  1. Why and when? I really don't get this false love for him as if we're desperately holding onto him as a hero. He was there for us when we got relegated from the championship in spectacular fashion and apparently had a go at Hughes, he was there for us in a coaching capacity last season which everyone claims was a disaster and he was there for us this season as the shittest interim manager possible who thought one of the top goal scorers in Scotland was best suited at right wing back. Pull your tongue out his arse and get rid of the guy. He's done nothing for this club except take a wage. Finally a bit of sense. Well said.
  2. I think Smiths gripe about the video analysis was that he had it and it was a good set up but when they moved, he didn't have it and was more or less told it's too expensive so make do with what you've got. McG highlighted its impotence and he has a strong need for it. I get the impression there's going to be a lot of trust put in McGlynn and what he says (within reason) will go. Young, Sim and Clark have all said over the last couple of years the managers won't be given free reign on all football decisions after the whole Locke signing his pals situation. I think this will change for J McG and I think if he needs something that's going to cost money, the BoD will be going out and looking for the funds.
  3. This is exciting. People are actually happy for a change! The BoD have made a good call and the announcement was well done with a bit of class. Never would have thought McGlynn would come back in all honesty but it's quite a coup from the board so well done to them. Well done also to Wardy too! Throughout the whole time he never wavered and persisted with his canvassing for McGlynn. Hopefully this is what the club needed to bring everyone back on the same track and get us all moving forward together. Thank f**k Barry Smiths gone is all I can say. Never liked the guy anyway.
  4. Get rid of Cuthbert and we're clear of the dead wood. There's no place for him at the club and I'd rather see him away than clinging onto a wage. As I mentioned earlier, he's done nothing of any note for the club.
  5. "We'd nevur huv even goat a job if it wusny fur that man oer there. Big thanks to Allan Young! Best chairman ahv evur hud"
  6. Caption Competition: Best caption wins and the lucky winner will get to pick the team on Saturday.
  7. Does he have 'developmental' issues like OCD or Aspergers as well?
  8. Starting to see it being less and less likely that Duffy would take the job. The fact that he was on Sportsound again today kind of shows his interest. If he was keen I'd have at least thought he'd want to come and see what he has to deal with. Allan Moore was supposedly meant to be in the main stand today. Wonder if his Raith TV interviews will be enough to win over our fans... [emoji849]
  9. Can Cuthbert realistically come back into the fold as an assistant/coach after all of this? Despite the players coming out and being all pally with him and wanting him as the manager, surly they must know the writings on the wall for him. And going by his interviews, I'm sure he'll let them know what he feels about them and their performance.
  10. Yes I did and still think we should have sold him when he had more value. As it turns out, the ludicrous argument that he was the player to win us the league last season was utter shite. As I pointed out several times. What credit does Kevin Cuthbert actually deserve? All he did was supposedly stand up to John Hughes after we were relegated. Granted he was injured for a large part of that season but that's all he did. I really don't get this love in for 'Cat'. He's genuinely done little to nothing for the club since he got here except for the rumours of standing up to John Hughes and taking a wage. Joined the club in a very bland Grant Murray season, was part of the team that finished 4th (not bad), 23 games the season we got relegated and then took on a coaching/assistant manager role last season which everyone seems to claim was a complete disaster.
  11. Hughes didn't help the situation too much but I can see a degree of logic in his argument. He'll kick himself for taking the job under the circumstances that we were in at the time. No transfer window a very poor team, a key player on loan to a relegation rival and coming in behind a manager who seemed to be well liked by the players yet completely useless at his job. The approach that Hughes took to managing us didn't galvanise the players and backfired. But his managerial credentials are good enough for him to be able to pass the blame from his shoulders on to a team who really did look like they would happily be anywhere else other than in a Raith top. Maybe Cuthbert did give him his personal opinion on what he thought of Hughes and some of it may well have been justified, but there were plenty of other players in that dressing room that were equally, if not more, deserving of hearing some home truths.
  12. Well there was supposedly a bust up in the changing room after we were relegated between the 2 of them where Cuthbert told Hughes what he thought of him. Everyone then seemed to fall in love with Cuthbert for this as he was standing up to the guy who basically slated the players for being shite, even though they were shite, and for 60% of the season the fans were also slating them for being shite. Some stories claim that he had Hughes up against the wall and others have it that Hughes basically told the players that it was all their faults and not his to which Cuthbert stood up to him.
