Christ, this thread is dull. Any danger of talking about the football match tomorrow rather than the shite that seems to be getting posted?

being announced as a 6 figure fee
Those with a knowledge of a Peep Show will recall Superhans' offer to Jez of a 5 figure sum for assisting in a bank robbery..."well, there's a decimal place after the first 3 figures". This sounds like one of those instances where it's 6 figures total, 4 figures actual.

I always thought that the one thing that this thread lacked was a debate about parking.

Any idea whether Los Mexicanos will be playing this evening? Going to be quite a reality check for them going from 39 degrees on the Gulf of Mexico to 15 degrees and rain in Bonnyrigg but the pleasure of pulling on the pulling on the camisa azul oscuro will more than compensate.

Sweeney's debut, interestingly (or perhaps not), was in the same game that Joe Shaughnessy scored for us!

Maybe they haven't been able to get all these new signings on the phone yet...
Just wait for some seething Jambo to bring up our inability to send emails as well.

What an incredibly underwhelming day it has been so far. Must be waiting for a beer o'clock Messi announcement to kick start the weekend.

They just don't make them like Gowser anymore. A legend at the club that demanded standards and was there with us through thick and thin. We were there for him too, mind you.
He was there for us...apart from the evening matches when he was tagged. Not sure we'll ever have someone missing from the squad for the same reason again. Impossible not to love the mad b*****d.

Hands up if you're looking forward to signing again...

This smells to me like a Nelms/Strachan decision rather than TD who has only been in the door 24 hours. How could he have come to a conclusion on who to re-sign that quickly, especially on a 2 year deal?!

Looking forward to the derbies next season.
Don't say things like that - you'll only encourage the Tractor Humpers to consider the games between us as a derby.
I am actually a little sad that there won't be any actual derbies next year because they're generally good fun and a solid money spinner but United being relegated is incredibly amusing.

McCall and Neilson as co-managers with Coyle as assistant and Nelms on transfers would be the ultimate nightmare scenario. I still wouldn't put it past Jonny Boy Nelms to come out with some mental set up and consign us to relegation before this Premier League season has even finished.

I'm a bit surprised that Covid is still being used in this way. I know it's sport and any respiratory issues will be curtains for their bid but in any other walk of life the guidance seems to be that even if you test positive you go about your business unless you feel ill and can't work.
Exactly this - really don't understand the double-standards unless there are rules specific to Italy. I've got a colleague off work at the moment with COVID but there's not a chance that I'd voluntarily stick that brush up my nose again unless I absolutely had to!

McDaid away to Falkirk on loan it would seem. I quite liked him as a player but perhaps the Premiership is a step above where he is at the moment. Regardless, no bad words to say about him from me.

Wouldn't it be marvellous if we could get a massive screen in front of the Derry and charged something like £10 to watch it?

To give it a positive slant, with Charlie going off with a twinge on Saturday maybe it's not the worst timing.
Also a good opportunity for Gowser to reacquaint LG29 with the best nightlife that Dundee has to offer. Imagine the scenes when Jocky lays his eyes on him as he saunters back through the door at the Fairmuir...

I look forward to the return of the Real Leigh Griffiths blog.
I've just reopened it and had forgotten how teckle it actually was. Work for the day has most definitely ended now.

I'm just curious why you think football clubs are a special case and different to other employers. If the lad was a brickie he wouldn't be prevented from bricklaying even if there were females employed by the same company. Any measures taken are only going to effect the employee in question, it's not like anyone else at the club is having their routine upset or being prohibited from certain areas just because there's an employee with a criminal history.
All employers have the option 'not to sign sex offenders', it doesn't necessarily mean it's the correct thing to do, or what's best for society as a whole.
No one pays (at least not that I'm aware of) or idolises bricklayers. Neither do they buy the shirts of the company that employs the bricklayer. Basically and in the nicest possible sense sense, no one really notices bricklayers and what they get up to in their private or working lives (other than the regular appearance of bricks being stuck together).

This crowd-shagging chat is gunge. Neither we not the Tractoroos have got anything to gloat about but at least we have the excuse of playing in the Seaside League on and off for the past few years to explain our numbers while the bumpkins are just chronically pish.
