  1. Lol I was talking about the last time we played Stenny but i was wrong anyway - so maybe the alcohol was kicking in!!
  2. 3-0 I think. Stenny were probably the worst team (twice) to come to BB 2 years ago but still got promoted! We look pretty good they look like hoping McGuigan scores enough to see them safe - we should win this!
  3. Cautiously optimistic about this- the ghosts of last season’s home performances are still affecting my confidence. We look pretty good at the moment especially with a few guaranteed starters injured. Tuesday aside the defence looks way better this season so hoping a couple of goals will see us through. 2-1 City!
  4. Bit more modern - Patrick Vieira 4 and one of the greatest, Baresi 6.
  5. Assumed on Saturday that Allen and Swann were both not match fit. Surely they both start in your best 11!? More goals with them in the team I would have thought!
  6. Never understood why it’s 5+6 - guessing it came about from some old formation where the 4 eventually went into midfield. Some of the best ever centre half’s have played number 6!
  7. Not sure why every team at this level doesn’t stick to 1-11 given the turnover of players etc... A few months ago I feared this seasons thread would be a rather depressing place but we look a pretty good team if we can keep most players fit!
  8. Elgin have often struggled against teams who are physical so can’t blame teams for coming to BB with that mentality. A few instances on Saturday crossed the physical/stupidity line but we’ve seen a lot worse in my opinion. Cox is a good player when he concentrates on football but he lost it a bit on Saturday and seemed to spend the last part of the game desperately trying to get involved in a melee. There are a few Elgin fans who will shout abuse at the home/away team, ref and supporters however the game is going - not sure what they get out of attending the matches!
  9. 3rd try for a report given p&b crashing so a shortened version. Pretty comfortable win in the end. Reasonably close 1st half where both teams should have had a penalty and a pretty poor attempted save from the Cowdenbeath keeper led to us going in 1-0 at half time. Second half Cowden just didn’t get going and the game was over before the hour mark especially after the ridiculous challenge that got Herd a straight red. Given we were missing 3/4 guaranteed starters I’m pretty happy with the overall performance. Not sure Cowdenbeath started with their best 11 either but they’ll have to improve significantly on that performance to trouble the top half of the table. Dingwall MOTM was well deserved but I thought it could have gone to several players today - that didn’t happen many times last season!
  10. No - just a wee reference to Cowdenbeath's method for addressing an unplayable pitch. As no-one got it, it can be safely filed under #shitepatter!
  11. Pitch all sorted now - we just drove a car up and down it a few times and it solved the problem!?!
  12. Mchardy is captain - he’s injured. Fans obviously not happy with the way Sutherland left but we’re as fickle as any other supporters ie. If he was a bang average league 2 player he would not have been welcomed back!
  13. Could we go a whole season without a cove fan posting on their own threads!?!
  14. I think we’re a great E/W bet at that price although, betting on this league before teams show their true form is a bit like picking a horse in the Grand National - blind luck for the most part. This could well be the tightest league for a long time and I’m not expecting us to win it but we look decent if we can keep key players fit.
  15. Don’t really read a great deal into these early cup results cause every team is finding their feet but 2 good performances against championship teams can only be a positive. Saturday will probably give more perspective but very hopeful for the season given our signings and players to come back in!
  16. Think a 1 year deal is sensible for Shane given his track record (off the pitch). We probably paid considerably less than the money we got in January so don’t have to recoup anything and Shane knows the better he plays this season the better position he will be in to negotiate a new contract or move up on for more money. If he has a great season both the team and player will be better off!
  17. No way Elgin will have a chance of signing a better player ability wise but given his record of being a problem why would the same management team he showed such disdain for take him back. Sign him again and we won’t finish bottom (maybe reason enough) but it’s asking a lot of most fans to welcome him back.
  18. Enduring your shit patter that we’ve had to put up with for way too long. 2019/20 thread - get it in the league 1 forum it’s not f*@king hard genius!
  19. Erm... you’ve been promoted! We’ll deserved but please don’t have us endure this thread all through next season!! League 1 forum!!!
  20. Would not surprise at all me if Caley were interested in a full time deal. Full time fitness and interested Sutherland is not a lower league player. Hypothetical when his attitude can’t back it up. If he decides to knuckle down in the 1st division I still think you’ll have a great player - it’s the bleating from McInally about people turning his head that I find hypocritical!
  21. No he wasn’t actively touted for sale ( “silly money” was in the summer). He may have wanted away but the club never started the fire sale. McInally’s own statement says you were after him for some time and he wanted to come for some time - it’s either tapping someone up (albeit mutual) or someone in McInally’s house has a crystal ball/Derren brown! You took a (very talented) disinterested player and got a (very talented) disinterested player cause a bigger fish came calling.
  22. Not sure I wholly agree with that. We certainly need some players but taking away the loan players and players that have left I don’t think too many of the players left are out of their depth. I know you don’t like our defence but personally, I think we now have 4 decent centre halves individually - granted decent individuals can still add up to a cluster but I don’t think we’ll get much better. Add a full back or 2 and a centre midfielder and I think we’ll be ok. Goals I fear will be our biggest problem next year.
  23. Agree. Worked his arse off every game but as a forward there was never enough end product. Good luck to the lad - wish every player worked as hard!
  24. Waste of a quality footballer! Fit and interested Shane could easily be a full time player but it takes more than talent. Not sure what team would take the risk to pay money for him now - even half interested he’s good enough to play in any team in this league but who would take the risk given his history of being a problem. No way we will pay for a player so no chance of him coming back here and I’m glad tbh (despite sticking up for him whilst he was here).
  25. So it’s ok for McInally and Peterhead to actively pursue Sutherland whilst he’s an Elgin player and turning his head to the extent he leaves but as soon another team does it to Peterhead it’s underhanded and shameful - what a Whalloper!
