up 10/1.

I was quite surprised to see Ross find himself in the no.10 position on Saturday. Might be worth resting Tait. However I’m sure as always McGlynn will go with the tried and tested approach and keep the same starting 11.

One thing I noticed from his interview with RaithTV is how happy to seemed to be back with us. Having read this article, I admire the guy. He clearly believes in himself to aim big and his self-awareness that he can do more to improve himself on and off the pitch. I think it may take him a couple of games to get up to speed but I was much more impressed with him than Kennedy (who only really impressed in his first 3 or 4 games with us).
The deal with Aberdeen has us pay a smaller compensation fee on the basis the get a reasonable sell-on should we sell him. I think its fair to assume that he’s been given assurances that we won’t stand in his way if/when teams come calling for the right money. When you get a coup like this then you have to understand that we might not be able to match his level of ambition but if we can benefit from promotion and or a large fee down the line then enjoy the time we have him in our side. Aberdeen fans genuinely seemed gutted to see him go which says alot given the limited opportunity he was given there.
