The piece on Phil O'Donnell was as poignant as it was brilliant as it was touching, a wonderful bit of film beautifully and respectfully done -

Gary Gillespie challenging during Scotland's 2-1 win in Norway, the opening match of our successful (just) qualification campaign for Italia 90 in September of 1988, I say 'just' because we almost made a complete arse of it taking one point from the last six available in the two points for a win era after getting off to a flyer in the first few games. We scraped over the line with a draw against Norway at Hampden on the final game despite a then customary howler from Jim Leighton, letting a last minute 40 yarder from Erland Johnson slip through his hands when we were 1-0 ahead, edging out France of all teams for second spot in the group and a place in the finals where Costa Rica awaited -

Same as most people who get into football, family and friends nearly all Celtic fans, hope that's okay with you.

I know mate, the mess of the place by council tearing it up for box ticking cycle lanes that barely get used is a fucking joke.

If Celtic manage a comfortable win like the 7-1 tanking we gave them at Celtic Park in February it would provoke severe meltdowns from the **** given the recent pitch fiasco and the email spam folder incident from the pandemic. That will go down as a rare blot on an otherwise fantastic first season back in the top flight for Dundee and a first season as a manager for Tony Docherty. Useless bit or irrelevant trivia, I remember him as a teenager for Stirling Albion in the early 1990s when he was nicknamed Tony the tiger by the Albion fans and he had a shocking wavy perm hairstyle. Second piece of irrelevant trivia, his brother Vinnie was my maths teacher at St Modans High in Stirling around then. Business end of the season and squeaky bum time, performances, individually and collectively matter not a jot, especially with our difficulty in seeing games out from narrow winning positions is a concern so it would be nice to record a comfortable, nerve free win here but any sort of victory will suffice given the importance of the three points.

Ally McCoist in a cracking Scotland away strip in Belgium in 1987 on a night we were skelped 4-1 against a Belgian side inspired by Nico Claesen who scored a hat trick. Paul McStay scored a belter on an otherwise night to forget from a Scottish perspective, neither side made it to the European Championships in West Germany the following year, we actually finished above Belgium, coming third in the group, this was the campaign a late Gary Mackay winning goal in Bulgaria prevented them from qualifying and allowing Ireland to make it to their first major tournament. -

England were deliberately placed on the island of Sardinia during Italia 90 as the authorities didn't want them and the challenges of policing their fans on the Italian mainland and potential clashes, here they are with a friendly looking police presence prior to kick off against The Netherlands. I've always felt the trouble that tends to follow the English national team's physce comes from the arrogance and rhetoric espoused by historians, politicians and even journalists that Britain, or more specifically England is the subliminal master race, the British empire, the Commonwealth, we civilised many countries and races and gave them our language and all that fucking bullshit, thick dull brain racists buy into all that shite and you get scores of meat heads following the national team who feel it is their duty to stand, bare chested in town squares drinking pints, singing Rule Brittania and shouting abuse and throwing the odd punch or plastic chair at anyone who looks at them the wrong way. -
Semi Final: Aberdeen vs Celtic
Flybhoy replied to Melanius Mullarkey's topic in Domestic Cup Football
I personally have no problem with players getting a bit carried away and running towards the crowd when scoring a dramatic and/or late important goal, its highly emotional game at times and that, to me is a natural emotional reaction. I think the reasoning for it being a yellow card is for it to be a deterrent as, occasionally that can cause fans to rush down stairs and even spill onto the pitch which, in some circumstances could result in, and probably has at some point, people being injured in crowd rushes like that so, can understand both arguments for and against yellow cards here -

Hopefully that attention seeking *** from Wales who has milked the f**k out the Dundee postponement for freebies and sympathy has another awful trip to Scotland. -

I was at the game yesterday then pub afterwards but was aware of the hoo-ha over the non penalty award in extra time for Aberdeen. Just catching up with the highlights earlier on BBC iPlayer. The tackle by CCV in isolation would be a penalty kick, absolutely no doubt but, its a clear foul as the original cross goes over, staggering and hilarious in equal measure this is being ignored, Hoilett clearly barges Johnston in the back. -

Good post mate will read again -
Blah blah, bigot brothers, blah blah won't be watching etc. I actually think whoever wins the league will be slight favourites for this as the psychological blow of missing out on the title will be a factor, as will obviously the boost of winning the championship for the other side, possibly clutching at straws a wee bit but the bookies I think will have Celtic slight favourites. Hoping Maeda is back as he always give Tavernier a hard time and nullifies him to an extent going forward, other than his obligatory penalty of course.
