The hard bit is the judgement if the top performers of the previous season can cut it in the higher league over a season. Get that wrong then crucial positional shortcomings cripple the season . Bomber Brown and John Hay were an impressive centre back pairing in the 70's but just did not cut it in a higher league.

Think people will be surprised at who is moved on. It will be interesting but in the end it will be a nice problem as it's rejigging a promoted side.

    Here's hoping

McGlynn to his credit did say that McCann has earned the shirt this season after bringing in his replacement. When we’re on the front foot his attacking and width is really good, His crosses are good and has a finish. The games in which he finds difficult is when teams press higher and more direct, on the very limited games so far, when the opposition play it overhead or direct, he’s not as comfortable.

That is a situation where you have team instructions to nullify that weakness. Double bank, press to cut out that killer pass.

McCann has far more positives than negatives and I hope he stays.

If you take Hamiltons win and draw ratio for the first 23 games and assume they will achieve something similar going forward ( in their current form that is certainly the best they will do) then they will achieve around the 75 point mark.

Do the same with our ratio we are heading for around 93 points. I would suggest that we have a fair bit in hand now. A win Saturday pretty much puts it to bed IMO.

It's put to bed when we have the points to be champions - not before.

Seen too many collapses over the decades to think otherwise. It will make that moment of deliverance all the more enjoyable.

We are in a good position and its been hard won, so let's beat Hamilton and take it from there.

Yeah. When we beat them over there, it was obvious even watching FTV how dominant we were in the man for man battles. I don't see that changing. When you win your battles en masse you win the game generally.

If we beat them, they are in must win every game territory. They haven't given much indication of late that they can do that

It's in our own hands and that is a massive plus for Falkirk.

Every decision is a risk, but if you don’t take a decision when you’re riding high, when would you? I’d say it’d be a bigger risk not to show confidence in them now. Imagine the impact on their morale and that of the players he’s trying to tie up. We’ve had so much uncertainty and turnover for years, this feels like the right decision at the right time.

It's a vote of confidence and welcome continuity (god help him if we don't get promoted though)

Will be a plus for any player recruitment that could be the difference between getting a player or not. Would be wise to see if a seamless successor process can be put in place during the next 2 seasons

My understanding is this is standard practice for any sort of community lottery/ government funding etc.

You wouldn't want to incur substantial costs getting a full suite of design drawings prepared, ecological surveys etc for Planning Permission, then even more for a Building Warrant package - only to have your funding request turned down. I can't speak for Engineers but your Architects fees alone for all that would probably run to at least £20k.

A QS should be able to prepare an initial cost plan off some fairly simple sketches based on standard construction build-ups. Then I believe the foundation will have had to jump through a number of hoops to secure funding against that estimate. Once you have the approval you can start moving forward with the more detailed design. I reckon it will move quite quickly as I understand this sort of funding is often only ringfenced until the end of the next financial year ie April 2025 (where the project needs to be completed, not just started on site).

I have no idea what the actual process will be for this specific project though, hopefully someone from the Foundation will be able to shed some light. We'll just have to think of something else to put in one of the corner pods now

No need for another stand to mirror the existing infrastructure for no other reason it looks ascetically pleasing.

The most cost-effective, cheapest structure should be the one we go for and the simpler the better.

Hardcore banking, Concreted stepped layout for mixed terracing, seating. 15 rows deep, Toilets, Turnstiles, Catering behind.

I'm not so sure at the moment. I reckon we're probably just outside the top ten. Until we get a real good run in the top flight it's hard to put us above the likes of Motherwell and st mirren.

Mid - High teens due to the league we are in, the past 5 seasons of mediocrity and inept stewardship and not one physical asset to offer as collateral for the best lending terms should we have to borrow.

On the Ultras thing, I think they have been great for the club and I would hate to see them go as they add so much to the atmosphere.

The 'Ultra' tag comes with baggage and a pre-conceived image and perception

Falkirk choir, Simon Stainrods Barmy army, Houstie hardcore were names given by the fans themselves and all the better for it.

Pretty much how I see it too. Having said that, I do think they were probably the best team we've faced this season, certainly at the basics. The notion that we could go through a full season unbeaten was fanciful though, so, if we need to lose I'd rather it was in the cups than the league.

I knew it wasn't going to be our night when Henderson missed that back post header, the type that he would normally bury! Lang too had a good chance that he should have got on target and Morrison was very unlucky with the drive that went a couple of feet wide. I felt that Nesbitt was good in the first half, not so much second, Miller was poor (again, hopefully reserved for the cups) and MacIver wasn't at it, hasn't been the last few games IMO, seems to get caught on his heels a lot. Donaldson was excellent.

On the Ultras thing; I'm afraid this type of behaviour could be seen coming a mile away. Most teams seem to have them now and the behaviour leaves a lot to be desired. I was talking to a Stenhousemuir fan recently who told me that the Peterhead neds were throwing chips at them, before lobbing bricks at the supporters bus. I mean, Peterhead v Stenhousemuir FFS!! We need to find a way to stamp it out because, if we do go up, it's only going to get worse. That would be a real shame because they've certainly improved the atmosphere.

Fan behaviour should be self policing, get them telt their arseholes and not welcome, ridiculed and derided by those around you. Either change your ways or dont turn up.

  10. Cup result.

    Negative.

