Do you have trouble retaining information, seriously?  The club are not tied into anything, we use the council owned areas of the main stand on an add hoc basis(the upper level corporate lounges and catering facilities) because we have no alternative elsewhere in the stadium, we do not “lease” these areas but pay a percentage of what profits there are from club run hospitality on match days,  the club already has outline planning permission (already approved by the big bad council) for a stand with corporate catering facilities on the east side where obviously we could in theory operate independently on corporate hospitality and functions ect, financing it is the issue not the council! There is no council veto and this has been explained to you a million times already on here.

Club not tied into anything! Good grief man Falkirk are tied to a 99 year lease.

You can't be taken seriously after that - go away

Pretty certain that any new stand would be equipped with hospitality and office space to enable us to generate income 7 days a week free of Council money grabbing.

Then a business plan has to be put in place to provide the facility the marketplace needs.

Office space? No, plenty of empty office space already in the vicinity.

Hospitality? Stadium has hospitality already so the council would veto

As for free from Council money grabbing regarding the stadium. That's been talked to death, the council have the club tied up tight. We are stuck in the current facilities till the lease ends.

So unless there is a Leaseholder / Market identified then no 4th stand or build a stand to hold fans and thats it.

The latter is the cheaper option.

But anyway - whatever it is thats seasons away but the club could agree the design, how much it costs, building approval then if the funds become available there is a shovel ready plan is on the shelf.

Pretty much allowed now. Think they got rid of the old 6k seat rule in 2013 when the SPL and SFL merged. I personally would like to see a bit of safe standing like Celtic have and what exists in Germany as part of the 4th stand. Would be a great bit to watch the football from

Suspect the Ultra's would migrate there if it was built.

Opposite the main stand and the spiritual home of Simon Stainrod's Barmy Army and the Houstie Hard Core.

I agree, getting ahead of myself but we have a great potential to push on.  Falkirk is a growing place in the central belt, can imagine parents moving here want their kids to evade the old firm poison.  the atmosphere has improved no end, helps when you are winning.  would be great to push on and see a real move up the pack,  we can but dream but would love to see the stadium get completed to improve the atmosphere further.  it's the one thing that sticks in the craw, looks tinpot and ruins the atmosphere somewhat.

Filling the missing link to complete the stadium could do a lot worse than the Ayr United hybrid Standing/Seating set up.

It certainly is the cheapest option, faster to build and once and for all end the speculation that goes on season after season with nothing happening.

Can't agree more, the arrogance of the BOD at the time was disgraceful. When you make headlines all over Europe on fans forums for the disdain you show to your supporters then you know you're in the wrong job.

FFC fans are no different than most, we simply expect the team and club to operate at a level consistent with the size and finances it has in the league it's in. If we were in England we wouldn't expect to be a Championship side but we do in Scotland, and it's not unrealistic to expect us to be pushing for the Premier League place when you consider that Livingston , Ross County, St f*kin Johnstone etc are in there and have been consistently.

Livingston are a ticking clock to another financial collapse

Ross County are bank rolled by Roy McGregor of McGregor Supply fame so when he pulls the financial plug they will find their level

St Johnstone were fortunate, they got gifted the land for the stadium and a sound businessman in Brown to oversee things helped by a sympathetic council

Long term objective should be Kilmarnock - Motherwell level, looked upon as near fixtures in the Premier League

Col said they sat down before the start of the season and worked out what they needed to do to win the division. Let's hope they do the same again. None of this "hoping to compete" or "consolidating", we're in it to win it. The majority of the squad will be the same, with the shared experience and winning mentality and they've shown that it's not about having the best players*, the second best squad on the third best budget absolutely smashed it through desire and hard work.

    Now do it again.

*there's barely a player in our team I'd swap for anyone else in the league though.

But who's out of contract? these are the positions the management will be concentrating on deciding if better players are available. As for players in the division you would swop for it's not relevant. Club will be looking at the higher divisions and for the first time in years Falkirk will be on the radar of the next Vaulks who will look on the club as the one to revive their career.

