  1. My guess would be Bannigan, O'Ware, and A.N. Other. That's assuming Caldwell's claim is correct, and not his usual delusional guff which he is spouting because he knows no one can prove otherwise...
  2. It was a great listen. He's clearly still absolutely raging about being punted, still a complete egomaniac, and still peddling the obvious drivel that the team he put together this summer is ready to challenge for the league (look at the table, Gary, and consider the run of shite defeats we suffered in your closing stretch of games). He even had a snide dig at McCall's start, which I thought was pretty cheeky given Caldwell's own terrible, terrible start which seemed to go on for months without a win. For possibly the first time ever, I thought Kenny MacIntyre (?) did a good job as he challenged at least some of Caldwell's arrant nonsense, and put him on the spot over how Doolan was treated. A shame, though, that SOD kept backing him up on his idiotic "I need time, no one ever gives me time" shtick. Another highlight was demanding NAMES OR IT DIDNAE HAPPEN about all the stories coming out from Firhill about players hating him. All in all, 8/10, would listen again.
  3. I'd quite like the last 17 or whatever we're at to be posted*, so please don't lock the thread. *ideally sometime this decade.
  4. I'm not dismissing it out of hand, but I wouldn't support it with Paul Goodwin as the figurehead. Any response to the questions I raised in the first paragraph above?
  5. It was a stupid idea at Stirling Albion where Paul Goodwin last attempted to be the figurehead /attention magnet of a fan takeover then walked away because he "didn't get enough thanks". (Stirling are currently in last place in League 2). The fact that he is involved here in the TFE plans is a red flag to many Thistle fans. If he isn't a Thistle fan, why is he doing this? If Colin Weir genuinely wants to underwrite a fan-owned Thistle, why doesn't he make a genuine, alternative offer to buy the club from the current board/shareholders, then set up a fan ownership structure to hand over to? Why were various media outlets led to believe that a bid had been made by TFE when this is not the case? Is a home gate of 2,500 people, many of whom already put plenty of money into the club, sufficient to achieve anything as a genuinely fan owned entity given that pledges are already made to support Thistle in our current form of ownership? Just because you don't like the proposed takeover plans - and I agree that they are worryingly opaque - that doesn't mean that fan ownership, particularly in the present guise - is anything other than an unworkable shambles led by an oddball chancer and a previous benefactor who took his ball home in a huff when he didn't get his way.
  6. I for one welcome our transformation under the lifelong Jags fan Paul Goodwin into the Maryhill Meerkats: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/exclusive-250k-plan-to-rename-struggling-1047855
  7. Not sure Doolan scoring against us was quite as mortifying as conceding 10 (ten) goals in getting relegated into the third tier must have been, or even in the same dimension of disastrousness and embarrassment, tbh. And yes, my post was intended humorously and I don't literally believe that a heavy defeat for Morton was the end of civilisation as we know it, thank you for clearing that up.
  8. I'd 10-2 agree though - as before that result in civilisation as we knew it, your team were known as Morton - and now you're known as Morten.
  9. https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/17930715.graeme-mcgarry-way-will-david-beattie-go-50-50-choice-partick-thistles-future/ This (from G McGarry two hours ago) claims that: Another spanner was thrown into the works earlier this week when fans’ group Thistle For Ever, who had launched their own bid to gain a majority shareholding a couple of weeks back, made a formal offer to do just that backed up by the Euromillions cash of Weir. Terrible journalism thread for this pish, or has a formal offer been made despite appearances at the AGM?
  10. I was all set to allow this predictable, whining, self-justificatory tosh from an utter rag to wind me up, but the following two details made it worthwhile: 1) He complains that he was fired suddenly after no warning, having done a solid job for the club this season ("sure, some of those wins were against lower league teams" - hahaha) and that this was disrespectful. Hmmm, remind you of anyone else, who did a lot more than you for the club, Gary? 2) He appears to have been given his jotters in a travel tavern in Penrith. Still, I'm sure he'll soon be bouncing back.
  11. Delighted with this, and hope McCall has what it takes to turn us around. God knows we need someone in charge who can command the players' respect, and who (more importantly) is capable of organising them into an actual team, and motivating them. The previous incumbent couldn't manage any of those things. Not sure what Archibald brings to the table (it certainly isn't recruitment skills or instilling robustness into a team so that they can see out the last 5 minutes when ahead), but if McCall wants him there then fair enough.
  12. Caldwell really is a delusional, egotistical charlatan. I wonder if anyone will be stupid enough to employ him again after this fiasco.
  13. Haha - me too! I got the feeling that quite a lot of people in that end weren't really Gretna fans...
  14. Could the mouth-breathing, rape-defending Clyde morons (or moron with multiple accounts) GTF from this thread please and thank you?
  15. Indeed. Also looks like we should avoid managers with the initials GC for the rest of time... Thistle Board/Nest of Vipers, please take note!
  16. I wonder if Gary's had any fiver donations to the homeless knocked back since we punted him? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/partick_thistle/3299025.stm
  17. Delighted (and a little surprised) that the board has acted quickly this time around. GC is obviously quite a toxic character, so it's very pleasing that he has been punted before he can do any more damage. Kenny Miller obviously isn't the answer, but if he is interim then he can stay in post for as long as he wins games, starting Saturday.
  18. Caldwell as Thistle manager: For: Shipped out a massive amount of dross in January, signed Scott McDonald (the one decision which saved both him and us last season). Kept us up... on the last day of the season. Against: Albeit with a terrible squad inherited from AA, achieved pretty much zero prior to Christmas (no new manager bounce at all), starting with a long run of losses; Emptied some of our better players (with zero class or respect shown) because they were long-serving, senior ones who might stand up to him; Has made a terrible start to this season in an easy run of games; Seems to have lost the dressing room based on how players are (not) responding to him on the field; Seems to have lost board backing given that he is rumoured to have frozen out Bannigan but wasn't allowed to let him leave; Has us playing nice side to side passes with almost no attacking threat beyond his 40-year-old pal who is unlikely to play the whole season without injury. Has, throughout his reign, come across as delusional, and a complete bellend (this wouldn't be important if we weren't so bad on the park, and joint bottom of the league - again). He looks just as out of ideas as his predecessor, with the extra twist that the players all seem to hate him too. Will any football club employ him as a manager again? Doubt it.
  19. Interesting - what exactly was going on? There are strong rumours that Caldwell has frozen Bannigan out (although I think he was suspended last night anyway) and that in general, the players intensely dislike him. If they were openly talking back to him or ignoring him last night then great; it makes his position untenable.
  20. Arbroath look motivated and dangerous, and like they enjoy playing football. We are an absolute shambles who look scared and disorganised, and fully deserve to lose this very heavily. Let's hope it's Caldwell's last game. We probably can't afford to bin him but if he has any decency at all, he should walk if/when we do lose. FT 37-0
  21. For us: ATS, SOD (?), Balatoni, Arthur, Archie, Squiddy, Lawless, the current Chief Executive, Roberts, Shaw, Lennon, Charnley, Rowser, Craigen, Craig, Hardie, sure there are some more. For them: Moravcik, Commons, Boyd, Wilson, Burchill, Mcmanus, some guy who used to play right back... https://twitter.com/Kdoolanjag
