  1. The recent post on the Falkirk FC facebook page about the Jan 1977 8-0 defeat to Dundee brought back an old memory I had buried. I was there that day, in the stand for a change. Probably the worst game in my lifetime. I remember the sarcastic cheers for the goals from some of the Brockville crowd when Dundee got over 5. It could have been 12 or more but Dundee stopped trying in the end. So although we are bad right now, bear in mind some of us older fans who have seen much worse.
  2. If the impossible happens, what do you think reconstruction would look like? Three leagues of 14? That would mean playing 39 games, with some teams having the advantage of playing some teams twice at home and once away? Some other way?
  3. So you don't think it's worth it to temporarily change the way you do some things just to save a few lives. That's what a sociopath might say. One of those lives might be mine or someone you are related to you. Shame on you but then I doubt if you will be capable of that emotion. My partner and I have just started isolation because we show some symptoms, not just to protect us BUT TO AVOID GIVING IT TO SOMEONE LIKE YOU. I come into contact with older people in my job everyday and I care they are not put at risk. I have a low paid job and this will screw up our finances dramatically but I care for my fellow human beings, especially the vulnerable ones.
  4. I am having to self isolate, having some of the symptoms. Probably a winter illness but both myself and my partner are in a high-risk group and have poor general health at the best of times. Take care of yourselves and your families. xx
  5. The government scientist at the press conference yesterday said worst case scenario up to 80% of the UK will get infected with Covid-19. He said the death rate will be around 1%. Do the maths and that means that over 500,000 could die. The peak of the infection is estimated to be around 14 weeks from now. I can't see the season starting up again. Disappointed the football is stopped but in the scheme of things it doesn't matter. Expect the unexpected indeed. Take care everyone.
  6. See on the news that the Scottish government will be advising from next week that gatherings of more than 500 people to be cancelled. Dumbarton might be our last game for a good while.
  7. Glad to see on the club website that we beat Hearts during the week.
  8. that's good news!! Louis till the end of the season.
  9. give ross county whatever they want to keep McManus for the rest of the season and we will the league. I'll chip in if necessary
  10. really wanted to keep hold of Longridge, but with De Vita and this new guy from Dundee just let Louis go. He's holding out too long for more money, obvious he doesn't really want to be here.
  11. Did we get any money for Toshney or was he out of contract?
  12. Happy to give the guy a chance. We are in what amounts to the third division, expected to have signed an old partially mobile journeyman in that position. At least being young he will hopefully have a bit of energy and ambition about him. Good thing about having decent quality defender and striker as managers is I trust them to have more accurate opinion of a player than a bog standard manager.
  13. I know, but even so, a second rate Peter Grant would boss our flimsy defence.
  14. Do you think we could bring Peter Grant home from Morton? Would love to see Peter in a Falkirk shirt again.
  15. Standard today was poor. The scotch pie was great. The guy with the drum needed a talking to. McManus's goals made it worthwhile though. Got excited every time he got the ball. Got unexcited when just about everyone else got the ball. Still 3 points. Glad I went.
  16. Can we talk about someone else we are NOT going to sign other than Goodwillie, i.e. any other player on the planet?
  17. There is no way we will sign Goodwillie. What a waste of time all these posts have been. Please bring this to an end.
  18. Never thought our club would be in such mess that the best thing that can be said about a "meh" signing is that "at least he's not a rapist". It's almost funny. Look at what we have become. I just hope that the rumours about signing Mr "It was only a civil prosecution" tomorrow are not true. Would be scunnered.
  19. Must be hard being a player. In the next few days you might hear you have been sold or gone on load to Peterhead (no disrespect meant), or some other out of the way place, having to uproot your life on a couple of days notice whether you like it or not. Yes I know it's their chosen career, just saying not many of us would like that kind of life. Almost like the life of a traveller.
  20. After the avalanche of new players the past three or four transfer windows, this one is going to be ultra boring, having no money. Mind you, considering the dross we brought in maybe it's not such a bad thing.
  21. Come on guys, now is not the time to turn against M&M. Maybe that time will come, but give them a chance for now. Maybe they weren't the best choice available but that boat has sailed already for the rest of the season. After the nightmare of the past few years with all the disruption, anger and infighting we need a period of stability. How about we close ranks for a while?
  22. Shame if this is the only game Gallagher gets in the Liverpool first team. 0-5. Ouch.
  23. this is the clearest example of how far we have fallen. We're just a pale imitation of the team we once were.
  24. nothing surprises me anymore either on the park or behind the scenes. We are a mess.
