  1. Even this early in the season it's a six pointer. As poor as big Russell is apparently playing he would still be better than anything we currently have up front.
If Montrose can score just once we're in trouble.
Wouldn't worry about seeing big Russell. He has been dropped from the match day squad the last two weekends. He needs to go out on loan and get some confidence. He has been guff for us.

  2. Agreed. 2 poor teams with us being absolutely woeful yet again. We’re paying the price for retaining too many of last seasons squad .. I think most Mo supporters will know the ones. Difficult to see where a goal is going to come from and our inability to defend cross balls continues to cost us dearly. Long hard season ahead for us I’m afraid.
Couldn't agree more. SP was far too loyal. Yano, Callaghan, Rennie, Ross Campbell, arguably CJ shouldn't never have been given a contract. Cregg going was a big loss but I cant understand why SP didn't get a couple of really good midfielders. Callaghan wouldn't get a game for a league 2 team. Watson is getting slower by each game and he never replaced Redman. On paper we could have a fantastic defence and but we dont have a good enough midfield to provide service to the strikers.
  3. When best to get our first win of the season than against our local neighbors. I really think we can go to Forfar and win! They have not had a great start to the season either and their fans are starting to question some of their summer recruits.

It was clear that Steeves and Watson were not quite fit on sat however with two more training sessions this week i think they will be raring to go. I would start with Rennie and Lyons again. I thought they both played quite well and Rennie was unfortunate to come off. New Cammy was tidy enough for his first game, i can see him being a good player for us.

I really want SP to play the 5 at the back formation that worked so well for us a couple of years  ago and i would imagine all Mo fans would want the same. Ballantyne, Waddel, Dillon, Allan and Steeves. Yano for me should not be a starter and Allan is not comfortable in midfield.

  4. Tough one to take on sat. There was nothing in the game at half time. Awful defending for EF's first goal, Yano was so exposed and looked slower than a snail. Great to see Lyons get another goal (he had a great game). I went mad when Masson was sent off but after watching the highlights i have no idea what he was doing. Definite sending off, two footed challenges are gone from the game, all players must now know that.

EF deserved the win and i think they will do very well this season.  Keeping the majority of their squad along with signing some very good players was very good business. I would love to have Dowds leading the line for the Mo!

  5. Have to say I am impressed with the respect shown in some of the comments above from East Fife fans. Top of the league and you all seem very grounded. Fair play.
You boys will be full of confidence I'm sure and I have to admit I think you had probably the best transfer windows out of all the PT teams in the league so this will be a very difficult game for the Mo. However, I have a good feeling about this one. Our first win has to come at some point, we have key players to return from injury and with two young prospects joining the squad this week I think we have all taken a lift. I predict a tight game, Mo to edge it 2-1.

Tall lad - bit of a beanpole still - who does score plenty for the u20s.  Tidy with the ball at his feet, he floats between centre-backs well and he has good technique.  It's a big leap to League 1 though where he won't be preying on naive defenders. If he can cope with it physically I think he'll do well.

Cheers pal. Owell, we shall see.

  7. Gutted about the result on sat, really thought that was going to be our first win.

Fair play to Dumbarton. I thought big Layne bullied our back line and you can tell he is playing with confidence.

We were extremely poor in the first half and it was probably the worst we have played in a couple of years.  Thankfully SP made a couple of changes and we were much better in the second half.  We did well to get the first goal and on another day we would have come back for a draw.

Did not understand SP's selection, Skelly has arguably been our best player in the last few games but he gets dropped, Webby was brilliant against Raith and he gets dropped, Matty Allan has been fantastic since he has come back from his injury but he cannot even get a sub appearance. The most mind-boggling decision is that McLean is still getting a game. It's a shame because he is a young guy but he has been with us since Jan and has shown absolutely nothing, he desperately needs to go out on loan somewhere.

  8. A very difficult start yes but when the fixtures came out i fully expected to be near the bottom of the league. You are right though if we don't start picking up points we will risk being left behind. Dumbarton have had a good start and will feel as if they can come and win however i fully expect this game to be our first win. SP will get the team pumped up and even though we havent taken points from the last three games we should have taken confidence in the way we have played. Overall we have been solid at the back and played some decent stuff going forward.

My preferred team for this game would be:

                                Lennox

    Webby  Matty  Kerr  Dillo  Cammy

                    Padge        Masson (if fit)

                                Milne

                      Skelly       Lyons

When he first joined us he was terrible. Couldn't head a ball despite his obvious height advantage, couldn't control a ball and generally looked a poor signing.

Then he seemed to come good and started scoring a few so maybe it is a confidence thing.

Always been a bit marmite with the supporters but I think most were happy to see him sign again for last season. Wasn't quite so good again and threw a strop when we signed Sutherland and demanded a transfer which ultimately cost him a league winners medal.

Montrose offered him a deal at the start of last season probably based on the season before and were happy to take him in January. Always thought he could fit into the Templeman type role at Montrose but would definitely need to work a lot harder to be anything like Templeman.

Interesting reading. He has been extremely disappointing for us but the biggest issue i have with him is he doesn't look like he cares. You would have thought it would have the opposite in that he would be busting a gut to show the fans that he cares and that he wants to turn it around but it's not been the case.

  10. Hi folks, interested to hear what the general feeling was towards Russel McLean?

He has had a difficult start to his team with the Mo. Seems to be very much a confidence player and it seems this is very low at the moment. Based on what i have seen so far i can't see him coming good at all.

He scored a lot of goals for you lot which at the moment is hard to imagine.

You were definitely the best organised team we have played and when in possession passed the ball well. The pass for your goal was beautiful don't know why our commentators were trying to say it was a miss hit shot, thought on the day it was a pass and highlights show this.
Best of luck for the season ahead

There is an honest, unbiased and fair fan among you, wow!

    Thanks mate!
