Since Lesser Hampden is projected to be ready for January, does anyone know if the Stadium will only have the East Stand and the Directors Box or will the South Stand and some sort of temporary stand North will be built in time

Pretty sure it'll just be the East and Directors Box. From what I've seen work hasn't started on the south stand, which I think will be built in the summer.

Also not heard anything about a temporary north stand other than rumours that they might try to put one in for next season (promotion dependent?)

Two reasons, I would reckon. First of all, the cost would be excessive and, secondly, the SFA will not wish the pitch to be used on too regular a basis.

And there were a load of concerts booked in at Hampden in July and August which will make the SFA far more money that QP games do.

There will be the same situation next summer (and possibly most summers) so that would have am effect on the rumoured potential of us playing at Hampden for the full season if we get promoted.

Went past it today and there are 6 rows of seats although can imagine the view in the front two rows in particular will be absolutely terrible.

I do think the East Stand is about as big as you could make it given the boundary wall which makes the decision to sacrifice the full West Side all the more infuriating.

Yeah, I saw a picture taken today and see that a couple more rows have been added since the last pics I saw.

It looks a bit better now, but it's still quite shallow so the back row doesn't have much elevation, and like you say the front couple of rows will be really poor for viewing the whole pitch.

Think you might find, that the quality of the concrete poured by the original contractor, was why the club fell out with them, and that is why all that they laid has been demolised. The west stand will be I feel extended after the end of this season, as H+S rules will not allow work to be done while we are playing there.

Regardless of the quality of the concrete poured, or who's fault it may or may not be, the design was still changed from a stand that would hold around 800 spectators with a decent elevation (and which could have easily incorporated VIP seating) to the current build which holds 40-50 people and will probably rule out any future development to increase capacity at the North end of the West side of the pitch. This change came at a considerable cost.

I've not heard any plans to further extend the west stand, but looking at the plans and what has been built so far, I can't see where there will be space for any more capacity there.

  5. Totally agree.

Not to mention the money wasted on pouring all the concrete to extend that stand only to remove it all again to build the directors box.

I'm sure we could have still moved the changing rooms to their new position in front of the pavilion, built the hospitality suite in the same place, and incorporated director/sponsor seating within a decent West stand.

You could then still have the East stand as is for increased capacity.

Unfortunately it's been a shambles from start to finish.

Royal box looks smashing - nice raised viewing platform. Not sure about the stand opposite. Feels pretty low. I always look for filming positions I can't see anything obvious about where you'd set up cameras. Something that you'd think would be taken into account given how big TV is and will presumably continue to be in the future.

If I had a money no object small stadium to build I'd be trying to remake the Bayern Campus Academy ground. They've got the sense to put the seating beginning from about 8ft up.

Caveat is the entire complex is 70 million euros over 30 hectares but the stadium seems fairly practical and utilitarian. Be interesting to cost it without the excesses.

The East stand is my concern too. It looks like it might be quite a shallow angle, and with only 4 rows of seating even the back row doesn't have much elevation.

The stand at Stenny has only 6 or 7 rows, but is quite steep which means you still get a decent view.

I'm hoping the pictures don't do it justice. I suppose we had a fairly limited space to fit the stand into between the pitch and the existing boundary wall, and it looks like they've tried to tie the levels in at the back of the stand with the paving on the other side of the wall for level access/exit at the opening.

I've only just noticed there's no floodlights. There used to be floodlights at Lesser?

I seem to remember it being mentioned at one of the members meetings that the floodlights were on site and ready to be installed when needed.

We certainly won't be playing any games there till the lights are in place....or the clocks go forward again.

It’s Another friday night fixture this time it’s a trip to Balmoral instead of Ochilview (For once) sadly won’t make this one but will watch the game on BBC Scotland.

After the run of 1 point from a possible 9, Queens have picked themselves up with the results against Thistle and Dundee and I’m hoping this is the start of us going on a little run. We were unlucky on Friday and should of won against Dundee but it was yet again defensive ineptitude that costed us a valuable 2 points. Would’ve token 2 all before the game but seeing how average Dundee were and the chances we had, we should’ve punished them. Anyway, Watched the highlights of the Hamilton game and while it was an entertaining game Cove should’ve won it with the 4– l lead they had. They’ve slowly started to pick up since the last time we meet in August so it honestly could go either way IMO.

