  1. QOS have signed Reegan Mimnaugh from Hamilton. Could that be the end of their interest in Finlay?
  2. Am I right in saying that Stirling can’t win it tonight mathematically?
  3. You know very well the point. And I am fuming. At my own club, yes. But I will rest easy knowing my club aren’t rape apologists. So whatever the footballing landscape, we’ll always have the one-up on you for that. Which suits me just fine.
  4. Good one. And totally bodyswerving the point. Just like your club and that repugnant thing.
  5. This is true, but we can console ourselves with the fact that even though we’re heading to the play-offs (and deservedly so) we’re not abhorrent rape apologists.
  6. It’s difficult to retort given the scoreline so not much else I can say on that. Not in a position of strength after three-zip. No idea what you’re talking about us not rushing, you guys were timewasting, that’s not even a debate. Although you took 3 of your 4 chances, we took none, so you guys deserving of your win can’t really be debated either.
  7. You certainly were solid and professional, that’s true. I just expected more of a side going for top four/promotion, is what I meant. We gifted two goals and that was our downfall, and other than those two catastrophic errors, we weren’t under the cosh by any stretch. Our issues are clear though, we don’t take chances when we have them or capitalise when we’re on top or having good spells and we’re shooting ourself in the foot. Fair enough, everyone sees things differently, as we’re all entitled to. It was clear timewasting even late on in the first half. Every throw in was a clear wasting of a few seconds and your keeper had been taking his sweet time over goal kicks all second half, that’s not up for debate. I was just surprised, pleasantly to see the referee do something about it finally having watched it happen for the previous 40-ish minutes. Anyway, enjoy your night, 3-0 is 3-0 to be fair.
  8. First off, Queens deserved to win. They took almost all of their chances and we didn’t. We again gifted our opponents two goals and didn’t make them work for anything in the first 35 minutes. So from then on it was always going to be a huge task. I thought from then on though we were decent and more than a match for Queens. I really only remember one more shot from them before or after the third goal, which we were always susceptible to given we had to throw caution to the wind to try and get back in. Good finish from the lad but it should never have got that far from our point of view. It shows though how we did have good spells after our (again!) horror first half hour that pretty much as soon as the second goal went in, queens were timewasting. Bizarre and I’d definitely be asking questions if my club had put together a squad on that huge budget and had to timewaste from the 35th minute against a team in 9th!!! The first two goals aside (I know, they’re a pretty pivotal part) I thought Bronsky and Buchanan were pretty solid and didn’t have much work to do. Carswell was good in the middle and Carlo a bit of class to our side as well. Stanger impressive again, he could be a find. But the other side of the coin is how much we miss McLean and Josh. We really need one of or both of them back pronto. Duthie runs a lot but he doesn’t have much of an end product and gets little to no help. I thought Queens were ok but certainly nothing special. We’ve been put to the sword four times by them this season so they’re obviously doing something right but as top four/ play offs go, they’re a long way off the likes of Airdrie and Montrose and they’d need huge improvement if they were to successfully navigate their way into the Championship. They deserved their win today though for sure. On to next week and a massive game for both us and East Fife.
  9. Thanks for the reply. It’s a sad state of affairs. You always had the pitch in excellent nick and it’s a shame that it no longer is and that’s a poor reflection on what’s happened to it since you left unfortunately.
  10. DR’s posts really are interesting if sad reading when we see how bad a state the pitch is in. What do we think is the reason for it being so bad suddenly when DR was able to get it looking tip top, and where realistically can we go from here with the state of the pitch?
  11. I’d expect him to be the best for that money. Good finish for the second goal I have to admit fair enough if that’s what you want to believe but good money is one thing, the wages some of your guys are on is great money for a fact for this level
  12. Fair play for the reply. Oh I should clear it up I don’t begrudge QP their timewasting, we would totally do it too in that situation. I just would have expected with the wages and difference in squad for you guys to not need to do it., shows how wel we competed tonight I suppose thsts interesting,I suppose winning games is what it’s all about. Big pressure on the new man coming in to get that squad who as you say on very decent full time wages winning games wel. Very poor standard from Queens tonight I would say
  13. Longstaff for one. For the budgets difference being worlds apart I’d have expected to see a gulf between the teams tonight which there defo wasn’t
  14. I would nt say seethe, more disappointment. Nor would I say you guys were better but it’s all a matter of opinions they’re like noses st the end of the day yous scored more so fair enough but we have and will play much more poorly and win and I expected much much more of qp. Timewasting from the hour and us out battling you for large spells isn’t what I expected. I also would expect you to get hounded in a play off unless there’s big changes., genuine question and no goading here but why was Ellis given the bullet? Can’t have been playing worse surely???
