  1. Baird won us a trophy and was part of a team that almost won the First Division! Proven goal scorer for us and has done this business since for Falkirk. Vaughan has prospects but has lost a season to injury and done well for Dumbarton by scoring 4 goals and setting up a few. We've all suddenly become experts on the ins and outs on footballers contracts. We didn't lose Bates for "nothing" and I'll agree that the deal was probably not the best for the club but Vaughan has an extended contract and more first team experience than Bates did. This would mean that we would be due some kind of development fee because he's under 24 years old. If the deal doesn't suit us then we say he has to stay. Then we will see how loyal he is, will he continue to play for us or will he "sit in the stands" in the huff as the chairman mentioned in his interview? Now, now Bambino7 let's not resort to name calling and getting upset. There's no hatred for Vaughan, I'm just not looking at the guy through rose tinted glasses. Your obviously head over heels for your mate, but all I'm actually saying is; let's not get carried away over 1 player. There's more and arguably better players in our squad that I'd be happy to keep. Based on their performances in OUR jerseys.
  2. Has everyone forgotten about the other young talented players that have had a much bigger impact on our team this season or is this massive hardon everyone has for Vaughan taken the attention away from them? Matthews - by far one of our best players this season. Workhorse in the middle of the park. Scored goals, set up goals and defended, comfortable with the ball at feet and plays with a much older head on his shoulders. Callaghan - A player with so much first team appearances he was almost a certainty to be on the team sheet every week before he got injured. Court - played 4 games, scored 1 and set up 1! Yes Vaughan is a talented player, he's a hot prospect for us but who do we really expect to be coming in for him? Maybe Bambino7 is enjoying lathering his back with sun cream and fighting his honour on a football forum but let's all be real here! 4 goals and a few assists for Dumbarton and half a season with us isn't really going to have too many teams salivating over him. He may well go onto become a good player in the future but we have so many promising young players that we want to stay on. Let's not forget about them.
  3. Take the money I'd say! Hasn't proven much for us at all. I'd say losing Baird was worse than losing Vaughan.
  4. Well done Rosa Parks! Your actions were quite clearly helpful in getting the change you needed for your club. [emoji122][emoji106][emoji123] The board will know he importance of the fans seeing as less than 24 hours after we were relegated, the Chairman was in front of a camera explaining the situation and letting the fans know exactly what the clubs feelings on the matters were and that they will do what they can to rectify the problem. My plan is actually to support the club. Get behind the new management team and players and hope that if everyone else does the same then we might be able to get ourselves back on track. It's very easy to jump on the blame campaign and all that does is create divides and negativity. I'll buy my season ticket again and I'd be urging anyone else that was thinking about it to do the same. Every penny and bit of support will help.
  5. I'm not defending the board for what they've done. Just know that right now there's no knight in shining armour to come and change anything at the board room level. Alan Young has said he's going to be here for at least this season, Drysdale is likely to leave the club, the board will probably remain the same, we will sign a new manager and he'll sign new players. If we fail to get promoted then the club will likely go part-time and then we can go through the process of sacking the board, replacing the board then rebuilding. Right now that's not happened. The board made the right decision with McKinnon and they know more than anyone how vital it is that they get this one right. We will lose players and we've not exactly got any good bargaining position on their fees given this situation so they will go for less than their value. But right now, what can we realistically do other than stop grumbling and actually try to turn a negative into a positive and look forward to next season?
  6. So when you said that if it were your club then actions speak louder than words, you don't actually know what actions you'd take?? But now you've come up with an action. Cripple the club even further and reduce the cash flow to prevent the funds being available for players... Great plan! And when that doesn't work we can all moan on here about how shite the board are for not being able to cope with us all being petulant children cutting off our noses to spite our miserable faces. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] I think Lewis is needing his boots cleaned, maybe run along and see if he's anymore titbits for you to feast on [emoji112][emoji112][emoji112]
  7. I'm struggling to see what point you're trying to make here? We know all of this... The Chairmans come out and talked through his version of it all. Do you want to back further and dig deeper into the realms of history?? Maybe if McGlynn didn't drop McGurn in the tail end of 2010/11 season we would have won the league and still been in the Premiership right now!! What if we hadn't got rid of Tony Calderon?? We could have been in the Champions League Final by now!! It's happened, constantly reminding all of us about it won't make it change. If you feel so strongly about it, you go and stump up the cash and buy out Simm, Caira and the rest of them and appoint your own board and see how you get on when everyone's criticising your every move.
  8. So it wasn't a direct action from being relegated. Unfortunately, we don't have the cash or resources to be able to attract a Chief Exec from another club. What actions would you be suggesting we do?
  9. I can't see Drysdale being at the club unless it's on a part-time or voluntary basis. He's now an elected councillor for Perth. Pretty sure he can't divide his time up that much to remain in charge at the club and I'm very sure the club can't afford to pay him what he was on if he's going to be dedicated to another job.
