  1. I see the increase in Fife-based teams in the league is correlating directly with the decline in original humour in this forum. Predictable. Was mildly funny the first and second times someone posted this exact thing.
  2. Any idea who the Alloa trialists are? I’d imagine we’ll be sniffing about your trialist cast offs that don’t manage to win a deal. Couple of decent finishes from the #10!
  3. You’ll get used to seeing Clyde FC behaving bizarrely
  4. For a bit of fun, and drive engagement. Tease it and people talk about it until you see it in full, so it’ll naturally result in more sales as opposed to just dropping the thing.
  5. I wonder if this will finally be the season we go for names on the reverse of the jerseys. With the transition into full squad numbers over the course of the season I've noticed that the majority of teams we play go for named jerseys. It certainly adds an extra level of professionalism to the product on the park.
  6. For me, centre half or centre mid is the perfect position for a captain. I think that's more of a product of the qualities that tend to come along with players that play in those positions, but it's normally good for them to be closer to the ref.
  7. No, he's fortunately now only burdening the books for Raith Rovers for the foreseeable
  8. Announce full photo gallery so we can see the trialists. Fun to see big Thicot wearing the armband.
  9. Ah interesting. Are QOS staying full time? I know Hamilton have one or two part time players which is a model which would accommodate him. Not sure what Cuddihy does outside of football but it's hard to imagine a lad of 25 chucking his work to go full time for a season with QOS.
  10. Just noticed on one of the statements that stock of the new home and away kits have been received by RJM Sports. I don't know why but I thought we were carrying the home strip over this season. Hopefully we go back to black shorts for the home strip. Looking forward to seeing both.
  11. Maybe I'm missing the obvious here but are we saying Cuddihy is on trial with Hamilton?
  12. Anyway, let's hope we get some good news soon and I can stop my horrendous bleating.
  13. The thing is, with the standard of the league this season I would have expected Danny and the recruitment team to be aggressively going for a higher standard of player early doors to get them sold on us and tied up. Fair enough if we have went for those players and been KB'd for whatever reason, but it's hard to believe that the team looked at Jordan Allan playing last season and ID'd him as a player that would keep us in the division, and deemed him of high enough quality to prioritise signing him. Maybe I'm just being extremely pessimistic but jeezo, that's not good. As I've said before, we used over 30 players last season after signing a bunch from a much lower level. And it wasn't like we'd done in the 90s or what Stenny have done with Will Sewell for instance, we signed known dross. A more streamlined squad with a few players of higher quality is what's required. It's very disappointing that the first 7 players we went for were... those.
  14. Oh wow, not a fan of Danny Lennon saying 'Every player we've gone for so far we've managed to get' - that's crazy and extremely disappointing if true. Unfathomable to think that we haven't even reached out to a better standard of player.
  15. This seems like it's actually true, and according to Gretna 2008's website he scored five goals in one game last season too - how did you get that info? Do you work with Craig Howie? Any word on the other trialists?
  16. I'll be honest, I went to Alloa vs Partick with a couple of mates and this kit is much nicer in person.
  17. Someone needs to get their Sherlock Holmes on and find out who he is
  18. Roberto Nditi has re-signed with Forfar - he's one I would have wanted us to be looking at this season. Really surprised he's dropped down to League 2, despite the Forfar connection.
  19. I am very surprised Sibbald isn’t staying in the top tier or even the top of the Championship. Always thought he was a great wee player.
  20. Sorry, allow me to elaborate. I meant more 'who showed up as being L1 quality last season' as opposed to 'who SHOULD be L1 quality'. Parry, Livingstone and Gomis I'll give you. Splaine I do really like but he's extremely frustrating. He had a few games towards the end of the season and scaterred around where he turned up very well, but I feel like on average he was lacking. Two goals in 35 appearances for a box-to-box centre midfielder is poor too. Cuddihy and Cunningham made around the same number of appearances last season as David Goodwillie, who left in January. They just didn't play enough games and when they did, they were poor for the most part because ultimately they were so far behind in terms of match sharpness. Cunningham had 4 goals in 25 across all competitions, all against East Fife across two games who were ultimately relegated. That isn't the form of a forward player who was playing at the required level. Grant certainly WAS L1 level but couldn't get a game for a bang average Stirling team last season in the league below. I'm happy he's back but I'll reserve judgement. We're told Lyon has improved as a player - again, I'll reserve judgement. The other signings for the most part are not an upgrade on what we had last season. As much as we all dig at Rob Jones, he scored 4 and assisted 6 last season. Duthie scored 6 with no assists, Allan scored 3 with 4 assists. We all know Jones isn't L1 standard, so is signing players with similar, or arguably worse relevant stats an upgrade? My point here is, we used around 30 players last season and (imho) about 4 showed up as being the quality required in the league. I'll repeat, we can do far worse than Mark Docherty.
  21. He's not League 1 level, but who was for us last season? Who have we signed so far that you'd deem League 1 level? Most of the boys we released have returned from whence they came - several levels below. He was clearly one of our better performers and a good influence in the changing room. I'm not being sentimental, Kevin Nicol was apparently just as good a boy to have around but I wouldn't be touching him this season with a shitty stick. We've signed similar quality this season so far. We could have done far worse than re-signing Docherty. Fwiw, I don't WANT to be signing him either - but that's simply the pool we're fishing in now. Players of substandard quality that we hope our relatively experienced manager can get a tune out of.
