  1. I listened to the Sugarcubes second album just once. A quite remarkably shite album.
  2. Nirvana!!! One good song!!! I'll have what he's having.
  3. Usually at gigs I've had enough after the 1.5 hours, but I was disappointed when the Dandys gig ended. I'm not sure I've ever been hypnotized quite like that at a gig.
  4. Listening to non-stop Brian Jonestown Massacre will make the journey more than worthwhile.
  5. All quiet on the forum front tonight. Maybe you're all being sensible and listening to non-stop Brian Jonestown Massacre. That's certainly what I'm doing
  6. And just how good were they?? I could've easily watched them all night long - utterly mesmerized throughout. I hadn't seen them since gig on the green in 2002 - they're a lot better live now.
  7. I'll tell what wasn't absolutely pish - The Dandy Warhols tonight in Glasgow. Jeez, I could've watched them all night long.
  8. I miss the "white noise guy" with his, "c'mon the dumbarteeeeeooooon".
  9. He's given me earworms. Most earworms are bad songs but I drive to work with, " Mon now sons" and "haven't got a clue, ref" with me all the way.
  10. Ha! Don't worry. Being married for nearly 20 years it's not what you think.
  11. No, but on a Saturday morning she's usually got something lined up for me and that was when I was going to listen to the bands suggested to me.
  12. It's appropriate to provide to the masses something that lifts the mood of the downtrodden souls on this thread. Think of it as a service.
  13. Good stuff. I'll get them checked out pronto. Maybe even before today's match, wife permitting.
  14. I'm off to see the Dandy Warhols on Wednesday. As good as they are, I prefer BJM. Check out a YouTube channel called Captain Beefart (that is the correct spelling). They guy that runs it has collected so many good psychedelic bands from around the world. Some excellent bands including The Psychedelic Schafferson Jetplane, Los Acidos and The Dandelions. So many other good stuff too.
  15. To hell with who's shite and who isn't. Why the fee- eck are you lot not listening to The Brian Jonestown Massacre all night???
  16. An old pal of mine watches Celtic and he said there was a guy a couple of rows down who sat in silence until the 62 minute mark when he then proceeded to go berserk for 5 mins solid. He then sat in silence for the remainder of the match. It didn't matter how they played, what the score was or anything - same behavior every match.
  17. We were more of a potted hoch family. Now that shit was disgusting.
  18. Oi!! Enough! I was brought up there and it does have its fair share of 'characters' but there's no need for that.
  19. As I think many did and probably still do. I know even the alkies down by the Leven used to go to the matches. It just meant drinking their cargo about 50 yards from the usual spot and getting a match to boot! Everyone a winner!!
  20. I know they used to get around 1000 for league matches in the late 80s when they were doing well but I reckoned it would be significantly lower now. Good to be proven wrong.
  21. Earlier in the thread some posters were talking about the attendances at the matches and we heard the usual theories regarding people having other interests, ticket prices etc. One poster suggested lowering ticket prices and it got me thinking: what crowd do you think we'd get if the matches were free? I'm not so sure it would be significantly larger. I'm with the posters that said there just isn't the interest anymore. My mother saw the Vale Juniors win the junior cup at Hampden in 1953. She said the Vale emptied that day - a relentless stream of trains and buses left for the match, with only mothers looking after the kids left behind. She isn't/wasn't a football fan but went along with her friends who weren't fans of football either because it was the local team. Those days are long gone. How many fans would go if the Vale reached the cup final again? 200 maybe? Dumbarton's record attendance was about the population of the whole town. Yet if we let everyone in for free now, I'm still not sure we'd fill the stand. It's tragic, really. But I still love it!
  22. I am relatively new to following the sons and have to say I love my Saturdays when there's a home game. I'm no fan of afternoon drinking in general but I enjoy a couple of pints before the match, meeting my pal and talking to the old guys at the table before the match. I obviously want the sons to win but no despair if they don't. Then it's home for family time with a couple of single malts. I can't understand those who don't go because of poor form, especially if they hold a season ticket. Team loses a 93rd minute goal; feet resembling blocks of ice; a half time cup of tea that needs reporting to trading standards? So what? It's a great day out. And home a 10 min taxi ride away.
  23. Then after seeing some ghosts the chairman allows fans in for free with access to a free bar and restaurant.
