I'm not an Arteta fanboy, but isn't that what he's been doing at Arsenal? His public personality probably rubs people up the wrong way and Scotland fans doubtless take it as an insult when he "freezes out" one of our most talented players. In my view Arteta isn't definitely wedded to inverted fullbacks, just plain stubborn or necessarily idealistic.

It's clear that inverting fullbacks is currently one part of a dominant strategy for the teams with the best players in their league to win football matches, not just at Arsenal - but many teams across Europe do this because it's effective in practice. Ball playing goalkeepers being another good example.

I don't know what a cost-benefit analysis of playing Zinchenko as an inverted fullback would reveal, but I can't imagine you'll find that answer on a TA forum as the popular focus is simply that Arteta and Zinchenko are public enemy #1 and #2 respectively so you'll only see the cost here.

Perhaps KT could also look to make some adaptations to his game, which is something he might be doing for all we know at Real Sociedad.

I saw an interview and was talking about full back playing centre halfs for this season,  your ben white type player, know he is right side

But seems is a 'tactical' decision regards Tierney

The FA Cup used to be one of the greatest tournaments culminating in the final at the old Wembley.

Now because of the financial treasures of the Premier league, Champions league qualification and possibly relegation it’s just become rather meaningless to many top clubs.

I was fortunate to watch the last ever FA cup final at the old Wembley with Villa unfortunately losing to Chelsea and a few finals when they were held in Cardiff.

Thankfully I still feel that the Scottish Cup has retained much of the excitement and experience that I remember when first introduced to football back in the early 70s.

    Completely gone

If the EPL keep kidding themselves on that folk give a shit about Wolves v Burnley then I can see them eventually being left behind.

The top 5 or 6 are the only teams folk care about and even then only Liverpool and Manchester United have the sort of appeal that rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Can see an SPFL style deal that massively increases prize money specifically for the top 6 at the expense of the rest to try and keep them in the league.

Atleti,  as they are now known

Were in the past known as the 'mattresses' due to the amount of times they had propped up the Spanish top flight

Including in my recondition being a 2nd division team , 90s

It was only the advent of the chumpions league they became 'big players

You would make a good politician. From everyone I have spoken to, no one is moaning at the fact they have to pay more tax. Everyone is just questioning the current income tax model in Scotland. The focus seems to be on redistributing wealth rather than creating it.

Edited to add. The reality is that the majority of people affected won’t move to England over this. There may be some people who work in England but live in Scotland who may move. However, there will be some people who have variable hours who will reduce their hours because they don’t see the benefit of doing the additional hours. This will have negative impact on the economy. There will be doctors who will reduce the amount of of NHS work they do and either move to the more lucrative private work where they can pay less tax via a company. This will hit services. Also, as mentioned, people wil just pay more into their pension and offset any rise.

You need levers to create wealth

    As the Irish have shown

I am more getting at those complaining about the new tax band that kicks in at £75k and higher rate tax payers at £125k.  Predictably I see some of the right wing "Scottish" papers today have headlines about people in the financial services industry moving to England because of higher taxes in Scotland - however, there are never examples given and I am not convinced people move house to save a few hundred pounds or at most two or three thousand for the £125k tax payers.

All very reminiscent of a certainly Michelle Mone going to the paers anytime the SNP won an election saying she would move to England - she did eventually move to the Isle of Man but that was not to avoid the SNP rather the HMRC.  I wonder whatever happened to her?  I am not going to lie if I suddenly came upon a £60m windfall I may just be tempted to buy an overseas holiday home myself......but would pay my tax dues in Scotland and suspect I may have enough left over to live a decent life.

But she's only going to see any benefit of that money if her husband dies

Grant Hanley played 45 mins for Norwich u21's last weekend as he continues his recovery programme. He's been training with the 1st team for 5 or 6 weeks but tweaked a hamstring which set him back 3 weeks. His achilles appears absolutely fine though. David Warner saying he hopes to have him back in the first team squad over Xmas period.

That boy tweaks a hamstring in his sleep

If she was Welsh or Scottish, and Wales or Scotland had won the European Championship, reached the World Cup final, and the Welsh or Scottish goalie played for Man Utd, while clearly being a role model and selling shitloads of her jerseys in Scotland or Wales, then sorry, they’d be well in with a shout. Especially against this year’s rivals for the award.

Scott Mctominay plays for man utd

  8. I went to an Arsenal european game and noticed that 90% of fans were 40 something white folk

ie everyone that could afford a ticket

I expect the euros to be much the same

I’d agree with that. After the absolute failure of 2002, they seem to have become that unstoppable train. They never seem to have a squad full of no-marks.

I’d have once said that about the Italians (regardless of their recent qualification faux pas) but honestly I’ve no idea who most of their players are these days. Similar story for the Germans, Belgians, and Dutch.

France and England are absolute streets ahead, though the former seems to have a much better organisation and collective agreement on a way to play. In some ways, despite their results, England seem to play within themselves quite often.

2010 went tits up for them

Agree about the Albion midfield. Short of getting Rodri on loan I'm not sure what the answer is. Carrick was running tirelessly but was on the wings at times vs Cove. Lack of goals is a worry although we did have a few chances it still all felt a bit huff and puff.

I notice the young lads/ultras seem to have drifted away too which I think is a shame as they added some much needed atmosphere (as long as they keep the flares away). Whether it's the weather or the results, there seemed to be much more of them last season.

Get a whole bunch of loan signings as current crop not at this level

Are you suggesting that there isn’t immigration to Scotland?

Not as much as in England and the rate at which has been occurring in Ireland recently

I think we like to imagine us Scots are different but if mass migration occurred here, the knuckle scrapers would be out on the streets too

The public healthcare is shit. Still marginally better than the NHS. And it’s free for 40% of the population. And for the rest, it’s very cheap. And most good employers have insurance plans.

As for the bins, mine cost around a tenner a month. Much cheaper than council tax. And yet, the road quality is much better than Edinburgh’s and the parks and public playgrounds are in better nick.

Do you know what’s shite here? Public transport. But they are hopefully going to use this year’s €9.6 billion budget surplus to pay for some major infrastructure initiatives.

    Imagine having a budget surplus

Our local council is proposing reducing the school week to save money
