  1. I do wonder if a change in shape is coming or maybe some departures. For our midfield two we would have Butterfield, Bryson, Craig, Muzz, MacPherson, Crawford and probably someone else that I'm forgetting.

I can't remember if Cammy Ballantyne played any league minutes with us so it's now a case of Montrose or nothing for the rest of the season, but would really like to see him get a Championship loan and a contract extension ahead of next year.

More than happy if MacPherson goes back to St Mirren, even better if Crawford's extension somehow fails

Yeah sorry that's all it was, it just seemed like something that wasn't really worth making up, but can't find anything else to back it up

Same here, had a wee look but can't find anything. It's a random name for sure!

It was also just with someone saying earlier that they weren't convinced we were targeting the obvious positions of needs, and he would be yet another central midfielder

  3. Davidson in the Courier saying he wants a free agent in before Xmas. I do wonder if that's a league of Ireland type as a lot of those contract seem to end between November and January, but would be a weird one if it's a long-term free agent and we're just making the move now

Davidson also quoted as saying he expects "4 or 5 new faces" so somebody on here is gonna be chowing down on some hat I do believe

  4. Have the Zander Clark to Rangers rumours still been hovering about after Gerrard leaving or does that seem to have killed it.

Was looking back on some of CD's' comments about January and how it's not just about new faces, but also getting players on longer deals, but then maybe that depends on this month and how likely a relegation scrap appears to be.

I'm half hopeful that Rooney not really shining this season means we have a shot of keeping him

Preston have apparently agreed terms with a manager of another club, and their backroom team isn’t following them.

I’m guessing it’s the Plymouth manager.

Edit: Plymouth fans are adamant their managers staying. Could be interesting tomorrow.

Presume it is Ryan Lowe when the odds are so short, but interesting to see Graham Alexander a bit further down the list - a Preston legend + having a good season + clearly just at Motherwell to build his rep and get another crack down south

This would be an amazing time for Davidson to leave a sinking ship. Leaves with respect, legend and integrity all intact and goes before his stock plummets.

Next manager has it rough though. Chance to put a lot of credit in the bank with a mega important January or shite the bed and be the 'stain' on St Johnstone's managerial appointees by failing to turn it round.

I don't think I'm in the majority at all here, but I would quite happily see Davidson go. Obviously it sounds mad when he's a double cup-winning manager, but I'll always maintain that never happens if fans are in the stadium for the cup runs, his stubborn refusal to shift from his system and even bigger refusal to set the team up with a plan to control/win a game suggests he's been quickly figured out and doesn't have the ability to adapt.

We're basically set up in a way to keep things tight and relying on a set-piece or a moment of magic to score goals, but obviously that magic is non existence when we've got Chris Kane up front on his own. I would actually be interested to see how he got on down south as having better players might bail him out and allow that system to flourish, but it's also a world where clubs have no qualms about sacking a manager after 10 games, so if he replicated this stunning run of a goal from open play every 4/5 games when we're not playing Dundee then he'll be out on his arse before the season is over.

I think we’re maybe getting ahead of ourselves by thinking he’s away.

However, there’s a reason Maclean is his assistant. I think it’s clear he’d be taking over.

Of course, in fairness they'll just end up getting a Warnock/Holloway type plodder who'll get a run of results and then get sacked again next year, but if there's one thing I would ever trust with Saints, it's to get managerial appointments correct.

I've not really seen CD linked with them anywhere properly, just Scottish fans putting 2 and 2 together

    Clive is on the case.

    Panic over.

I think we can all mock Clive for being a dreadful agent, but let's just appreciate how excellent his contacts must be - He's had to publicly Tweet and tag in an unofficial fan page just to try and get some attention, while also going on the record to tout a player for a move - a player who I presume is under contract?

Didn't he also start tagging Saints in tweets when he was playing in a friendly for Grimsby too after his Premier League move(s) fell through? This is just top class agentry, he's transcended the profession.

There's a reason Devine has vanished beyond a couple of, out of position, cameos, I'd guess.

He's not the answer to our problems I wouldn't have thought, and we might even see him leave in January.

It will be interesting to see if he gets any chances before Janaury. CD is far too loyal to the same players, and I'm already fearing a midfield two of Crawford and MacPherson today because he'll back himself to improve them rather than being tough

Yeah I’m not sure about Booth being a terrible option as he’s done well as we’ve all seen. However I think he is one of those who looks like he could do with a wee break out of the starting 11 and we actually have a ready made replacement waiting in the wings.

Didn’t Devine start and play really well in Dingwall earlier in the season as well? Not actually sure if Callum believes in certain players doing well against certain teams but if he is then Devine could start today.

He certainly won the penalty that we (obviously) missed

  11. I am willing to die on this hill, get Devine back in the team and it will open the field up. If County are strong on the right then let's have some pace on the left to counter it and try and push them back.

Obv with Davidson it's always safety first, second and third so it will always be Booth because you know what you're going to get from him, but it shuts off the entire left hand side of the pitch for us

  12. Something else I've totally forgotten about Reece Devine. Is he really being punished for that slight mistake against Galatasaray, or has he been injured? In his few appearances he actually gave us some pace and attacking instincts on the left, plus Booth is average in every way - I get he's probably a CD favourite because he's predictable and all he values is defensive stability, but if Devine plays it gives opposing teams something to worry about on both wings, something that also opens up room in the middle for us.

Just now it's a case of cutting out the obvious ball to our right flank and we have nothing else
