  1. A 'tough' Clyde side is a kind way of putting it - some of their players wouldn't have been out of place at Murrayfield today! Clyde try to out muscle their opposition. Glad that we got a draw from a bruising match. Stobie made a couple of superb saves. Allan show promise. Fast, strong and has a decent touch.
  2. From City on Twitter: "City have signed Hibernian striker Lewis Allan on loan until the end of the season."
  3. Looking for some info, please, if you can. My son and I are trying to work our way around the 42 SPFL grounds (https://visitthe42.wordpress.com). As part of this 'journey' we are planning on coming through to the Raith game v Morton on the 7th Feb. Where's a good place to park? Where's the best section in the stadium to watch the game (taking the fact I'll have an 8 year old with me)? Any thoughts?
  4. Looks like Guthrie was played as a striker today. Beattie and See on the bench.
  5. With Allum gone that leaves only See and Beattie as recognised strikers, right? Surely there must be something in the pipeline for bringing someone else in?! Beattie can't last a full 90 minutes and See is having a decent season but surely we can't expect him to score enough to keep City in the League? Not that Allum was firing them in either. Any rumours of new additions to the squad?
  6. Any indication when the rescheduled game with Cowdenbeath will take place?
  7. Anyone any idea why the game v East Fife is on Monday, two days after City have played Arbroath away? And with East Fife having had the weekend with no match.
  8. Delighted with the first point of the season. Just happens to be the first league game (home or away) I've missed this season. Maybe I should stop going to games from now on!
  9. With Beattie in the team against Forfar and Elgin the ball was just pumped up the park in a 'hit and hope' style. Not good to watch and not effective. Better movement and approach against Cowdenbeath without Beattie. We could well have scored a couple in the first half and another in the second. Not sure why Beattie wasn't in the squad, maybe due to injury? Although he brings experience and strength up front, his lack of pace and stamina are a serious weakness.
  10. Despite the result it was a much better performance yesterday. Let's hope that's the end of the 'Beattie Experiment' where City were pumping the ball forward in the first two games. My first visit to Central Park. I don't think the dark skies and rain helped but, boy, that's one grim ground to watch football in. Bordering on depressing. A lot of fans give City grief for playing at Meadowbank but Cowdenbeath fans have no room for comment.
  11. Elgin were pretty impressive in the first half. Strong, fast and powerful up front. Striker called Gunn caused a whole lot of problems. I'm hopeful for the rest of the season. City have players who are not out of place for League 2. I just wonder if having Beattie who lacks movement up front (that's putting it nicely) is pushing City into a style of play which doesn't suit the rest of the team and is much easier to defend against. Anyway... Looking forward to the trip to Cowdenbeath on Saturday. How many games is Mbu suspended for?
  12. As a new fan of Edinburgh City I have some questions to those of you who been with them from many years. Has the arrival of Beattie made a big change to the way City play? The games I watched City play towards the end of last season and this season's League Cup games (all pre arrival of Beattie and against higher league teams) City were a team who at least tried to play a passing game 'on the deck' as it were. However with the arrival of Beattie, the preferred option appears now to be punt the ball up the park to him with the hope that something will come of it. It was that way against Forfar and also yesterday against Elgin. It was noticeable the difference against Forfar when he was subbed off. City began playing better with more movement up front and keeping the ball on the ground (second goal an example of that). I appreciate that League 2 is different from what City have faced before and maybe new tactics are needed but I'm still to be convinced of the 'punt and rush' style that has been employed in the first two games this season. Although I admit, as a new fan, that I could well be talking nonsense!
  13. Will do. I'm sure I saw you at the end of the Livi game. Not every day you see Mr Blobby in an Edinburgh City shirt (cue comments about some overweight City player...)
  14. I've not long returned to Scotland after living abroad and got hooked on the story behind Edinburgh City and their successful campaign for promotion to the SPFL, so much so that I'm now a signed up season ticket holder. Very much looking forward to the game v Forfar on Saturday!