The Question that’ll be on every Queens fan lips is what 11 will Coyle start? With Thomas suspended, is Savoury 100% ready to start? He’s been getting minutes off the bench but with the bandage on his hand looking like it’s getting bigger every week will be able to play a full 90? Is it time for Ferrie to be dropped? Bit Harsh but Clearly wasn’t at his best against Dundee and maybe it’s time for Heraghty to have a go. Will Williamson ever get a start or even an appearance of the bench cause honestly I’d rather have Lennon Connolly have some minutes than Johnny Kenny (he can go F*ck off back to Celtic in January for all I care) hopefully Charlie Fox is fit (fingers crossed) to be on the bench for the game. Coyle might choose to rest a few players like Robson, Eze and Murray but I’d go with this lineup:

    Ferrie

    Bruce Kilday Bannon Davidson

    McPake Thomson Jarrett Boateng Savoury

    Williamson

Really Experimental lineup but if there was a time to do this it’s on Friday and hopefully Queen’s Park finally take their chance of going top of the league for a few hours for the 2089th time. Have a good Week everyone.

P.S. Cove fans any idea on how to build Temporary Stands in the shortest amount of time cause at the rate Lesser Hampden going we need all the help we can get. Also feel free if you’d make changes to the lineup👍🏾

Ferrie still first choice for me.

It would seem very harsh to leave out Robson with 2 goals in 2 games from left back. It would be great to give Bruce some game time, but I don't think now is the time.

I also would have Murray starting and hopefully not being subbed for Kenny when we still need him to see the game out.

Williamson surley now deserves the chance to replace Murray over Kenny if/when necessary.

Biggest question is who replaces Thomas. Savoury would be the obvious choice if fit, but both Moore and Davidson (or even Bannon) are possibilities to start, or replace Savoury later in the game.

I'd probably keep the same back 4 as the last 2 weeks, though Davidson for Bannon may be a consideration.

Was QP in the Community not just a part of QPFC Limited? Don’t recall it being a separate legal entity?

The 75% was mentioned but I don’t see that recorded in the Articles. Nevertheless, regardless of the threshold it would take a mountain of changes to align the 1903 Articles (with a few amendments) to be amended to where the club is currently operating, formally or practically. Hence my earlier comment about winding it up and starting again. It would be the end of the committee/member organisation at the stroke of a pen.

If only we had some kind of forum, behind closed doors, where we could discuss this with the office-bearers formally and recorded.

To be honest I don't know whether QP In the Community was a separate company or not, though its quite possible that it was a part of the club and that's why the new foundation was set up as a separate charity for all the reasons Hampden Diehard explained.

That would make sense to me, but as with everything else, we have to put the picture together with the small scraps of information that become available.

Members are “members” of the company, different from the club. The limited company is a legal entity. As with any similar organisation, changes at Companies House to Articles of Association have to be approved by a majority of members. In this case, after about 6 months of meetings, we changed just one word. It therefore follows that to transition from the Comittee-led set-up to a more commercial-led business set-up, an awful lot of words need changed. Perhaps to the degree that the existing limited company is no longer fit-for-purpose.

If you keep digging you’ll find a new limited company was registered at Lesser Hampden earlier this year. Only 3 directors who are also the only 3 members, and only need a quorum of 2 to make decisions. Only one of the existing directors is involved but, most notably, the CEO also is. At the moment, it’s a benign set-up relating to the club’s intended future but it would be easier to modify the articles of that company than it would be the current entity. In my humble opinion. Just an observation. Mibbees aye, Mibbees naw. One way or another, change is coming.

If i'm digging in the same place as you then that new company is the 'Queen's Park Foundation', which is the new version of the 'QP in the community'.

That covers the womens team, Kids community teams, football fans in training and other community groups.

I dont think this has been set up as the new version of the club.

However, I do agree that some change is coming. I remember back to Dempsters first meeting back in the auditorium at Hampden, I definetly picked up some vibes that the current membership structure was not to her liking.

I'm sure I've been at a more recent meeting where the president tried to debunk that idea and also said that any change would need a 75% vote in favour.

I can almost put up with a (nother) home game moved to the Friday, but 100 miles away to Arbroath on a Friday night is crap for fans that travel.

It looks like all but one of the Dec 24th games in the Championship, and a handful from leagues 1&2 have also been moved to the Friday night.

I assume a lot of clubs/players didn't want to play on Christmas Eve.

If seating could be somehow fitted above the dressing rooms, connecting with the Directors Box, then that would go some way to increasing capacity and making best use of the social club bars.

Apparently that's the plan in the longer term. The changing rooms have been built in such a way that they can support seating on top of them, with direct access into the pavilion.

Could be a few years down the line though.

I heard this morning that Liam Brown might be heading out in loan to Alloa. That surprises me if it's true as I thought he would be next in the pecking order if Thompson or Mal are missing, but it came from a someone who would be in the know.

According to the same source as before, Brown turned down the loan move to Alloa as he wants to fight for his place in the team.

Encouraging that he wants to stay, and hopefully it pays off for both him and the team.

Reading on Twitter that we’re apparently signing David Boateng from Crystal Palace on loan. Right back.

    Any relation to Mal?

Could be the guy who was sitting in the stand with some of our fringe players on Saturday.

Looks like we had a trialist defender playing yesterday against St Mirren, so that could have been him too.
