  1. Hi to you too Dee Man. I suppose the pedant could point out that for the first time in a long time, DFC’s average home attendance was bigger than ours (by about 400) in season 2017/18. (Apologies for continuing the crowdwank, but it would be rude not to respond). I suppose my argument is that given The Arse Cheeks, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs pretty much filled the Shankly each time they visited, compared to the 200 or so away fans who have visited Tannadice week in week out last season, it would appear that more local people turn out to see United than Dundee, and have done for some generations now. The point about generations is that success/major honours gives the popularity of a club a wee bump, and we have enjoyed all of our such successes significantly more recently than Dundee, and as such, this is why more people still tend to follow United, as there has not been a great deal for a Dee to cheer about over the past several generations. I am well aware of our predicament just now, but feel that only a sustained period down here (of 5 or 10 years) or Dundee becoming significantly more successful than they currently are, will have a major impact on the relative popularity of the clubs in the city. On point C - All Dees tell us it is all about now, rather than us harking back to the safety of our successful periods in the past. I have agreed that Now, Dundee are in a better state on the pitch than we are, however argue that over the past 40 years or so, we have have been more widely followed. I chose the period of 40 years, as I believe that this is when the shift happened in our favour. Again, this is all about opinions, and these are mine. Everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint, and I am sure you see things differently. Hope that clarifies things a little for you.
  2. I would expect better from you Bobby. The point I am making is that you lot can choose to believe you are the bigger club as you are in the league above currently and are also currently the better football team. The relevance of the 80s (late 70s to be more precise) is that this was the point when we started winning things and the people of the city responded, making us, by a fair margin the more supported team, which is still the case today. Because you lot have won f**k all of any significance in about 50 years, the generations who fell in love with your club when you were very decent, are dying out, whilst our mor recent success still bears fruit in terms of current support. Unless you lot stop being so fucking mediocre (note, I recognise that mediocrity would be a step up for us just now), and as long as we get our act together sometime in the next 5 years or so, Dundee will not be more popular than United as a club for a long time. You lot harp on about the here and now all the time. Here and now, you are better. Here, now and for the past 40 years or so, we have been bigger. Again, just my opinion; and at the end of the day very few people outside of Dundee give a f**k tbf.
  3. All this stuff about 'top team in the city' depends on your perspective. If you are basing your opinion on who is the better team, the answer is currently obviously you lot. If it is based on who is the better supported team in the city; since the 80s and even currently, while we are a league below, the stats clearly show it to be us. As it is human nature to choose the stats that suit them best, I am going for option 2 and saying we are still the top team. Feel free to choose your own preferred option.
  4. Jolly good. Some nice warm up games before next season's clusterfuck begins. When does this start btw.? Just worried we still won't have a team by then.
  5. WORLD FUCKING FAMOUS WE ARE! ETA, same thing happened to me pretty much, but when I said I was from Dundee, the laddie spat at me and called me a c**t for ripping off his old man and putting him out of business (not once but twice) over the last 15 years.... Fucked if I ken what that's about like....
  6. Thank f**k for that!! You took me in for a minute.... Had me searching Twatter and everything for verification of your ITKness. ETA - Happy enough with the Clark signing... A proven goal scorer at this level is not a bad thing. Wonder how we’ll manage to f**k him up like pretty much everyone other c**t who’se been unfortunate enough to sign for us over the past few years?????* * I’m going for the twanged hamstring whilst shopping in IKEA, followed by 2 years of shite Physio, leading t ending his career with Raith Rovers, having played 74 minutes of competitive football with United.
  7. Breaking News!!! Jagfox in posting something we all agree with sensation!!!! Never thought I’d see the day!!
  8. Fucking marvellous!!! Thank f**k for that; the fans of every other club in Scotland were running out of things to take the piss out of us with... This should give them some ammo for a while.
  9. Has that young lad from Ra Sellick not signed? Also, is Fyvie not going to be fit for the start of the season? That’s a blow.