It's all positive - however the displays this season will have attracted the attention of clubs to our current squad.

Interesting times over the next few months.

  7. Relief, Deliverance and done in style. One of lives moments after the ecstasy and joy at what's been achieved. You have that first moment alone to contemplate with a clenched fist 'Yes!' Talk about relief!

With the certainty of what league the club is playing in, it bodes well in the recruitment stakes with having a head start on the competition.

He wasn't the best footballer, but he was a prolific goal-scorer. In fact his 'worst' scoring performance was with us, scoring 37 times in 95 games.

He was a bugger to play against and niggled the opposition.

Remember a game against Stenhousemuir, it was a corner to Falkirk and Fergie was jumping up in down in front of the goalie. As the corner was taken Fergie jumped on the toe of the Stenny goalie. There was the goalie hopping about while he nodded the ball in for a goal. Ran away to celebrate with the whole Stenny team following after his blood. Cunningham subbed him a few minutes later to avoid a punch up.

I'm sure that wee Tiger refused to play in the LC semi final against Partick in 1971 because he'd fallen out with Ferguson, who was in the team.

That's interesting, few days after the game was told Tiger banjoed a fellow player just before they got on the bus to Hampden. Put that down to gossip but it would tie up with what you posted.

  10. 1 hour ago, ShaggerG said:

You're thinking of Jim Fowler because Colin Fowler didn't arrive until the late 70's/early 80's. I think that Jim signed after Cunningham and Fergie had left too, although he was a great prospect. He left Falkirk when George Miller wouldn't let him sign for Dundee Utd and returned to amateur football. A real waste of talent!

Thats right! Jim Fowler thanks for the correction - cracking player

Missing out on the greatest gaffer of all-time is one thing, but St Mirren had him and SACKED him. That's surely about 100x worse! That minds me, I still need to read his book. Does he talk much about his time at Falkirk in it?

There's a bit about his time there. The relationship with Willie Cunningham and some of the players Tam Young, Alex Totten.

Good read and the bit about the managers job and Andy Gray just gets you thinking

Think the most tragic example was John Lambie. 11 years & 200+ games,  before moving onto play in Europe with St Johnstone.

Won the 1st division with 2 different clubs; & by a veritable street from Falkirk, with Accies, in 86. He actually left a safe job to come to Brockville because he wanted the gig!

Right man at, most certainly, the wrong time. Doomed, from the minute the fans told Fulston they didn’t want him.

Aye! Honest John and a damn good servant to Falkirk he was as well as a player.

With hindsight it’s the only one we shouldn’t of turned down

    possibly

    it’s another big what if?

It is the big what if indeed.

Falkirk were further ahead than Jim Mclean's Dundee United. Alex Ferguson was assistant manager to Willy Cunningham and there was a lot of young talent with potential on the books. Stewart Kennedy, John Kennedy, Alex Beckett* John Young* Ian Harley, Tom Mcleod, Doug Somner, Stewart Wheatley, Colin Fowler to name a few that come to mind* these 2 went on to be stalwards in Fergies St Mirren team. Ferguson had even lined up Andy Gray to sign for the club.

As you said - What if

Eddie May tried to resign at Christmas but George Craig wouldn't accept it and persuaded him to stay. He floundered on for another 2 months which went a long way to sealing our fate. Blame George Craig.

Another example of why ex FFC players should never manage us, it always ends on a sour note. Eddie May should rightly be remembered as one of the greats but this shows he ain't by some.

Should not exclude ex players managing Falkirk but its a big decision as it tarnishes the legacy they had when they played. Miller and Prentice together with May being the tragic examples.

However we have had more than a few that had gave us some great games and teams. Totten, Hughes, McColl, Houstie come to mind.

or maybe its what they've said constantly for 3 years we want to be in the premiership by season 2026/27 so why sell our best players

Clubs got that option and it works for both.