  15. Thought there was nothing in that tonight really. Queen’s Park were murder, not a chance going up playing like that. They had good energy in midfield at times but other than that were a team of hammer throwers. Not sure if the number 19 had seen a football before tonight. Wow. Disappointing to get level deservedly and then such a poor goal for the winning one Thought we played quite well without being amazing far from it but queens looked a bit of a rabble and I’d expect them to get battered in a playoff whether that’s their usual quality or not who knows but for some of their players to be on four figures plus a week I’d be expecting much more if I was a fan of theirs
  16. Farcical conditions that we coped well with. The arse fell out of us when we conceded the two quick goals but we definitely deserved a point. If Cove had won that it would have been Dick Turpin territory. paton, Duthie and Buchanan good, his best in a while. Maclean lots of energy too thought he gave his all Ref terrible, cove players antics embarrassing for the Oyinsan and Pignatelo incidents and even more the penalty. Well deserved point. referee awful, just glad his performance didn’t have too negative bearing on the result
  17. As disappointed as I am with our result today and our recent form, I’m comforted that it could be much worse. I could support Falkirk. Their current plight couldn’t happen to a nicer club.
  18. Last I heard (from the media piece done with him recently) he was back in Cyprus having become a father for the first time. edit: beaten to it I see
  19. @virginton I don’t see anyone claiming that Faz’ signing policy is ‘revolutionary’ but there’s no debating that the approach and result of his signing policy is night and day to that off Duffy. Something that you should be able to see, as some of your fellow Morton fans are able to. Over the last two close seasons we’ve been hanging around the yellow-sticker section taking folks’ cast offs (some punted by Morton, yes) and clambering round exit trials picking up anyone who, on the face of it was affordable and available, no matter what they might or might not offer the team. Our signings were largely lazy (Duffy pretty much admitted this after he left us) and none inspired much hope or expectation. The situation we’re now in having appointed a new manager a fortnight ago is that we have 14 players signed, several of whom are proven at this level (and yes, some haven’t had the best of times at Championship level), have clearly been sold the club by Faz and who appear to be solid signings for the level we’re at. There’s no debating there’s a stark contrast in approach and signing policy from last summer under Duffy to now under Farrell. Even someone as obnoxious as you should be able to recognise and concede that. And of the whole ‘taking cast offs’ from Morton, aye we’ve done that in the past and will do again I don’t doubt. The difference from doing that under Duffy to now is that then it seemed lazy, some of the ‘cast offs’ offered little and have now left the club and it smacked of ‘jobs for the boys’ a bit. Now though the ex-Morton players we’ve signed are either proven at this level (note: this level, not the higher echelons of world football you seem to believe Morton are plying their trade at) or they’ve played well enough to earn a new deal, as is the case with Ramsbottom. And taking players from other teams is the way football generally works, all over the world. We’ll be shopping in the lower-end of the full-time pool (I.e clubs like yourselves), you guys will get cast offs from Patrick Thistle, Dundee and others. It’s the way it works. So don’t come lording it here over how amazing you seem to think you are, at least some of your fellow fans seem informed and are able to see reason and rationale. Something lacking in your unfortunate manner.
  20. It’s disappointing that Neill and Quitongo are moving on, more so Neill, but it happens. Rico I’m not too disappointed about, he was decent but no more, I’m happy for Faz to try and recruit a better left back. Neill is a disappointing one, he and McGeever formed a solid partnership and it’d have been good to keep that going but hey ho, if he’s moving up a level or full time or more money then that’s fair enough interesting and exciting to see what business Faz can get done in the next two weeks
  21. I can get the need for the measures, as frustrating as some of them seem. But the chance to see us in action for the first time in so long means I’ll be putting up with them for sure.
  22. Thought Forbes was MOTM, Neill and McGeever were excellent and we played really well as a team. The goal was gutting to lose but second half we bossed it and deserve the lead going into the second leg. there’s still a lot of work to do because Edinburgh will fling everything at it but 3-1 is an excellent place to be right now
  23. Been the better side I think but we had enough chances to make one count before they scored. great hit from the fella to be fair to him but we need to make a chance count. Folk slating Jones clearly have no idea. His hold up play has been pretty decent and he’s not the problem. We need our creative players to create more and when Frizzell and Forbes get these chances, they need to make one count. Despite the doom and gloom and folk saying tie over, it’s far from over, we’ve created chances so just need to do more of the same.
  24. So as we prepare to bite our fingernails and frantically refresh LiveScore tonight in the hope that East Fife can do the business against Clyde, I was just coming on to say that while the product produced on the park has been less than braw, the commentary and production of our matches and highlights has been first class as far as I’m concerned. The two lads doing the commentary @Jan Vojáček and the other chap have been excellent. They are informed, unbiased and a genuine pleasure to listen to (even if as I say the product isn’t a pleasure to watch most of the time!). They clearly work hard on their research before games and they’ve been absolutely excellent every time we’ve played as far as I’m concerned. And whoever produces the live-streams and the highlights etc, they deserve tremendous kudos too. The footage has been A1 on a regular basis and that too must be down to a lot of hard work. So a huge well done and thank you, it’s certainly made not being able to get to the games in person far easier to stomach with the streaming and the excellent commentary, so now let’s hope that we can end this awful season on a high with East Fife getting a result tonight at Broadwood. Mon the Fife!
  25. That’s a half decent retort, I’ll give you that. If a little pathetic quoting me three days later, but each to their own I suppose.
