  1. Anything is possible in this game until we score.................and even then until we score again.

But if a 1-0 victory only comes in injury time, then so be it.

We are Scotland..........we do not (usually) do easy.

    Let's go for this!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty sure Lennon won the Scottish Cup when he came in as caretaker for the clusterfuck that was Mowbrays tenure. His next 2 seasons he won back to back titles and another Scottish Cup.

Not to mention qualifying for the Champions League group stages, beating Barcelona etc etc.

You can talk about what happened next and speculate the reasons why however Lennon accomplished more than Gerrard has or is that did?

Think you've had a memory lapse Jinky.

Ross County disposed of Celtic in the cup semi following Lennon's appointment as caretaker in March 2010, and Celtic finished second in the league the following season.

Aye I've had the nightmare the nightmare about Anthony Ralston plating ahead off Nathan Patterson in the Scottish team

In three years we're to you think they both will be and at what standard?

Is Ralston even good enough for the English championship if so why did nobody take a punt on him earlier when life at Celtic was so grim?

General disarray is not only an apt description of your posts, it comprehensively describes the state of your spelling and grammar.

Either way paste and pin that and send it back in two or three years and we will have another discussion about it and about where he is at that age,in the world game

Cos Nathan Patterson is going right to the top,so glad he is Scottish

You've had a nightmare with this one.

    Give your keyboard a rest.

The story said they were all Amex chargebacks so they obviously took a different approach to Visa and Mastercard.

People who try to pay at a bar or a till with Amex are the worst so i'm verging towards Ryanair here.

The Snobbery Thread for this pish.

  6. Good question.

In common with most others, he did not have a glorious first half.

However, second half he drove us forward and demonstrated the urgency that wanted the win and the three points - which he continued to do when we basically went back four when Hendry was replaced.

Scott McTominay has mounds of spirit and commitment for this Scotland team - those are qualities that we must appreciate and should not undervalue.

  7. The assist was wonderful, that this lad's got something going for him is undeniable.

As has been alluded to though - it's how he copes defensively against strong opposition that will gauge his development and progress as a player.

Right now, would you trust him defensively v Denmark in a must win qualifier at Hampden?

Hypothetically, if we make the play-offs would you trust him against that level of opponent, given his level of experience?

Is he being fast tracked too fast, given his lack of experience at club level?

Interesting that you see McGregor as undroppable. That's testament to how far he has come the past 6 months. He's a man possessed these days. Good on him for re-finding his mojo.

However, I still wouldn't put him in the same bracket as the other 7. McTominay is a top tier central midfielder. On paper, he should be undroppable, but I understand why some don't think he is. I'd be rotating between McTominay and McGregor depending on the opposition. Tonight might be a good game to see how a midfield 3 of McTominay, Gilmour and Gilmour get on together.

I know Gilmour is viewed by some as the new Messiah, but that's a tall ask even for a Messiah!

The pisses me off.  Ref makes a howler which causes player to lose the head.  Punishment still stands though.  I get why the laws are like that and players have brought it on themselves by being moaning, petulant c***s but still seems wrong.

If Andy's petulance in any way influenced the ref to review the decision, then it was a yellow well worth it.

Nope.  Yellows can’t be overturned and regardless of how shit the decision was dissent is dissent…

    …Ref was a grade a c**t though.

Not sure about that - before the game restarted after the VAR the ref spoke to Dykes and appeared to be explaining that his yellow was cancelled. The Robertson one was for dissent though, so no chance that one's getting rescinded.

I think we all know why he won’t represent Scotland 😂 my point is that you’re criticising Patterson for being behind Tavernier in the pecking order for Rangers while overlooking that it would be the exact same scenario if Tavernier was eligible for Scotland.

As I recall, you and I had a decent debate about NP v SOD last month AJF - I'm squarely in the camp that NP is the future in that position, but I'm puzzled as to why he isn't trusted more often by his club manager, which - to me - seems to be limiting his progression.

I assume you watch him regularly as a Rangers fan - in your opinion why doesn't Gerrard trust him more often?

  12. 7 minutes ago, AJF said:

When people refer to James Tavernier as distinctly average, it is a clear attempt to create a false narrative. Tavernier has been the best RB in Scotland the last 2 seasons and would 100% start in this Scotland side.

Tavernier could be the best right back in the world, but there is one very good reason that he can never ever represent Scotland.

That is not a false narrative.

He can improve by playing at his true level in the u21s. His time will come, but it's not now.

His time will come, but cementing his position as Scotland's first choice right-back is being delayed by collecting skelfs on his arse at Sevco watching the distinctly average James Tavernier being preferred to him.

Clarke clearly rates him, Gerrard less so - which indicates Nathan Patterson has a decision to make in order to progress his career.

  14. Gilmour, Tierney, Robertson and McGinn were all sensational tonight.

And a shout too for Dykes and Patterson, who despite having both had awkward moments stuck at it and contributed to digging out an important result.

Well done to the players and the management for a massive result!!!

  15. According to the SSC update for the Israel game:

'Hampden is now a cashless stadium. Please bring a credit or debit card in order to purchase food, drink or anything else within the stadium.'

That's a poor decision. I know it's not a factor for this game, but in future it will inconvenience away supporters who i) will get hit by foreign currency charges or ii) may not have cards that operate in a foreign country.

Not to mention it will inconvenience any young fan who may not yet have a bank account let alone a debit card.