Morrison shows he can deliver the goods in a higher division. His value goes up and player and club win.

eddie confirmed at time he didnt want managers job, he was happy with academy/ u21 team coaching. bod pushed him into accepting the position as a cheap get out. he did his best but he knew from the offset that he was too inexperienced and onto a hiding to nothing. i blame the bod at the time for him leaving club. i was a big fan of his as a player and was a genuine nice guy that got shafted.

    regards eddie may appreciation society.

Eddie May was put on the spot. If he didn't take the manager's job offered, it would have been a case of 'What if' for the rest of his career.

    What a footballer though!

One of the long line of Falkirk Players remembered for their managerial failure at Falkirk rather that the great players they were in a Falkirk jersey eg John Prentice and George Miller.

If Morrison was going to go in the summer he would t have signed a new deal. He’s given all the power back to the club in regards to deciding his future and will have put off many clubs who may have taken him on a free but won’t/can’t pay a fee for him. He’ll stay so you can chill out on that one 👍🏻

Morrison's and the clubs thinking could well be. He does the same again in the higher division and he and the club cash in on a transfer fee with a year left on his contract with a higher transfer fee so both party's win

Nod and a wink from Falkirk to Morrison we will be reasonable.

  18. When it comes to Legends, Cult hero's designations in Falkirk's history nobody's right, nobody's wrong.

If you select somebody in whatever category from whatever era for whatever reason if you think they are, they are.

The people that saw the 1912-13 cup winning team or a young John White will have had the same discussions and every era and decade since.

3 players who's mere presence in the team had the opposition going on the pitch looking already beaten by their presence McAllister, Stainrod, Latapy I think would be on everybody's list and rightly so, a rare breed that when they got the ball there was a collective intake of breath in anticipation of what they would do.

I always loved when Brockville, as one, told some moaning or cheating visiting player to

    f**k OFF, FU-UCK OFF

    Or when Aberdeen visited

They just topped Hearts as the most despised mob that turned up at Brockville. Made all the worse by their fans cheering on their antics.

At no point ever ever ever ever was Scott Arfield going to be signing for Falkirk this summer regardless of what our playing budget was! Where on earth are you getting this from?

Arfield himself has commented on ending his career where it all started and has been a theme on the forum over the last few months.

    Hope this clarifies

How much is not a lot of room?

With promotion all-but over the line, McGlynn revealed that the current squad won’t look too different come the start of the next campaign, with continuity key.

“I don’t think we’ll have a lot of room for bringing in new faces, I don’t think the budget will stretch that far,” he admitted. “But we will have a lot of continuity. It is what it is. “We have an amazing dressing room, the guys all get on like a house on fire.

    Read quality over quantity.

You never know who may be available in the closed season that may affect McGynn's plans but he will have a general idea already on what positions and who he wants to fill them.

If money is as tight as he says then Arfield's big goodbye to the Bairns could be passed up. That would be a shame but needs must.

    Case of wait and see.

Christ, is he only 19?! I assumed he was 22-23! Best compliment I could probably pay him.

The only time that sticks in my mind where he was badly exposed was at QotS last week, but that match is naturally gonna be much more fresh in the memory than others. My only real concern about him at the back is that he isn't the quickest, but that's really about it. If you're gonna tightly mark your man, you'd better have the pace to catch up if they spin you.

I'd be interested to see what he could offer in midfield, but he's not budging Hendo or Spencer, is he?

Maybe the potential for a Vaulks type midfield roll. Whatever roll he matures into he will have a decent career

Yeah been really impressed with O'Neills. The home and heritage tops have been 10/10 efforts. Even the away shirt is really good, it's just a bit overshadowed by two all-time kits. Hoping and praying that they also re-release the 1991 home shirt.

Would be a good series to do is once per season the iconic kit from a decade. of the clubs history.

Closed season, the fan base asked to chose a top from the selected decade.
