  1. For those lucky enough not to be in Dingwall last night think back to the Albion Rovers cup tie a few years back . Against a surprisingly awful County we, despite dominating possession and territory, only mustered 2 ( maybe 3)shots on goal. Although not excusing our midfield they were largely by passed by our defence constantly shelling punts up the park. As for GA. I do like him but why did he not rejig our strategy when County go to 10. There was no sign of stretching County or getting behind their backs. Re players. Nevis had a Mr Hyde performance. SOD deteriorated badly as game wore on. Goss was anonymous when he should have been opening up the County defence when down to 10. Mc Ginley imho played ok until his 'aberration'. Truly awful night when even an average performance would have secured a comfortable win--- moreso when a win was served up on a plate. Any news on why Ojala, Shaw, Tierney and Lamie didn't feature? We go again!
  2. Predictive text gets me again. Roberts , Roberts, Roberts. Got it at last!!
  3. Kerr Smith signs for Villa. Robert's signs for us. They say things come in threes. TW?
  4. Like a lot of 'Well fans I'd be happy with Robert's return. Through no fault of his he ain't had much of a chance to break into the Woolery- Van Veen-Watt monopoly. With TW increasingly looking like he'll be off this month we may now see Robert's as a starter. Also his form with us last season was good and I believe we would have ended up in the top 6 if he hadn't suffered his injury.
  5. 'Well fan here. Certainly chose the correct match to go to!!! Thoroughly enjoyable game in very cold conditions. As most people have said Cove were the better team with ex- Well Vigurs the man of the match. Queen's first goal was highly dubious and their second was bizarre as per ref's decision to allow a retaken corner. Crackin' 2 goals from Cove who played overall as a team who believed they were better than Queen's . Re QOS I felt they lacked self belief but as the game wore on they equipped themselves well. I thought Willie Gibson was impressive and as for Brynn---- what a save late on. Wee shout out for our Max Johnston btw. Playing in midfield he did fine. Given his age and 'Well's current ineffective midfield he offers promise for future . As for his 'da . Needs to get animated. Looked as though he expected the sack. As for the replay I'd say it's 50/50.
  6. Who was the Serb ( I think) signed a few years back from West Ham who was supposed to be a cracking player but ended up never being seen.
  7. 'Well fan here. Going to Cove as their ground is the last senior ground for me to visit. I also very much like the early rounds of the Scottish Cup where honest endeavour and the dream of getting a 'big team' in the following round makes for great excitement. This season I took in Newtongrange Vs Dalbeattie in first round and St Cuthbert Wanderers Vs Gala Fairydean Rovers in the second. If Cove Vs QOS offers the same interest then a good day is assured Fwiw I see Cove edging it but if QOS can play like they did at Fir Park in League Cup then they could be in the hat for 4 th round
  8. Allowed the day to pass before posting. In cold light of day I remain utterly embarrassed. Less so about individual players -many of whom had stinkers- but more so the tactical suicide we employed as per allowing so many crosses into our box I also wonder why Shields was removed when he was way ahead of our other strikers. If injured I'll take back my point. Must also ask what's the script with Donnelly when yesterday I feel would have been a game he could have had a positive influence upon? Again, if he is unfit I will take back my point . Finally, I'm aware we can get caught up with emotion when asked questions in the immediate aftermath of a game but I have to say GA' s comments re first 42 mns of game left me wondering if he watched the same game as me. The bottom line is that the opposition were in full control of the game whether it be territorially, ball retention and chances made. Lot of deep soul searching required before next Saturday.
  9. Great day out yesterday . Met officials from both teams . All were truly amazing in their commitment to their teams and desire to get to the 3rd round. Although losing SCW gave their all and on another day who knows.... As for Gala , they deservedly won and showed why they are doing well in Lowland League. They will be a handful for any team in 3 rd round and that's despite being short of their best 5 players to injury. Wee shout out to Stu for his briefing on Kirkcudbright. Great wee town with tremendous hospitality shown by everyone I met. Will definitely be back.
  10. See your a buddie. What do you expect at FP next Wednesday?
  11. Many, many thanks Stu for taking the time to provide feedback. Makes the anticipation all the better. I'm assuming Gala from the higher league should win but as with the previous round I went to( Newtongrange Vs Dalbeattie) the lesser team on paper ( Newtongrange) nearly won the first game. Dalbeattie won replay. Big thanks again.
  12. Each season I attend early rounds of the Scottish Cup. This Saturday it's ' all roads lead to Kirkcudbright' Looking forward to this tie ( albeit straining my ear to my 1960's transistor radio to hear how Motherwell are faring in far off Dundee land!). Was wondering if anyone could give me the low down on both teams, who to look out for and any delights of Kirkcudbright during my two day stay.
  13. Trying to find a book written by 2 guys who, using the golden buses for OAP's , visit the rival grounds and social clubs of various junior teams. Written perhaps around 8-10 years back it gained many plaudits . Anyone help with the name of book and where it can be bought?
  14. Appreciate we can have different opinions but I suspect you have erased from your memory the performances of Lamie in the first half of last season. Compare that to Dec who in the same period held the defence together . 2 nd half of season Lamie definitely improved ( aided by our defence based mgt team) but still imho never came near Dec when he ' played'. All immaterial now but for all his improvement Lamie should never be more than a back up----- indeed I'm sure this was the role Robinson saw for him when he signed.
  15. From an envious Motherwell fan let me say your achievements this season ( including 5th in league) have been extraordinary. Congratulations.
  16. Totally agree. Watt's weighted pass and Robert's execution were faultless.
  17. The wee man regardless of the few question marks over his all round play has been a model professional and contributed greatly to MFC. I'm sure I speak for many in wishing him all the best.
  18. Agree his strengths are not as a Captain but the depth of criticisms from fellow 'Well fans is way over the top. This largely stems from a complex contract situation---- which despite no one having the exact details about--- hasn't stopped some of our fans adding 2 + 2 and getting 19!!!! Aberdeen are getting an accomplished player way superior to any of the central defenders you have had of late ( Mc Kenna included). Yup, not as effective this season as last but note must be made of the fact that he had to ' nurse' 2 (let me say ) unconvincing central defenders in Mugabi and Lamie . You have a player.
  19. There's a lot in what you say re pre ' injury' Dec stats but in all fairness we all need to remember who he had to nurse through games i.e. the then bombs scare Mugabi and the let's say ' work in progress' Lamie!! Even a prime time Costacurta or Baresi would have had his work cut out to impress .