  13. He failed to win the league, he failed to win the playoffs. I'm not going to deny that he should have shouldered some of the responsibility for this but our league win/unbeaten statistics under him with his tactics show that maybe they weren't as bad as some would like to make out on here. My point still stands that Cuthbert comes accords as an idiot in his interviews. In between his football cliches I did notice he was being very cuddly with his opposite number Petrie. Full of praise and admiration for the Montrose manager before the game. Might be getting his brownie points in early for his new gaffer?
  14. Barry Smiths tactics and team selection had us a post width away from winning a league where we were the second strongest team. It also got him one of, if not the best record of results in one season a Raith manager has ever had. Kevin Cuthbert played the joint top goals scorer in the whole of Scotland at right wing back, dropped a centre back who featured in the SPFL team of the week and has clearly just read the book of managerial interview cliches before sitting down to bore us all with his usual patter about his demands for the team and showing Montrose the ultimate respect so we can go out and beat them. Out of his depth is an understatement. I'd also like to point out that whilst Barry Smiths tactics and our style of football was so heavily criticised last season and this season, Kevin Cuthbert has had a coaching role at the club throughout that period. Perhaps he's escaped a bit too lightly from the boo boys who hounded out Smith.
  15. Seems like he's a lovely chap based on his idiotic interviews, tactics, team selection and recent results.
  16. Why? I take it the same rules should be applied to all the people who lambasted Barry Smith? Didn't see much respect on here for him?
  17. Based on what? I think he comes across a bit of an idiot. Tries a bit too hard and seems to contradict himself a few times trying to justify his changes and ludicrous formation.
  18. It won't be Cuthbert. If the BoD wanted him then he'd have the job. There's no way they're going to wait for him to win to appoint him that just makes no fucking sense at all. It would just mean that they've wasted time and resources. If it's a manager from another club they want then there's obviously approaches to be made, compensation packages to be agreed and contracts drawn up. It also might confirm rumours over Petrie at Montrose. Not going to poach a manager a couple of weeks before we play his side. If a club sacks a manager then they have all the potential candidates in place before they sack him. Then it's a case of interviews and appointments. With this situation, no one saw Smith walking out. So the BoD have had to open the position and wait for candidates applying and drawing up a list of who they want.
  19. Excluding the cup game in Dingwall, there's been some great displays of passing and moving this season with the occasional long ball thrown in. You can definitely see that the players are a bit more creative this season than last. Everyone seems to think that Smiths tactics were 'punt it long'. They weren't at all. If you remember that day at home against Alloa (the 0-0) and several other very underwhelming games, the players were moving the ball about and 10 Alloa players were camped in their own half watching. It wasn't until we started going a bit more direct that chances started being created because we were putting them under a bit more pressure. Last season we didn't have the creative spark for passing and moving and breaking teams down so it seemed the 'Plan B' was to go long and direct. A lot of the time it didn't work and wasn't pretty but with Smiths win record last season it must have served some kind of purpose.
  20. At this moment in time, how much money he had at Morton is completely irrelevant. He's got experience, he's got a team well worthy of winning this league and he's got time to do it.
  21. Thing about Duffy that people don't like was how he 'struggled' to win the League One title with Morton as if it's a cake walk. Regardless of how he won it, he won it! But the best way to judge him and his team was by how well they adapted to the step up into the Championship. Mid table the season directly after promotion and then playoffs the season after that. Last season maybe was a bit tougher but finishing 7th, 20 points off relegation, is hardly a disaster. Maybe he was a victim of his own success; winning a league, keeping them in the league, playoffs and a league cup semi final all get forgotten about if there's no improvements the season after. People are concerned about his lack of trophies and titles in a 30 year career, yet his only trophy/title win came at his last job and was only 3 seasons ago. If he's in for the job and that's the list of people he's up against then it's surely his to take.
  22. Could well be the fact there maybe are some financial issues still being worked out. Especially if there are certain areas of Barry Smiths contract needing sorted first. There's plenty that could be going on but I doubt the BoD would be willing to hold off making an appointment on the basis of waiting and seeing how the interim guy gets on. It's looking more and more likely that the club are struggling to find the right candidate though. There's a fine line between taking time to go through each one and struggling to pick the best out of a bad bunch. I'd have thought that if they had a clear idea of the person they wanted, he'd at least be in the door by now.