  10. I was sure Leanne Dempsters deal was agreed before you guys went down?? I'll need something for the petrol..
  11. Right well let's all jump in my time machine and go back and stop it then...
  12. What actions would you suggest? Sack all the board and get all the others that are desperate to give up their time and money to take shite off everyone when things go bad? They fucked up, we know this, they know this and everyone's paying the price. They've got a chance to get it right this time round and I'm pretty sure they all know the importance of learning from the shambles of last season. And with regards to your club, when you guys fell like a stone from mid table to the championship after sacking a manager and appointing a dud as his replacement, what were the actions taken at the top table? Did you get rid of the Chairman or other members of the board? The whole interview was an acceptance of the catastrophe of last season! Do you want to see the Chairman and board begging for forgiveness? He came out and said, we got it wrong and we will make sure we do everything we can to get it right. There's not much else they can do? It was good enough for him to stand up and give us reasoning and answers to what happened this season. People seem to have been expecting some kind of public execution video. Moaning about everything the board do from now until they are either hounded out or leave the club will not be proactive. And until there's a better alternative, these are the guys we are stuck with.
  13. I think the blame game has to be stopped at some point, the board have admitted to their failings and also stated that they are still running the club. There's plenty of reasons we went down but where will that kind of attitude get us? Do you think angry fans blaming the board for everything and criticising their every move will attract players to the club or make players think about staying? It is still raw but it'll be a hell of a long summer and possibly season next year if all we do is moan at every decision the club make. Since Saturday the Chairman has accepted the blame for some of the decisions and Thomson has apologised for what was on the park. Let's just get over it and move forward instead of always being so negative.
  14. An apology to the fans is exactly what I'd have expected from Thomson. He didn't have the best season and wouldn't be comfortable with him if we were still in the Championship next season. But as we're not, then I'd be happy to see him give it a go to get us back up.
  15. [emoji23][emoji23] come on now! Does it really matter if the board have to tell us that M'Voto has left? I'm sure there's plenty more that are on their way. Sometimes the "problem" is that people like to find faults and failures regardless.
  16. He was a lovable player but cost us far too many goals and his last game proved that. Sore one to lose him to the Pars but hopefully they don't get the best out of him. Just hope this isn't the start of teams snatching our players and then showing us how good they could have been under good management.
  17. It's clearly a done deal then if it's been put in a Facebook poll... [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]
  18. He was on Off the Ball on Saturday. Did say he'd be signing a new contract when someone text in and asked if he'd signed a new deal but maybe it was slightly cagey. He has had a bit of a clear out at Dumbarton which would suggest he has plans for the season to come but also said he'd had offers but none of them the right one to leave where he is now.
  19. I agree with the first part but totally disagree with the second. School visits, community projects, meetings with the fans, openness in interviews and being approachable are all things that are needed at our club. Granted all of these things are a lot easier to do when the team is winning but it was a huge factor when they went looking for someone after McKinnon left. I do know that they did see Laurie Ellis as almost a bigger loss because of the work he did (largely off his own back) for the club off the pitch and away from the training ground. McKinnons open invitation to the fans for a drink at O'Connels went down extremely well I remember. Especially as it was on the back of a injury time winner against Morton. Picked up a lot of publicity too.
  20. The other main factor the board are looking for, and I know this was the case for McKinnons replacement, is that the club want someone that is "community minded". McKinnon and Ellis were always on hand for community based projects, shirts getting signed, school visits etc. Locke had that up his sleeve which went in his favour. I know that the clubs number one ambition is to get out of League 1 first time but there has to be a massive effort to try and get fans back on board and I'm sure they'll be hoping that the next manager can help with that.
  21. I think the bottom line for us to realise is that in Scottish Football at most levels, managers that come in are going to be young and relatively inexperienced. These guys are going to be learning their trade at places like us. The key word is recruitment, we can't have a say on who the manager brings in and let's go so we have to have someone that has had a career where they've got the contacts, worked with or had experiences of players they trust to be good enough to do a job for them as a manager. People like McKinnon were highly regarded in Scottish football and had worked with and played with players at plenty of clubs and levels. Jack Ross proved it by making 10 changes in January for St Mirren! Grant Murray failed with us on that front and so did Gary Locke. I'd happily take another younger manager like Young because he's been around the block a bit as a player. Witnessed different managerial styles, played with different players, worked with players in League 1 and had someone like Billy Stark to call upon for contacts and advice on players.
  22. That's interesting, I think Young put his hat in the ring for the sake of it last season, knowing fine well he was under the requirements for experience and knowing he had the comfort of the job he was already in. Locke had the experience and the capability to win the board over as a hungry manager looking to prove himself. Pretty sure I heard Aitken is in a pretty good job outside of football at Rolls Royce so really would be a gamble for him leaving that kind of comfort.
  23. Hmm that is a worry, be interesting to see what Albion fans think about him. I don't know if he still makes himself eligible as a player now or not. Those stats would be concerning, but keeping Albion Rovers up was his ambition and he managed it so well done to him. With facilities, full-time squads and budget that we'd have you'd think he's getting every opportunity to succeed. Hopefully...
  24. I would have been underwhelmed if he came in and we were still in the Championship but the fact that he's been one of Albion Rovers most successful managers and had a fairly decent playing career (even though he was a townie), I'd be quite happy with him now. McKinnon had done ok at Brechin when we brought him in and he'd had no experience with a full-time squad prior to us as well so there's not too much of a difference there. Young was also in the Main Stand on Saturday and has left Albion Rovers so must be in the plans for someone and we're about the only club at a realistic level that are looking for a new manager and that he'd be qualified enough to walk into.
