  1. I don’t. It doesn’t make us tighter at the back. It gets us pinned in with more bodies behind the ball. You also need a football player in there to take the ball out of defence - something we don’t have.
  2. Clyde are too big for this league and that they've won the Scottish Cup unlike the rest of you diddy teams.
  3. See the official attendance for the Jeanfield game was only 951, which is quite surprising. It seemed like Jeanfield brought half of Perth along for it.
  4. Did the original poster expect Annan to be challenging at the top of the table this season? Peter Murphy done tremendously well to get Annan promoted for the first time ever last campaign. They were better drilled than (admittedly, a very poor) Clyde across both legs of the playoffs but it wasn't a cakewalk, which suggested to me that there would be a bit of a struggle this term especially when you factor in budget and location. Simply 'not being bottom of the table' at this point I would have thought would have been decent for Annan, especially being three points off QotS with a game in hand.
  5. Looks like Jimmy Choo has taken the next step towards trying to get attention
  6. For all we’ve been ripping Leighfield to shreds, he made an absolutely tremendous save last night. I’ve got to say, I didn’t see as many positives from last night as others seem to have. The game was very tight and until the first goal to me there didn’t look like there was much, if anything, between the sides. Our midfield was completely anonymous in the first half. Craig and Lyon were terrible. Stevenson was so ineffective on the ball it was unbelievable. Rennie looks a ghost up front on his own and couldn’t hold the ball in for a second. That said, we won a game of football, which we haven’t done a lot of for the past few seasons. It was good to see McCall animated and involved in the game as opposed to what we’ve seen of late. You have to think that these games are continually informing him of what we need come January. The red card was a bit of a joke. I thought the ref had a very poor game in general.
  7. Ah that makes more sense then. He's definitely one I'd look to try and get in January if possible.
  8. I think at the moment if I'm Ian McCall and my choice is between a creaking-but-very-experienced Neil Parry and Leighfield in the form he's currently in, I'm going with Parry. Neither is ideal though. Might be worth giving Wullie Muir a call in January. Keiran MacDonald has also just signed for Gartcairn after his release from Edinburgh City. I would have him straight into the team in a heartbeat. You have to maybe wonder if McCall's missed that because of a lack of lower league knowledge, but hopefully not.
  9. Janczyk done well for us iirc. Obviously not an athlete but done his job. You could see Clarke was some player for us and scored a fair few goals but the Clyde Madness struck and he was played miles out of position.
  10. With Leighfield making such an arse of it the other day, I wonder if McCall will bring Neil Parry back in to the starting line up for Friday evening? I certainly would. With that and Connor Young's injury and the fact that Morton wont want King playing in mind I'd probably go for the following: - Parry - - Hynes - P. Grant - Dunachie - Craig - - R. Grant - Carswell - - Leslie - L. Scullion - Stevenson - - Rennie - It's certainly not ideal, but without Connor Young I don't think we can go two up top from the start as I just don't trust Fraser Malcolm.
  11. Of course, but they do bear the clubs name and we would be playing at the ground so it would be foolish to think that the actions of the club in the past few seasons and the future professional status wouldn't have a bearing on any council decision.
  12. Agree. The set ups are much more “professional” these days. It’s resulted in better athletes across the board. Doesn’t necessarily make for a better watch though!
  13. I had been thinking about this a bit. Realistically, the only thing we have to offer that sets us apart from Finnart is that we're in the professional league system. Finnart are well funded (*cough*) and have teams stretching through the age groups. I know a few coaches within their set up and it's very good. They're already a part of the East End community. We're still fresh in the public consciousness for being rapist-sympathisers. I wonder if the extra info requested was to do with what would happen if the very real possibility that we're relegated and drop into the Lowland League. We'd lose a lot of money just by simply not being within that professional system, which in turn would affect our ability in the future to re-establish a youth set up and ingrain ourself back in the East End. With that being the case, surely it pushes things further in Finnarts favour.
  14. Your guess is as good as mine. I wish they'd just put us out of our misery.
  15. Could see it coming a mile off to be honest. Clyde must have been an absolutely languid place to play football for the past few seasons. Fair play to him.
  16. I don't think there will be as much movement in January as most of us would like. I imagine this season will be about getting to May in at least 9th position in the league before a complete overhaul in the summer. I think my main desire is that McCall can overcome the 'Clyde Madness' and just play bodies in their correct positions and address the obvious deficiencies in the squad, which should see us safe. My prediction is that King and Stevenson will go, along with the likes of Conor Scullion and Mulvanny. I reckon McCall will bring in a couple of sensible loans and maybe be able to wangle a couple of free transfers that toe the line between 'experienced' and 'finished'. Of course, as good a partnership as Rennie and Young are forming neither of them looks like a real goalscorer, so it would be good if that could be addressed in some way.
  17. Can all the laddies that said MK was definitely offered the job reveal their sources now? They’ve clearly done yous an absolute belter.
  18. Can I shock you? We’ve been watching players play in positions they haven’t a clue how to play in for around two decades. I call it the “Clyde Madness”.
  19. For the last few years our managers did not know a good player to sign, and also could not use them properly, so as far as I’m concerned this is a positive.
  20. Dangerously competent stuff from Clyde here. It has me feeling extremely suspicious. For real though, extremely happy with that if true. The guy can obviously come across as a weapons-grade helmet sometimes, but he's managed over 800 games since 2000 and has had decent spells at some top clubs. The pessimist in me is still itching to get his feelings across though. This is a completely different animal for him. At the moment, we're Team 42 and staring down the barrel of the Lowland League. Hopefully it works out but I'll feel much more at ease in a few weeks time.
