Is Moore not a left midfielder ?

He can operate anywhere on the left side, and whilst he is predominantly an attacking player, he can also play left back which is very important as we are a little short of options in that area.”

Thats from the website. Just a side-note: I really like how the player announcement looks on the "new" website, haven't been on in ages. Not so much the text but the pictures are formatted really well, looks professional.

Agree.  It raises questions about his integrity and credibility for me that he gave that answer.  I'd be quite comfortable if he said he wanted to keep a rent going (like sandy Alexander on the ss), or  keep all/most of the profits from the side developments. To suggest he's here out the goodness of his heart is fanciful and simply not true.

That said, while I still have concerns, I hope some of these details will be clarified further over the coming weeks and we can move forward as a change is desperately needed at the top.

I feel that we underrate the non-tangible/non-financial aspects of owning a football team, but does he seem like a guy that can afford to do it for the prestige or for a laugh?

  3. I have to say I'm a bit gutted about today, not because it's the league cup, who cares, but because I think it would have given the club a big boost. The atmosphere is a wee bit toxic towards the board at the moment and yet the folk at the game were loud and really pushed the team on at the end. Given that crowd a draw or god forbid a win would have been incredible for the morale of the supporters and team. And in the end it was just me sitting in front of a screen abroad fuming about a ref and rambling on a football forum.

Hope to f**k the team keep trying like they did today, what a breath of fresh air.

PS: And trying to assemble a fucking picture of an old stereo to prove I'm not a robot. Haven't managed to dae it for long enough to add this bit to my comment.

PS2: Had to click submit reply again. Here I was waiting for it to auto-post once I got the picture right. What a day.

    PS3: I hadn't logged in. What clown.

  4. Recency biased as f**k, but this is the best midfield performance in about two years. Can’t remember the last time we were capable of keeping pressure on a team and passing the ball around their box. Not because we were too poor technically, we never had more than 2-3 players that far up.

    Aaaaaand 1-0 Ayr haha

They are somewhat bizarrely behind the paywall on our official site, considering it was a closed door game which wasn't mentioned at all by us I find it odd that they're on there at all and that they're only available to subscribers.

Also, the highlights feature both Caldwell and one of your coaching staff blocking out the action at either end.

Both our goals came from us dispossessing your players (first one the #5 , second one Gomis) about 25 yards from your goal, both your goals came from crosses, the first one headed in by Connolly who outjumped McGinty who's about a foot taller than him, second one looked as if two of our defenders got in each other's way and the #9 had all day to take a touch and finish.

Haha this is phenomenal, thanks for the breakdown

Cannot be fucked watching 4 centrehalfs across the defence next season.

I dont hate the idea of Dixon and McGhee for example, IF we had genuine wingers in front of them meaning they need only to back them up with the occasional overlap, rather than needing to provide the width as they were in the last few weeks and pretty much failing at it.

We need to put ourselves in a position where we have at least 5, ideally 6 players attacking any given time. So that is a striker, two wingers, one of the full backs and two midfielders that look to attack when we're in possession. Don't know if those two could do the job if they alternate.

  7. If a manager can't turn Tommy Robson into a good enough left back for the Scottish Championship there is something wrong with the coaching. He's reasonably quick, decent at crossing and has average strength plus good technique for the level. If that is your baseline a competent coach should be able to add the rest.

People need to stop this. O'Hara was rotten for stenhousemuir in League 1. He isn't good enough.

Was unclear there, I don't want him in the team it just shows to me how far we've dropped. Instead of him getting to our level, we're getting near his.

  9. The only way to turn next year into a positive is by getting promoted with a team that ends up having the quality for top 4 championship football. Risky but I believe you can only achieve that if you get an experienced spine and fill up the rest with youngsters that can grow in league 1 to become the required standard. Two established CBs, a holding mid and an attacking mid with preferably pacey youngsters around them. Can't believe I'm saying this but we're reaching a level where O'Hara could become relevant again.

Paul Dixon in the Herald today saying he wants to come back, then says the club is really well run and the protests were unfair on Saturday.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I think that is harsh to be honest. If McKinnon is the reason he is enjoying his football and all the people above helped facilitate that, there is no reason for him to be negative towards the board.

The main criticism towards the board is closing the academy (pretty much unforgivable at this point in its own right) and allowing Hartley too much freedom. Clubs that go the other route are often criticised for not putting "football people" in the relevant positions. Feel like thats a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation and the feedback solely depends on the results you get, which in terms of the day-to-day football activities are outwith the boards control. Ultimately the responibility lies with them, I get that, but I don't think you can blame Dixon for not shoving the blame onto them.

  11. As stupid as this may sound, a relegation battle can give you the same excitement, nerves and enjoyment that a promotion push can. All you need is effort and for fans and players to push together, instead we’ve been served up one powderpuff performance after another. It would be so easy for someone to stick out in this side and yet there’s only two/three guys that have done so. I just can’t get that into my head, probably the most disappointing thing about all of this for me..