  10. Don't forget a mildly psychotic Eastern European keeper, with hands the size of shovels, arms like Mr Tickle's, and who likes eating opposing players WAGS (and dodgy full backs) for brekkie.* * I know not of such a keeper, but if anyone does, please tell Csaba straight away.
  11. I usually tend to err on the side of optimism (big mistake when it comes to United) but like Fraser I wouldn't have minded seeing the back of Robson. Poor attitude (wasn't the same player after the Christmas Eve shenanigans) and was a constant feature of a side that was nothing short of shite for most of last year, and was never anything better than meh. I won't repeat the points made about his abilities as detailed above except to say that I feel his the negative points by far outweigh his few positives. Will be absolutely delighted (and surprised) however to be proven wrong. Now that he has signed he will get my total backing of course* * until 5 minutes into matchday 1 when having been beaten all ends up by a postie playing for Alloa I will join all those around me in hurling abuse at him again.
  12. Good fucking riddance. We need fighters this year, not tippy tappy Fancy Nancys.
  13. I think that there is a balance to be struck between the 2 arguments. Lewis simply wasn’t good enough imo, (in pretty much all departments) to be playing in our first team that was under the pressure we were under, and like anyone playing for us, is open to criticism from the stands when they don’t meet the standards expected of a United player. (See Coll Donaldson) That being said, he’s hardly likely to chap the manager’s door and tell him that he isn’t good enough; it is up to the manager to spot this, and Laszlo clearly did, several weeks too late. I have no problem anyone having a pop at both Csaba and Lewis here for overall substandard performance. ETA - I was very impressed with Lewis’ interview in the Tully when he admitted that he was astonished at having been given their POTY award, given his horseshit second half of the season.
  14. Hi lads . Just wanted to pop in to say that I truly feel for you Jags. You are a great bunch an I have always had a real soft spot and great respect for you all* and your club, and am genuinely sad to see you drop down again this year. That being said, i've always enjoyed a wee day at Firhill and am looking forward to seeing you all again next season..... Chin up. * except Jagfox. My message to you and you alone is this...... Get It Right Fucking Up You!!!
  15. Speaking of which, while you are on. You c***s are pretty experienced in surviving whole generations in the seaside leagues.... Any tips?
  16. Why are you complaining about it then? Surely this can only be good for you?
  17. Dunno.... you could have a point; on the other hand, we have had 2 seasons where we on paper have a squad full of Premiership players, who have failed to cut in in the fairly brutal competition posed by the Championship. Could be that putting a team together full of some of the better, well seasoned Championship players, who know the league inside out, could be a winning (and also very importantly.. affordable) strategy. I’m just glad that indications are that we are getting a team together, and I know who these c***s are that we are signing. #EmilLyngneveragin
  18. Pretty much what I think tbh. You can only piss with the p***k you have (and we certainly have one of those), so have to make the best of what we are satuck with!! I’m willing to give the useless fucker the benefit of my time and season ticket money in the blind faith that somehow last season was an anomoly and that next season, with the benefit of the summer window (January is notorious for the recruitment of rejects, outcasts, vagrants and charlatans), Csaba will recruit the players he wants rather than the Shitehawks he was left with, who clearly didn’t adapt well to the change. (And the fact that team talks last for days), and the team will live up to our expectations. MM is def putting his rep on the line here, let’s hope Csaba repays his faith with results!!!
  19. Maybe Murray, as a year in the premiership may have helped him improve. For me, as good as Stokes is, if Lennon couldn't keep him in line, what chance does our Muppet of a manager have.... He is also rumored to be a real disruptive influence in the dressing room. It's a no from me. Then again, I was against us signing Mohsni, so whit dae eh ken???
  20. Given the absolute fucking dross we signed in January, mediocre pish is a major step up for us......
  21. f**k it... like I said, was feeling generous.....
  22. Oh alright, I'll bite seeing I'm in a good mood about Fyvie and that we can't be called Jobbysleaves United anymore. Go and f**k yourself..... Many thanks.
  23. With our recent history of signing players who then spend the rest of the season out injured, Quitongo would fit right in. Super player when fit, but way to injury prone i’d say.
