Eh....isn't that what any manager would say? I don't recall Martin Canning in the past two years talking about taking the fight to teams and to become a more attacking side. His patter was always "we work on this in training" blah blah "dust ourselves down" 18 years coaching experience vs Martin Canning, i'll take the 18 thanks. One quote that sums up Martin Canning, is regarding big teams "We're not judged on these performances" - That's right, imagine your manager telling you that you SHOULD not expect to beat a team, so why the f**k would you bother putting the work in if your leader doesn't think you can do it? I'm hoping for a return to a traditional back four, with some changes made to positioning. Dougie for one needs to be dropped, his legs have long left him and he only ever had one foot. With the right players in the right positions and with someone on the sidelines who can spot changes to a game, I genuinely think we have the opportunity to build a decent team. I don't expect to win every game, I however expect to see our players put in 100% effort, something they haven't done in a long time.

Hamilton Advertiser - Alan Maitland hoping to have another striker signed by this afternoon AND another player in before the window closes. For me the real danger in this window is losing Mikel and Killa, our most creative attacker and our solid and experienced CB. these would be catastrophic losses IMO. I'm hoping the new management structure will change the ways our disgruntled players think of the club and HOPEFULLY lead to them staying with us and possibly resigning before summer.

If the rumours are true, he's certainly not my first choice. From the wording I've seen, we need a head coac and some coaches, appointing a Director of Football and Maitland appearing so hands on is certainly gonna mean any new head coach/manager is gonna be well supported. From what I've read up on Rice, 18+ years of coaching/assistant manager experience is certainly A LOT BETTER than what Canning brought to the table. Donati had a great reputation for his coaching ability from what I've been told from the youth coaching he took part in. He would make sense as part of the team, Donati has played at some of the biggest clubs in the world and beside some world class players. Whilst his legs may have left him by the time he arrived at Hamilton, you could see he was always trying to pick up the ball from the back and move it forward with some style. He stepped aside from his long contract when we had our finances 'blunder', something which certainly endeared him to me. Maitland has made radical changes, something we all protested for and I'm hoping this is gonna mean a big change on the park and in the stadium. I'm hoping people come out in droves for Saturday. I don't believe that. He's stated no manager will be in place by saturday but hopefully by next Wednesday. I felt bad when we let Massimo go, he was signed long term to move into a coaching role with the club, something he didn't get a chance to do and he willingly walked away, instead of fighting to get paid the rest of his contract.

Oh, what team at Hamilton did Canning coach? Just like in real life, you are shite at poking holes. Our first team squad isn't exactly tiny, im sure you have already researched the average registered players per team though... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scottish-premiership/startseite/wettbewerb/SC1 here you go, babe. more players than St Mirren, Motherwell and Livi. Cheers for helping validate my point even more by bringing up squad size. I eagerly await you coming up with some nonsense now to try and claw back your embarrassment. I realise I am dealing with someone who deals in opinions, not facts.

He was the wrong man for the job, simply. He was given the very rare *and possibly insane* chance to be the manager of a premiership football side with zero managerial experience. The utter nonsense being posted primarily by OF fans is quite amusing also. We might have a small club asset wise, we might have a tiny fan base, MC was however operating with a higher wage budget than MOTHERWELL-LIVINGSTON AND ST MIRREN. Let that sink in, then come back and tell us about ''punching above our weight''. Alex Neil's tenure saw average players playing well above what we thought capable, they were physical but very structured, most importantly they were hard to beat. Fast forward 3 years and we can't beat a glorified Motherwell reserves side at home. I'm really appreciative of Alan Maitland, he recognised we had issues on the park and now has seemingly taken a more hands on approach and noticed the problem lay deeper than the players. I'd like to remember Canzo for all the aerial challenges won and brave tackles he performed during his playing career with us, it's a real shame how it turned out in the end for him. I'll be returning to NDP this weekend, after declaring after the Aberdeen game I won't be back till he's gone, my wish has been granted. P.S If according to MSM And a lot of other football fans *Except Hamilton fans who have to watch his football weekly* if he was performing such miracles, why has no club shown an interest ?

Nope. According to Transfermarkt, their contract expires at the end of this season. Apparently Woods, Want, Sowah etc are also up in summer. I feel for young Want, this should've been his season to get a game at CB alongside a very experienced player, instead due to Canning's obsession with an empty midfield and refusing to drop Dougie, he can't get a crack at it.

I honestly would love explanations about some of the contractual decisions at Accies. Bingham given an extension, when he's on the decline. Boyd, who again shows f**k all apart from a couple of great long range efforts, given an extension.... YET! Killa, Gordon, Mcgowan, Miller etc are currently due to expire in the summer, we should be chucking our money at these guys! RIP Bingham, as others have said, when he first appeared I thought Wow, a pacey striker, looking forward to seeing defenders catching him. He just went backwards under Canning, I genuinely think he could prosper under a proper coach.

I certainly don't want to go back to the championship. I enjoy being in the premier, I along with the vast majority now feel that we are destined to go down. However, as stated by the Board at the last fan meeting, they will NOT sack Canning if relegated. So we could potentially end up in a lower league, playing shit football still and with Canning getting 'praise' for keeping us at championship level. I think that's going to be my last visit to NDP for a long time. I've attended games for 30 years and this has to be some of the worst and most toxic atmospheres since the division 3 days. Alex Neil helped capture hundreds of young support by playing expansive and aggressive football, Canning has taken multiple seasons to undo AN' revolution. Some of the photos of the crowd last night show that apathy is the dish of the day now. I full expect the Celtic game to be the lowest away attendance of the year, It's impossible to get behind a manager whose ethos is ''we are not judged on these games''. I fully fans to bring feather dusters last night due to the dusting down patter, opportunity missed. Marcus Nash' work with the media team whilst definitely appreciated, only highlights the serious flaws in Martin Canning with these sort of interviews.

The media seem to not do a lot of digging when it comes to their 'fact checking' One look at a live crowd at home and you can see HUNDREDS of empty seats. The once teeming with youth A section for example, is like a post apocalyptic wasteland with very few remaining. Remember we used to have a wee drummer boy and some chants? Now it has the joy of a graveyard. I didn't think Canning was the man for the job when he started, I still don't believe he is. In fact, the first half season he took over, if it wasn't for the points accumulated from Neil, we would've been in the relegation battle. Modern management of a football squad comes down to man management, tactical awareness and ability to influence, he lacks in all 3 departments judging by the tactically inept decisions made when losing games, promising looking players declining in performances OR choosing to go back home to Greece instead of play for us. He cannot take credit for the likes of Ferguson/Devlin, they were NOT nurtured by him. Ferguson was an academy product that was already on his way out by the time he was brought into the first team. Devlin was playing full seasons before Cannings reign of terror. According to online sources, 9th highest budget for a manager within the scottish premiership, can anyone honestly say that languishing in 10th or 11th every season and SCRAPING by is progressing a football team? The resources are there when it comes to youth setup, we are second to none, the FINANCES are apparently there, according to the wage bill. So what EXACTLY is stopping players fulfilling their potential OR wanting to come to Accies? The fans aren't, it's the management, top to bottom. Martin could be the nicest man in the world, I however don't enjoy HIS style of football or HIS progressing of my team given his current resources. The young fans are the future of Hamilton, they are NOT attracted to a team with zero fight and zero tactical setup allowing them to win games. Just like they did with BR, it's time to pull the trigger and realise that the experiment didn't work second time round, we need someone with managerial depth, ASAP.
