Cantwell? Why? Easily fooled by 'passion'.

Tavernier would walk in to the Celtic team.

What Celtic team would that be then? The one that had Joe Filippi at right back in 77-78?

That he is a first pick for the current version of Rangers after 7 years as a serial loser exposes the paucity of their ambition.

John Greig he isn't, and never will be.

11 defeats for both Thistle and Arbroath, yet one going for the title, 1 battling relegation, crazy League. Been a great weekend for Glasgow's finest, and most of the post-match updates are in place on our Archive with reports, videos and whatnot...

    :detective:  SECOND HALF BONANZA

    ● After 9 games, Kris Doolan's Jags have yet to concede a first half goal, and it's 10-in-a-row for the club overall.
    ● For the second time in his Thistle career Kevin Holt scores in back-to-back League games. Thistle have won all 8 League games in which the big defender has scored.
Jack McMillan becomes just the third Jag (after Higginbotham and Turner) to register double figures in competitive assists in any of the last 10 seasons.
Danny Mullen nets his 5th goal as a Jag and Thistle keep up their 100% win rate when he does so.
    ● With his 92nd minute strike, Kevin Holt scores Thistle's 200th competitive home goal versus Queen's Park.
    ● These sides have now went 43 years without a draw against each other, an unlikely 21-game run.
    ● It's 5 clean-sheets in the last 6 games for player-of-the-month David Mitchell who has yet to concede a goal at Firhill this year.
    ● Thistle score 4 second half goals at Firhill for the first time since 21st Februrary 2012 when they came from behind to win 4-2 at home to Ayr United in the League.
    ● Thistle are now joint-top scorers in this season's championship, alongside Queen's Park on 58 goals.
    ● Thistle had kept only 2 League clean-sheets in their first 23 games, but have registered 7 in just 9 games under Kris Doolan.
    ● Thistle had played Cove Rangers and Queen's Park 6 times in the League this season without a win, but have slaughtered both those clubs 9-0 on aggregate in just 7 days under Kris Doolan.

    ongoing sequences:
    ● 42 consecutive competitive appearances for Jack McMillan, 9th Jul 2022 to date, a new personal best. (Longest run since: James Penrice - 51 games, 7th Sep 2019 to 10th Apr 2021. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)

This is great reading as always TTA - the bolded bits tell a significant story.

Long may your spreadsheets continue to inform and educate us!!

Yep Robertson had 2 assists today but in the 2nd half some of his crossing was awful.

Still thought he played well though.

Robertson had a strange game for me.

Defensively sound, not too much to do. The switching between him and Tierney to go LWB or LCB worked well.

Apart from his assists, he put several tasty crosses across the six yard box - particularly in the second half - which merited far better anticipation from those that are supposedly playing further up the park than he is.

However his corners - apart from the very first one - were absolutely howling all afternoon. I'll put it down to something worked on in training not translating properly into a game scenario.

Anyway, happy with any Scotland 3-0 win, so every praise to the players and the management team for that!!

I’m sorry for scaring you guys. Life is shit but better life than death

You may not think that was any kind of statement. But you have no idea what a boost your perspective is to many of us whose heads go down every so often.

You've been through circumstances that nobody would wish on any human being - sharing your experience on here is clearly important to you, and I hope you understand that doing so gives us all a sense of balance and empathy.

Thanks for posting and please continue to do so - we are always here for you, and we bloody well appreciate that you post. We certainly benefit and learn from your experience.

Tiffoney since he went off injured against Arbroath in the league cup

    Arbroath (league)-missed injured

Cove - started but subbed after 70 mins

    Falkirk -missed injured

Morton - came on as sub at HT

ICT - started but subbed at HT

Hamilton - came on as sub at 59 minutes

Aberdeen - started but subbed at HT

QP - started but subbed after 48 minutes.

He's clearly not fit and could probably do with 2 or 3 weeks out but the wider issue is we're back to last season where none of his replacements have been any use so we end up playing him more than he should and probably make it worse. It's been slightly better than last year because Lawless was playing well on the other wing but he's lost form as well.

The attack has dried up as well, we haven't scored a goal from open play since the Morton game, all 3 have been from set pieces. As our defensive stats show, these goals count just the same as open play goals but we have lost something going forward.

    Good analysis, thanks.

However, it begs an obvious question - why hasn't Aidan Fitzpatrick taken advantage of the opportunity to cement a starting place?

There was a guy behind me last night who was legitimately one of the angriest people I’ve ever seen in my life. Just frothing at the mouth at everything and running down the stairwell at every opportunity. He didn’t come back out for the second half which improved my match day experience.

In what way was his anger legitimate???

Not sure, but Matterface came out with this earlier:

"Scotland have never lost a Nations Cup game at home"

Pleasantly surprised. Haven't checked. This guy does his homework.

Matterface is an insufferable English c**t.

If you require further verification, head to his commentary in the Euro 2021 final.

I think there was an Old Firm game cancelled the next day?

Correct jagfox, there was an Old Firm game scheduled at Celtic Park on Monday 1st September.

It was postponed and eventually played on 19th November.

The newly formed Scottish government will pay for it out of tax receipts raised, in exactly the same way UK pensions are paid for and the liability will be passed to them.  There are roughly a million people of pension age in Scotland.  The state pension is approximately £10k per year so that would be roughly £10bn that has to be funded every year.  Do you really think the UK gov are going to fund that for the next few decades (given that over time it will decline).  We're talking hundreds of billions of pounds.  Do you really believe UK gov is going to subsidise an independent Scotland to the tune of hundreds of billions of pounds?
What settlement in lieu of the pre-indy contributions?  The pre-indy contributions have been spent on previous generations of pensioners.  There is no pot of money to claim a share of.  Pensions are paid for on a month to month basis by the tax receipts.  If there was a pot of money I'd agree Scotland would be entitled to a share but that's not how state pensions work in the UK.

You are misinterpreting or not understanding what I posted. Of course the SG will pay it from day 1 (would seem an obvious solution but who knows) but the settlement in lieu of contributions already made to the UKG will be go towards the funding of it. No one is saying the UKG will fully fund it or pay it for years. There will be a settlement figure the terms of which (one off or ongoing instalments from UKG) will be decided during the negotiations.

    Exactly this.

In much the same way that the pensions of ex-UK MEPs and ex-UK employees of the European Institutions were ring-fenced as part of the Brexit negotiation.

For me, the thing that is currently grinding my gears is “service charge” added to more and more restaurants without telling you. I’d always rather give a tip for good service rather than be press- ganged into it. I’d also prefer the cash went directly to the staff than through the (likely) reduction due to “service charges” by the owners, when paying by card or a service charge!

Discovered yesterday that The Bothy restaurant in Glasgow now adds 12.5% to the bill as a 'discretionary service charge'.

Get that sordid practice fired right into the sea.

It's the West End of Glasgow, not central Manhattan.

Calm down to a frenzy pal.  You’ll make less of an arse of yourself.

Lighten up - it was intended as humour following my previous post.

My apologies if you didn't take it that way.

    Absolutely no offence was intended.
