  1. You've replied to my comment with two separate posts now, both read like they were written by a five year old. Quite mad that.
  2. Imagine taking valuable time out of your life to come on this forum and type the worst patter anyones ever heard. I don't even like Clyde FC right now and even I'm embarrassed for you. What a smelly little donkey.
  3. Had a wee look at the league stats, just out of interest. Pre-DGW leaving: 23 games (7 wins, 8 draws, 8 losses), 29 pts = 1.26 ppg Post-DGW leaving: 11 games (2 wins, 4 draws, 5 losses), 10 pts = 0.91 ppg DGW-shaped deficit = 0.35 ppg So since he left, we haven't really suffered a tremendous dip in form in the league. Obviously this isn't an exact science and other factors come into it. The really worrying thing going into next season though is applying the above to a full season. 1.26 ppg x 34 games would have us on 42 pts total, taking us above Alloa in 6th place (hypothetically, obviously not accounting for the teams that would have dropped points on our behalf). 0.91 ppg x 34 games would have us on 30.9 points total, putting us in the relegation play-off (again, hypothetically). It just shows the importance of having that one very decent player over the course of a season, especially in a lottery league like this one. From potentially challenging for the promotion play-offs to battling relegation. Again, I'm not a salaried member of the recruitment team and I just worked this out out of interest on a coffee break, so this should be at the forefront of Diamond and co.'s minds. OBVIOUSLY the solution would be to have a well balanced squad across the board rather than just having one maverick, a good keeper and 9 diddies but we shall see.
  4. I just assumed we had essentially signed Samuel as a glorified trialist. Not sure of his situation outside football but it's likely the case for visa-based reasons he would have to have a permanent contract. So sign him up until summer, start him in the diddy cup and use him sporadically in the league with a view to a more permanent stay beyond the summer.
  5. Was going to ask if anyone could sum the game up, this seems perfect. What a stinker.
  6. What happened with the likes of MacIsaac, Goss, Simpson etc? Were they just trapdoored? Seems absolutely wild that the club has essentially been through three entire squads since Herdy and Muscles left. Harvey just hasn't worked so far, but whilst it's true he's signed a full team of players they're clearly dross that was available at short notice. It could be the case that in the summer he'll have a much broader sample of players to choose from. Punting him is surely a bit premature, especially after such an intense period of upheval.
  7. Ah I see, Transfermarkt has his contract expiring on the 31st May 2022. Good job I'm not a salaried member of a professional football clubs recruitment team eh?!
  8. There are plenty of players capable of scoring goals at this level available on a free transfer at the end of the season. We have a recruitment team, and they should be moving heaven and earth at this point to get one of those lads tied up right now. For example, Russell McLean is out of contract and a (relatively) local boy, given that he's from Falkirk. Lewis Jamieson is out of contract in the summer and he's potentially young enough that a brief but successful drop into part time football could allow him to propel himself back into the championship. Gary Oliver and Robbie Muirhead at Morton are free in the summer and are surely coming to the end of their full time tenures. Louis Longridge and Bob McHugh from QP. This is literally just me taking a quick look at Transfermarkt for strikers who's contracts are expiring whilst I take a coffee break at work. A salaried recruitment team will (or rather, should) have more information/contacts to hand and be hyper aware that this is the most important position on the park and we very recently lost our only source of 10+ goals. They should be straight onto these boys and putting everything they can into signing them. It's not an easy job but I'm assuming that's the reason that Diamond etc are being paid by the club.
  9. As far as I know, the only players signed up for next season are Parry, McCormack, Kennedy and McGrath. With any luck, the latter three will leave. We should try and keep Livingstone, Cuddihy and Splaine and see if McAllister and Jamieson will return. Totally agree with this. Lennon is famously late with securing transfers (that year at Alloa where he went on holiday during a crucial week in the window sticks out) but we absolutely cannot be lazy this summer. We need to strike fast and get good options signed up early as opposed to bottom feeding.
  10. It’s well known that Clyde are paying part of his wages. Why on earth would RR tear up the loan agreement? Clyde were the ones stupid enough to agree to take him back on a deal where a three way agreement was required to end the loan. Tearing up the loan would mean they’re paying the full whack again. Just a big reminder that Clyde FC - perhaps the stupidest club in the country.
  11. I don’t really think it’s wild to suggest that Danny should have went. For many reasons (some admittedly not football related) this has been a grim season for Clyde. The recruitment has been absolutely mental and some of the tactics equally so. Don’t get me wrong though, I like Danny and Allan and I’m happy that they’ve kept us up. I also don’t think it’s wild to suggest that this summer is his most important since taking over. Finally having to build a squad without Goodwillie in what will surely be the strongest League 1 group in some time. The potential for disaster is huge and we will not be able to get away with signing Lowland League joeys.
  12. I used to live near Camelon and would often dive to Carmuirs if I couldn't get away from work on Saturday afternoon in time to make Clyde away games. It really got to the point where I considered Camelon my second team but obviously after Herd (and the full management team and squad) left it became a pretty dire place to be. A mate told me recently that yer mad man Alan Horne has been appointed to the committee too, he was over on the Clyde P&B page voicing his unwavering and bizarrely worded support for David Goodwillie - seems like a wild move to appoint him but I'm sure he'll add... something. Good job there's no controversial goings on at Clyde to spoil things for me eh?