Out the cup and the drop in revenue it could have brought in

    Positive

Reality check that we are maybe not as good as we think we are, therefore a bounce for the next game to prove a point.

Concentrate of the league with no distractions of other competitions

I am absolutely resigned to Morrison leaving at the end of the season. I have made peace with that and will wish him all the best.  Delighted we have him for the rest of this season, fingers crossed 🤞 he leaves with a title winners medal

Falkirk were good for Morrison and Morrison was good for Falkirk.

It will not have gone unnoticed to players today that are in Morrisons situation, 4 years ago how the club behaved and improved the player to move on to bigger things.

It was that reputation that made Vaulks chose Falkirk.

Well done to all involved and that includer Miller and McCracken who I think signed him

Maybe there are other clubs seriously interested in Morrison but has been kept quiet.

We certainly have cover for Morrison if he goes tonight. Morrison however can provide that extra bit of magic when needed in games even when he has had 6/10 game.

Like the majority of us, hope he will be here to the end of season but can't see any longer than that.

At least we are spared the bullshitters with their inside information from talking to those in the know in supermarkets, or imagining they do more like.

Club staying watertight regarding these stories / attention seekers bullshit should be welcomed as it indicates a higher calibre of individual running the club

Looks like a lot of shite daily record related rumours to me.

As others have said promotion is worth £500k to the club so there is no way we are letting him go for less than that/ anyone is going to offer us that much

The only scenario I can see him signing for a fee in this window is if he is then loaned back to us until May (which would make sense for a young player but Morrison is 24 now)

It's the Daily Record hardly a font of reliable and credible articles. It's down to Morrison in the end, if he want's to go - go with the clubs best wishes and goodwill. Pointless having a player on the books against their will and even unintentionally holding back to avoid injury to avoid endangering his payday as a free agent.

I suppose there’ll always be peaks and troughs, but as well as providing first team players the Academy also brought an increasingly steady income.  I was sometime equivocal about selling players to Swansea for £150k that fans had barely seen, but net/net we did well out of it. I also wonder if keeping the Academy would have given the earlier League 1 squads a bit more resilience.

The Academy project once producing players ready for the first team will have a target that at the start of every season there are say 2 - 4 players pushing for a first team place progress and hopefully move on to bigger things and a club casher in the transfer and add on's.

Maybe the people running the academy can advise.

I'm bored; here's my thoughts on some of them:

Stokes linking up with Latapy and Gow over that six month period was truly something special. Some of my favourite memories watching Falkirk during that time; a team playing attacking football in the SPL, going to toe-to-toe with the Old Firm and the Edinburgh clubs. When you look back at seasons like that, it really does show how far we've fallen since.

Farid - almost by himself - re-established a bond between the fans and the club that had been lost since arguably Yogi's last season; that season petered out unfortunately, but he was a real fan favourite the year he was here.

It was clear to see Lyle Taylor was a natural finisher and he arguably carried what was an incredibly young side to 3rd that season. However, he was also the complete opposite to Farid; an absolute bellend, and in recent years has outed himself as a massive Tory. Also missed a sitter to make it 4-0 vs Hibs, so I can't in all conscience remember him that fondly.

Rory Loy was a funny one; an underwhelming signing at the time, but quickly endeared himself by just how hard he worked. Always talks fondly about Falkirk to this day.

John Baird was brilliant and a player I always hoped we'd sign when he was at Raith. Arguably stayed a season too long.

I often think it's overlooked what an achievement it was for 18 year old Zak Rudden to get 12 league goals in his first season in professional football in the Championship. That team he played in was dug meat. Would likely have been down earlier if it wasn't for him. Was just here to score fucking goals and worked his arse off too.

One of my great moments was Kevin McAllister's debut against Leeds at Brockville when he ripped Scotland's International left back a new arsehole and twisted him so much he nearly screwed himself into the ground.

Had watched him a few times at Camelon Juniors, and he stood out how he handled himself against these old pro's and a rough playing surface and still played sublime football.

Seeing him run onto the pitch said to everybody around me is the stand. 'You're about to witness something special and the arrival of a Falkirk icon' One of these players that got you on your feet in anticipation every time he got the ball.

  16. So Bournemouth are thinking of a stakeholding in Hibs.

Brighton are thinking along the same lines regarding a Scottish feeder club

Burnley looking to tie up an arrangement with Dundee

This stinks! any strategic decision, signings, management would be made not in the Scottish clubs long term interest.

You are a complete and utter fool who proves it with every post you make.

Should you not be in the care of the community since you can't comprehend % shareholding and how that is diluted if there is a further share issue unless of course you buy the shares.

Had a look at Google Maps and as @Blame Me said the tower at the front is in a sad state as are the items within it.

Is sad too as that factory was of huge significance to World history, let alone Falkirk history. The cannons were used in many wars across the World and as I said, exist in many museums. Seen them in Canada and Hong Kong. Should be a big centre of interest but unfortunately little of the original Iron Works remain and of what there is, is crumbling.

Where abouts in the States do you live, if you mind me asking?

Carron Co main office was crumbling in the early 70's when I worked there. Both wings of the building were off limits for safety reasons. The roof was nail sick and had leaked for so long the floor joists were unsafe.

Tragedy as the basement was crammed with drawings, patterns, photo albums as well as Hanshard's and Lambie's wine cellar
