  1. Was watching highlights from last weekends efl games and seen they had a selection of teams who where aloud 1000 socially distanced fans into grounds.

Surely ST holders should be aloud into scottish lower league stadia. You would imagine a large majority of the stadiums would in the lower leagues could comfortably accommodate ST holder numbers.

In theory sons fans could enter and exit the stadium without using the internal part of the stadium as we could enter/exit using the gates at either end of the ground ?

The only stumbling block to that would be access to toilets etc.

Also seen non league teams down south which i imagine run on a similar budget / model to scottish lower leagues teams and stadia have crowds of up to 600 so why cant we have something similar.

  2. Carsy must be wondering why he stayed on.

I had this thought after the colts game.
Do you think he would go if someone came in for him in January ?
Seems weird looking towards the January window when this one is not even over.

Trying to stay positive but in these pressing times its proving difficult.

On a more positive note you guys should be seeing more on the social media front from the club including more from the facebook and instagram.
  3. The attendance was 279. I can't decide whether tonight is a worse result than Bonnyrigg or not. Our team back then would destroy the current one which makes me think 2016 was worse. It doesn't make tonight a less shocking result though. At least we can have a wee break from the misery during the international breaks.

I think the is that theBonnyrigg result came as more of a shock.
The worrying thing about tonights game is i went to the game expecting to see a poor performance and was completely prepared to see us get schooled by an under 21 team.

Negativity on my part i know but this is just what i have come to expect from this team even at this early point in the season.
  4. Was an absolutely shocking performance.

Not once was Duffy up off his arse trying to put in any input into the game. He just sat on his wee chair away from the dug out and he just doesn’t look interested at all.

I would genuinely not be surprised if there was a press release to say Jim has been sacked or that he has walked away.

The squad he has built is an absolute fucking shambles.

I refuse to believe that he has utilised the available budget to its fullest. He either doesn’t understand the value of a decent player or he has drastically under estimated the level of the player required to compete at this level.

A manager of his “quality” should surely have some kind of idea of the level of player thats needed.

Surely he must have some friends/fellow managers he could turn to for some kind of help with getting some half decent loan players in.

If we don’t make some more signings or some loan deal of a superior quality to what we have then i can only see us heading one way and that down...very very quickly.

  5. I missed last weeks game due to my home stag do ( reasonable excuse i think ).

Was kind of looking forward to a wee midweek late kick off this week but after that absolute butt fucking we took today. Im not looking forward to it so much.

I’ll still be going down to see how bad we are for myself.

Are we all coming to the agreement that we will most likely be playing in league 2 next season ?

  6. Yea, poor old cuddly Jim Duffy was forced into signing utter ringers.

He's built an absolute shambles of a squad on a budget the board consider to be better than at least 2 of our rivals. He deserves hounded out the fuckin door.

I am very much inclined to agree with you on the fact he has signed a bunch of utter ringers.

I still cant get my head round the whole budget and duffy staying thing but thats by the by.

I do think a manager of Duffys “calibre” should be more than able to build a better squad than he has.

    IF Duffy was to go.

Who would you like to see come in ? and do you think anyone would be able to fix or want to be associated with this utter cluster f**k that has unfolded over the close season?

  7. Absolute silence from the Sons fans, you can tell we're excited for this. Despite the impending pumping this is how I'd line up...

    Brennan

    Crawford - Neill - McMillan - McGeever - Shiels

    Carswell - Hutton - McKee

    Crossan - Tierney

McMillan looked absolute garbage the last game he played but I'm completely off removing Carswell from that midfield for some diddy like Zata. As part of a central 3 he'd hopefully be ok. McCluskey misses out simply due to the formation. He could probably slot in at either midfield or upfront as he's a hard worker but this is all about trying not to concede as regardless of who's playing for us, we simply don't look like scoring.

Keep it tight, play for the 0-0, camp everyone in our own half if required. If slapheid goes for that daft 433 nonsense we'll get absolutely bummed.

    That Zata by the way!!

Big Duffy must have still been half pished from rewind festival when he offered him a deal.

Watched him closely in the Motherwell game and he didn’t touch the ball for 27 mins. Thats no exaggeration. He spent that time running away from the ball, Until Quitongo just smashed the ball at him and it just bounced off him and that was his contribution for the first half.

    He is f**ckin hopeless..
  8. If Dom Thomas does go out on loan it 100% wont be to us. He could pretty much walk into any team in Championship and arguably 2 or 3 teams in the Premiership.

Given the standard of signing we've witnessed so far I'd imagine any loans we do get in will be unknown youngsters.

Do you know for a fact that he 100% ...??
  9. I don't have the answer, but If you are just going to passivley wait until that happens then the club will continue its steady decline.
In this day and age with all the competing factors and costs, you cant afford to sit back and wait for people to start to care. Even in the recent period of relative succcess in the Chamionship, the attendances never really picked up as they showed.
If the recent discussion is anything to by, the Club might be better off with a Part Time manager (some creative recruitment needed obviosuly) and a Full Time Commerical Manager to increase the clubs fund for all the other suggestions. rather than the current set up.

I really think the club should be utilising social media a lot more.

I know a few of the guys who sit near me are in discussion with the club/board to help out with this.

Facebook instagram and twitter are literally free advertising. Taking a decent advertising poster be it for the ST offer or up coming games or the new kit launch and putting it onto all 3 of these portals would vastly increase the number of people who view and would then be maybe more enticed to come down and see the football.

You can make these advertisements look really professional without a massive amount of time and effort being put into them.

I would actually be quite interested in perhaps helping out with something like that.

Its free for the club to do surely its a no brainer really.
  10. Its peoples mindset about the club. The amount of people who ask me

“why do you have a dumbarton season ticket ? What do you go and watch that shite for? “

Its a mentality that surrounds the club from the local area. I think many people just associate us with being absolute whipping boys.

Its a shame really but i think its a very difficult cycle for the club to break that perspective that the local area has of the team.

  11. Just looking back at the summary from the Q&A with the club.
    What's everyone's thought on this :
"Duffy believes that we have the 2nd lowest budget in League One. The club doesnt agree but acknowledges that the budget has been set at an affordable level because they won't risk the club's financial stability"
Are we wanting to be more ambitious or are we glad that budgets are being strict so we have a club in years to come?

The longevity of the club is the most important thing IMHO.
  12. Cheers all for the responses. Clearly a gamble, but then pretty much all our signings are and all things considered I’d rather be gambling on someone like Van Schaik than Ryan McGeever. Sorry about that one.

If anything he brings some smouldering good looks to the changing room.