  13. A) Because the club don’t need any further controversy, the reason is completely obvious to anyone that isn’t a total headbanger. B) It’s goal of the season, who cares. C) Goodwillie isn’t gonna be pals with you because you want his goals to be included in a crap poll, get a grip
  14. Posts like this should be grounds to be added to some kind of watch list
  15. Yeah this seemed like it was on purpose. Statement appearing on the website with no tweet/other announcements etc. The board obviously knows it's a no-win situation.
  16. This is the thing. I think after recent events, it's fairly clear that whilst the board may have the best interests of the club at heart, they're not really a group of leaders that can be trusted with, or are even capable of decisions of such magnitude. They were financially strongarmed by a guy who looks like an aged up Austin Powers ffs. I still think the most likely outcome has been mentioned in the previous post - grovelling to NLC. Surely there's some kind of a benefit for them to have us continue as tenants. I'm not sure about the finances of the situation, but you'd assume that *some* money from us is better than no money from anyone.
  17. Mad amount of disrespect in this post from a guy who's team has the worst kit in Scottish Football history
  18. Cheers lads - as far as I know he was recently released by Fauldhouse, no idea how he ended up at Clyde on trial. Recently we've signed some absolute drivel from the LL and below to dive straight into our first team, and I was hoping that maybe this laddie was going to be a bit of a gem. Still only 20 of course, so world-beater status is still pending (maybe)
  19. Hello lads - blast from the (recent) past time. Clyde have had a lad called Liam Scullion on trial as of late, playing in our recent Glasgow Cup games. He had a 6-month loan with Stenny from Hamilton, where he was part of the group that done well in the UEFA Youth League. For some reason with my tenuous Stenny connection I seem to remember some excitement about him, although he would have been fairly young at the time - am I right or did he not turn up too well? Either way he's a wee bit older now, so here's hoping if we give him a deal he'll do well.
  20. 50% is what I've seen bandied about, which makes the decision from the board to go ahead with it all the more mental and makes me think that the money would have to have been supplemented. I think it's more informed than guesswork. When we originally signed Goodwillie, we didn't have a mass player exit or wage cut in order to fit the extra money p/w in so logic would dictate that the majority of that money would come from an external investor. My guess is that say Caplan invested £10,000 p/a to supplement wages, maybe he increased that investment by a significant amount to accommodate Goodwillie's wage. He leaves to go to Raith in the middle of the season and then we get the chance to bring him back. Now maybe Caplan has an agreement to pay money into the club monthly, so he's maybe demanded that some of his money goes towards 50% of Goodwillie's RR wage (which would already be covered by the money he's agreed to provide) - or he pulls out all of his money/doesn't provide future payments. That then means the club is at panic stations because of the immediate shortfall in finances that it would cause, hence bringing him back. Either way, his money is involved somehow and the guy is a weird wee loser. At the time, I was an owner. The odd financial nature of the signing and lack of information provided to owners in the first place was one of the (many) reasons I didn't renew ownership.
  21. Sorry, to be more specific - I was fairly sure that a lot of the money that Caplan supplemented the club with went towards maintaining Goodwillie's wage. It's also fairly common knowledge at this point that Caplan was one of the investors threatening to pull the plug if we didn't take up the Goodwillie-on-loan option, so I assumed that he would be supplementing the 50% of his RR wage given that amount would have been ballpark what he earned p/w at Clyde. Obviously I don't have this in black and white, it's just based off of what I assumed was common knowledge from conversations with fellow fans, owners, directors etc.
  22. Elsdon lives down south, so I'd be surprised if he wanted to do another season of hauling his arse up to Cumbernauld every weekend to play in League 1. If he fancied it though, I'd keep him ahead of Page. Out of the current crop, I'd keep: Parry, JBH, Elsdon, Livingstone, Cuddihy, Cunningham, Gomis, Splaine and Love. I don't want Kennedy or McGrath but they're signed. Hopefully as mentioned before, they can amicably depart. Docherty has been better than we thought he'd be but are we really going to give him another year? I wouldn't, but I can't see him being a huge earner so wouldn't be too annoyed if he stayed. I'd love to sign LJ and McAllister but I can't see LJ dropping down to L1 for a third season unless it's to a full time team. McAllister may be more realistic unless he wants to have another crack at FT himself. I really am interested in this summer's recruitment. I think it seems fairly nailed on now that Caplan won't be putting Goodwillie's wages towards other players, so this is the first time in a long time that the manager will have to build a team with that in mind. Maybe this will lead to us signing some good players, as opposed to bottom feeding off of the dross that will be released from the Lowland League.
  23. Thank you Mr. Pedant, you know what I mean though. My bad for not putting respec on their name.
  24. I honestly wouldn't put re-signing Pat Scullion past the current management and recruitment team.
  25. Ah ok. Liam is Conor's younger brother, both played with Fauldhouse. I just assumed Conor was looking to get back into the seniors.
